I have a 11yr. old bass player in my home, we are listening to this together, one day he will be on stage, doing what you guys are doing, his love for bass is a gift, he can't put it down...
This is for the Record Books...but as you explained...the more you know...the more meaningful this is. There's another Marcus with an orchestra in Europe that is equally brilliant.
Great show! I remember catching one of their later shows broadcast on Mezzo, around ten years ago, and especially the encore of "Beat It" - it had that place already here, but by the time of the later show MJ had passed away and the cover became longer, groovier, more aggressive - before finally seguing into Miller's trademark encore of "School Days". That was such a deligt to watch, and this is a fabulous concert as well!
Every time l listen to these guys l get a very warming calm that last a very long time . It can last a few weeks and then I always come back for more. Good stuff _ very good stuff. Keeps me calm. Ed
My best person in the world recently show me this concert. Together, drinking Mezcal and smoking magic makes us feel like on live. Crazy and amazing artists, together! Just wooow, pure jazz...
School days 1st time hearing It i was hooked,i was asked to check jazz fest 09'Victoria-Gastetz. S.Clark, M.Miller & V.Wooten...I thought they were Fabulous!
Never have seen or heard this but when I close my eyes I can pick each guy out... Not boasting, just lamenting over how much I have listened to these guys and how much I love what they do!
Legendary. Felt like taking a shower afterwards. I was dripping with the greasiest funk, the grimiest substance manifested in this dimension by these three wise men. The rest of the band had their own wizardry to contribute as well. Amazing.
This is one of the great trio of bass players with that kick ass drummer this is a awesome group. Have listened to these musicians for years. Kudos to them all.
I met Stanley Clarke and Jeff Beck in 1979 in a jazz bar in Dayton Ohio after their jig in town that night myself and the drummer from our jazz band in high-school
Just the technique of Wooten, it's just amazing, the awesome Miller slaps, wow, and not to forget Clarke, playing his own way, like nobody else can. Love it and I'm only a 14 years old bassplayer. Wish I could see them playing live once...
Back then I was 14, now I'm turning 17 in 2 weeks. Still listening to this music and still improving as a bassplayer with these men as my biggest insperation! btw sorry for my broken English, I'm from the Netherlands. Hope you have a great day sir!
Marcus Miller was writing and producing his own work 27 years ago and while being a headliner now, he's certainly a professional to get onboard any new project in trust to the jazz legends because he is one!
❤ exactly.. anyone who worked with miles , luther , David Sanborn and aretha Franklin late teens and early 20s is definitely the truth. And don't sleep on his bass sax and clarinet work smh
All the performance was absolutely out of this world. The piano solo really did touch my soul. The entire concert I went through a lot of emotions. Thank you maestros.
Greatest concert I've ever heard. I mean ... what giants all. Giants. Masters. Maestro's all. Ever one. My freakin' God this feels so great, organic, balls to wall ... bass is the place. So hot, so eloquent.
BOOM BOOM BOOMIN BASSIST’S! I grew up listening to these extraordinary bad bass playing brotha’s (Stanley first, Marcus, then Victor). I can’t dare to compare them because in my opinion, they all are insanely talented in their own right! *The drummer and keyboardist are extraordinary too! I’m so blessed to have this video of them doing what they do best! BIG UP’S TO THEM ALL! 🎸🎸🎸
I enjoyed this a lot. I clicked on it expecting to watch a little and ended up watching the whole thing. Very impressive talent, but more importantly, very enjoyable.

Only a crazy man or a person who is unfamiliar with the history of the bass and it's master would sleep on the greatest "Funk Master" of the bass, the greastest bassist ever and alive, Mr. Stanley Clarke. Kick Ass!!!

Fabuleux !
Great to see a master (Clarke) passing the baton to two of those who admired his talent and were motivated by him to pick up the bass at a young age. Looking forward to seeing who they pass the baton to and what they bring to the ear.
it's cool how you can spot who's playing (sometimes) without looking at the video... they're all great and so unique musicians and it's nice to see them performing all together
Wow... top jazz bassists performing together. Love Phillys own Stanley Clark! Saw Marcus Miller , Victor Wooten and Derrick Hodge play with MonoNeon at the Blue Note too!
That Alembic Stanley plays is gorgeous! He, Jaco and Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) were my three main influences as a teenager. Then I went to college and learned it for real! I knew every song on Marcus’ Let Me Know You album. And then Victor autographed my fretless bass. He’s a friend of my bass professor at UNCA.
It's taken me 51 years to accept I will never be good enough to tie these guys' shoes. There's nothing wrong with playing the groove and having a good time. But man, to be able to rip it like these cats...
Loved the many moods and grooves of these great musicians using their great playing range of instruments to paint masterpiece after masterpiece of enjoyable music (full of sound pictures).
IMMENSE talent at work here! I had the fortune of seeing them live in Los Angeles during their SMV tour, it is incredible to see the 3 top bass players of all times together on stage. Individual taste may give preference to one of their styles, but together they are truly something else. Let's hope they eventually follow this up with more work together and more albums. Thank you much for posting.

I'm a fan of all these guys. Victor gave my my entire basis for bass (HAH) and Marcus is an all around beats inspiration. But Stanley...Stanley is always interesting to watch. Like his technique is entirely his own. He always holds his bass nearly parallel to the ground, and his index and middle finger do like all of the strumming/pizzicato work. It's probably his transition from upright to electric kicking in, but I don't feel like anybody else plays the way he plays.
Agreed. The way Stanley plays the harmony effect in the jam that starts at 18:21 is just incredible. Not gonna lie, it's not even the best sounding effect, but he has muddied the harshness of the effect perfectly, it's just fundamentally well-placed and well-used.

Clarke, Wooten and Miller? My head just exploded. God bless those guys for sharing their talents with the world. It's a better place for them.
Yes, kind of like the bass equivalent of Paco de Lucia, Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin. Unbelievable amount of talent on one stage.
Bro!!! Stanley Clarke is a head taller them 😂
