This music, the grooves the flows, the compositions are other worldly. Marcus is truly a musical genius. Listening in 2022.
That encore was a banger
STILL EXCEPTIONAL IN 2023
Even in 2024.
This is one of the best concerts on RUclips...I tell people about it all the time. And Marcus Miller is a brilliant musician. I don't throw the word fan around lightly, but I am a fan of this guy out his music....!!

For my money, he's the best sax player I've ever heard
His rendition made me feel the sentiments that Marcus Miller was conveying in his narrative about the ascension from melancholy to victory. Astounding!

Playing with this orchestra has to be the highlight of any performance career for a musician...............having that much arrangement and musicianship behind your ideas and expressions is mind blowing and a rare treat for those who are the center piece in sharing their art with all.............................
except for this brother it was performing with one single trumpet, quite a long time ago ;)
@Art Deco He means Marcus played with Miles Davis for years.
Sorry this performance is a very little one
AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!
Not just an incredible bass player but a fabulous musician...truly..
Musician, Composer, Arranger, Producer and what appears to be one down to earth Brother. A Classic from a Living Legend!!!!
The piano guy is just superb.... and he's having a lot of fun ;))))

@@boukasem Just did it again. Soooo good. :D
Goosebumps. All I have to say. This is legendary.
Love how the sax player always tells his story when he solos.
Marcus Miller, ah what a revelation indeed.
Sound is so tight, controlled but at the same time just flowing. A fan for life.
It’s June 2024, and I’m watching this speculator concert for the unteenth time!
Incredible beautiful concert. The sax solo on Goree is one of the best I've ever heard.
I've listened to it probably 25 times in the past week
Marcus Miller composing, performing (on two instruments) and dancing to his own song is AWESOME!!!! Without dipping my foot into anything political, that piece, Goree made me actually feel what Marcus described prior. When I hear the song, I can hear the melancholy transforming into transcendence. One of the most expressive songs I have ever heard. Feels like I understand just a little better. And the way Marcus and Alex played it..... No words. Thanks guys. Unbelievable performance.
You can tell that Marcus Miller is a truly good person by the way he relates to his fellow musicians, his audience, and, of course, his music.
This is true big band jazz. What incredible musicians.
I am proud to be Dutch and play a part with the best Orchestra also Dutch in the world. And that Marcus think the same!
I'm in love with all that Marcus Miller does. He is really good!
This is one of the best videos on RUclips.
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UR so right!
Yes...for sure!!

Bullshit! Come on are you a jazz rookie, greenhorn?
Marcus Miller is amazing!! a true composer and a fantastic, genius musician!! he is one of my role models. To Marcus and his band, thank you for your music brothers!!
And that drummer..and that sax player and that trumpet player and that guitarist and that pianist and that orkestra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Marcus is playing with the best orchestra in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Marcus!!!!!!!!!!
They're playing with one of the best bassist in the world!
@@trosemore exactly ...Marcus is a master bassist and composer who played wrote and produced for Miles Davis...Luther Vandross and David Sanborn all around the same time period
You stand corrected. They have the 'privilege' to have played with him. Please understand how accomplished he is as a musician, composer, writer, and arranger.
I just stumbled upon this video. It is amazing. Marcus is a beast!!!!! Listening in 2023.
I recommend that you keep exploring his stuff. He has a whole library of amazing compositions and performances. He's a man of enormous depth from his days playing with Miles Davis to now. One of my absolute favorites!!!!
I liked how Marcus was so interactive/conversational with the crowd on this one. And of course, incredibly good music, as always.
Do you remember Marcus I play with you in 1991 in Japan my name is nagie I was playing the piccolo in the background
This is possibly the best musical production I have ever seen. I have been a musician for 15 years. The composition of the orchestra is amazing all the parts blend so well! Great selection of musicians. Almost no conflicts with the mix of the soundboard or diversity of instruments. INSANE PRODUCTION WOW!!!! f word
Indeed!

Absolutely!
Check out Stan Getz' 1961 masterpiece called: Focus. The first tune on this album - I'm Late, I'm Late - will put you on fantasy island if you enjoyed this production. Miller has always conceptualized for all his musicians - which is why he is on another level.
@steven davis heard*
Was I the only one moved by Gorée? The amount of emotion and musical talent invested in that performance was incredible.
Be sure, you were not the only one.I can listen to it every day, great, great performance.
When he hits the fretless & the horns come back in kills me everytime! Hairs on the back go my neck!
This version of Goree' may be the best piece of music I have ever listened to
Both revelation and Gorée gave me goosebumps. By far my favourite 2 pieces from Marcus. They're incredible in his "marciac 2012" concert as well, even without an orchestra.
Agree. Gorée is a masterpiece by Marcus. It all just comes together so perfectly. Fantastic arrangement with the orchestra as well.
MM is genius, humble and subtle... Just great.
Clearly one of the Greatest musicians of our time!!!
bassist, composer, producer, writer, clarinet player......thanks Marcus for your brilliance!!!!!!
I don't understand how someone can dislike this.
Don't pay no mind...just watch, listen and enjoy.

