"If I could sing like that, I wouldn't be playing bass." lol! No matter how well Victor Wooten plays, he's always humble. That's what I truly appreciate about Victor Wooten.
it's a good thing he can't sing like that
Oh yeah
Yeah I can sing n play bass but i'm not a 6 x grammy winning bass player........Yet😎
@@dogonamission So could the actual composer of this song. But he did okay with himself.
@@aquamarine99911 Yeah Look I don't live in USA an feel leaving was a good thing for me i'm not famous but get to do what i love to do full-time which brings good people together, am honoured & grateful
Honestly, Victor Wooten is the happiest-looking musician I've ever seen. He's also the reason I got into bass. Keep on playing :)
I don't think anyone can beat the drummer in Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" video
have you guys heard of michael league from snarky puppy
Although he is in a completely different genre, the happiest I have ever seen is Devin Townsend. He's a prog metal guitarist and vocalist. There aren't many performers who have more fun playing than him.
Reid Copping true but have u seen Chris thile 😂
Also,Tommy Emmanuel!
Yesterday, I thought I knew how a bass could play. Now I see all my skills are passe. Oh how I dream, of yesterday...
In Victors book "a Music Lesson" he writes that its not the instrument that creates the music its the artist, the Instrument is simply a utensil for the artist. All you hear is Victor, his interpretation, his heart, his magic.
Too many people forget that we call it an “instrument” for a reason. Nobody plays the socket wrench or the stethoscope, they’re instruments; a means to an end of getting a job done. Yet, for some reason, we label ourselves as “bassists” or “saxophonists”, placing the emphasis on the wrong idea. The music exists inside of you, not on some inanimate object. Pull the music out of your bass!
What I love most about Victor is his willingness to take risks. It's not always flawless, but it's raw and beautiful.
I'm crying. He has such fantastic technique, and such a good understanding of what makes a melody beautiful
I'm in the parking lot. Alone. Outside the hospital waiting for my fathers. They are worried about my grandpa's health. He's not good.
I found this and I cried too. Is such an emotional cover. Victor is such an artist and the guy in vocals as well.
I cried and I needed it!
Keith John on vocals! Stevie Wonder's back vocal
And a nice job it was indeed!
He's without a doubt the greatest bass player I've ever heard
He's probably the greatest bass player anyone has ever heard.
Victor 'Constantly in the flow state' Wooten, what a legend!
This is still such a masterpiece 😭 So glad I remembered this existed
I've been coming here for like 6 years. Truly amazing performance.
Playing bass like it’s lead guitar, awesome! Jus bought first looper pedal, I’m gonna be a rock star before my 61st birthday next year 🤘
..I wanna be in your band..
irrelevant and incorrect analogy
Dude
Go for it!
i keep coming back to this video again and again. sooooo good
+Yoon Jeongsoo many of us
Bom
Yeppers! =-)
Tim Spiegelhalter. lol hater
Me toooooo
Ugh. I wish I could have a high-quality studio-recording of this. I'd pay more then a dollar for this cover alone. So amazing
if someday i start to play bass and leave my guitar,it's because of you victor wooten.
That has happened to me, I bought a bass 3 weeks back and I haven't touched my guitars since I've had it, and I've been playing the six string twanger now for 7 years...
Did it ever happen to you because it absolutely happened to me lol
Just learned the song Sunday. Wow. I am 50 and still learning how to play those songs....... in my head. What a GOAT Wooten is.
Man how can anyone not like this?
I love Victor Wooten, His work always lifts my spirit! Such a great bassist, musician and human being. I've watched his career grow and throughout his rise to worldwide fame he has remained unpretentious, approachable, and generous sharing his time and space with the public. Such an uplifting soul....
I love hearing him just throwing down a jam, his up close improvisation is some of the most entertaining jaw dropping performances I have ever seen. Truly awesome!!! Yeah I think you could say i like this.....
dugdiamond There is such a peaceful spirit that just flows out of him. He has a warm glow that you just want to absorb.
Beau Lijah
Didn’t know the bass was capable of that? Try looking up some other victor wooten bass jams or basically any song with Marcus Miller or jaco pastorious
@@JohnDoe-tu7ho You should read his book called "The Music Lesson". It gives you a "feel good" vibe.
Victor is the best, no doubt. My props goes to the guy on vocals.
Very good singer. 👌🏾🫶🏾🙌🏾👍🏽
after 9 years, i still go back to this video. Victor's a true inspiration for all of us, musician or not!
"If I could sing like that I wouldn't be playin' bass."
This is how you make a perfect song even more perfect (if that's even possible).
4:41 "Imma learn this one day." hahahaha
Lmao
Have U gotten yet?
I think he plays the chorus too high on the neck so he has nowhere to go on that line.
did you learn it yet
the last part !!! oh my God, am crying.

This was so much more than I expected. Victor Wooten is just astounding.
Dude has Got Stevie'S Voice Dwn To The Tee:)! He& Vic Complemented each other Fabulously:)!
The bass is very underestimated in my opinion. The things Victor can do with with a bass is truly astonishing. He knows what groove actually is. He is a pure genius
the most exciting part for me was 6:36 ... the free playing ... question and answer ... wooten reacts so fast! Great!
Surely the singer's name could be in the description - he is great too!

Hard work only gets you so far, Vic has something 99% of people couldn't achieve even with hard work, I guess you could say God has some part in this.
That was amazing. thanks for that upload :)
That's how you pimp a bass! I never thought much about the bass till I heard Victor play "The Lesson" and I've been a believer ever since. He's an amazing talent!
Thank you for your kindness sharing this video. Victor is by far my main motivation for having started playing bass guitar one year ago.
such a beautiful playing!
The best of the best. He plays beautiful, he's truly amazing, no comparison, my primal inspiration. He's just the best ever.

I Love This Bass Rendition of Yesterday By Victor and the Singer. Just Fantastic.Top Shelf.
You know it would be awesome to see them play together and meld their styles into one glorious bass chorus.
Very blessed people with God given talent and hard work!
beautiful victor
he feeds my hunger of bass music, it soothens me, arghhhh
This guy is so amazing that he takes our bass to new levels of total endeavor and makes it look so easy. I would say in my time on this instrument, he is the best I have ever seen...bar none.
Very laid back. love it
Great clip!!! If you haven't seen Vic play live, add it to your bucket list ... amazing! He gets into a zone and takes you right along with him. I got the chance to talk to him at a Flecktones show last summer and he was the friendliest, most down-to-earth real guy ... talked to me for a while and made me feel like we were old friends. Go see him, you won't regret it.
Thank you!:-)