That soprano sax solo is CRAZY!
Yes really fine!
I've watched this like 25 times now easily. It's my go-to groove.
Marcus Miller one of my favorites for years from Miles to Sandborn to current.
A FRESH REINTERPRETATION OF HIS CLASSICS. I LOVE ORCHESTRATION.
Marcus is such a class act.
OH MY GRACIOUS GOODNESS. THIS HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE MUSIC THAT I HAVE HEARD IN YEARS!!!!
I knew the album for years, but this performance adds new dimensions 😮
Marcus miller starts on the OBO, jumps to bass guitar and back to OBO at 41:29 and the rest is history. He's an absolute genius.
wow......I'M ABOUT 7 YEARS LATE TO THIS.......AMAZING. Revelation just blow my mind.
When the song ended .. I couldn't help but let out a big "WOW" !! ( jaw hanging open) ... Dumbfounded !!!! ~~~~
Magnifical Marcus Miller ,with this marvelous orchestra !
Marcus is one of very bass players of all time. Very well rounded in all music.
Super concert.
The melody from revelation is just perfect, so much power and emotion. It’s like a movie score....
true, Marcus is a genius
Wow, Alex Han's solo in Gorée, and that interaction with the band that Marcus has during the solo. Gives me goose bumps it's so good!
DOPE!!!!!
One of the best interactions I have ever seen. This group is CONNECTED!
The class of this restores my faith in humanity, we make it a species yet / mind blowingly classy / looking my socks - they've been blown off
Had no idea how talented Marcus is producer, musician, and composer until I read the credits on numerous productions. Saw him and David Sanborn with Miles at a concert. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Man! If I had ever watched a jazz show with all the music I love, well, this is it, I was speechless, I was inspired.Marcus you are blessed with all the other exceptionally talented musicians. God bless you all
Miller together with this orchestra is able to show all his incredible skills as musician, composer and arranger in the best way possible. It´s amazing to see how effortlessly they go every pace possible. Great performance and Marcus is such a humble and generous guy...
a giant of jazz really...
Big up to the Mixing Engineer 🙌🙌🙌🙌... It's perfect💖.... And amazing work as always to Marcus and the Band
Man on man! They broke off some Tutu on us! Still to this day one of the baddest bass riffs I’ve ever heard! And the young dude on the trumpet and the dude on the sax...top self right there !!!
Marcus Miller’s music is powerfully pleasing and soul stirring to the point of be rapturous and transporting emotionally...
Goree is my favorite here. The song really fits with the backstory. The orchestra and the slow horn play by Marcus successfully delivered the first part with a sad, gloomy sensation that coincides with slavery, then followed by hope and joy for a new era when the captives left the island. Alex Han was insane, no wonder why Marcus danced like crazy. Also, the bass at the end of the song by Marcus was really wonderful.
Yes and revelation.. sensational tunes.
Phew!! I feel like a kid just just spend an afternoon in the fastest rollercoaster; exhillarated, happy, exhausted, and grateful Thank you Marcus, it's still a thrill discovering your ever expanding musical evolution!
This video introduced me to Marcus Miller, what a fantastic musician and bass player!
Absolutely brilliant, and what a great orchestra!
I keep coming back to listen to this great musical piece featuring Marcus Miller. I'm blown away at mess of funk and symphony instruments. This is a beautiful sound.
Living proof that hard work is it's own reward!! There was a time when Marcus Miller and Louis Johnson were the most talked about bass players on the planet but Marcus kept on working and Louis just kinda rested on his laurels. Wish Louis had kept pushing like Marcus. Imagine what the bass world would be like if they were both still supplying the world with their own unique talents!!! I dare to dream. Thanks Marcus!!
from 36:40, goree. the introduction was so well delivered and important to the interpretation of the music. he really brought his game for the horn section. i've heard him play this many times, but never with this much fluency, emotion, and strength. the hand over to alex was so magic. this is where we sense the transcendence that marcus talked about in the intro. alex hand is damn cool, plays with timing and dynamics to great affect, and hits the notes hard. these guys rock.and this piece of music rocks, with the power of the Orkest band with them. unbelievable.
There is something wonderful about Marcus essentially taking the band over from the conductor for this song and letting him know when he can finally have the band back given the context of the song and where it is being played. This whole concert is great but I have come back to Gorée over a dozen times. One of the best live performances on youtube.
@@adamprestin28 isn’t it? This is the best performance of this song that exists on RUclips. My favorite part is when Marcus hands the theme to Alex Han. It’s perfect
Musical genius and from pure love. Masters of jazz and exquisite orchestral concert. Thankyou Marcus for providing us with such a joyous concert. I have watched countless times over the last years.

When I am feeling down from the politics of the American educational system, I play this song and it uplifts me and gives me fuel to teach. Absolutely beautiful song. Touches the soul and the ancestors. Marcus is genius. Would love to meet him.
One of the best concerts I've ever seen on RUclips, hands down!
I still shaking in listening Gorée. The most sensational Marcus concert !
In addition to the incredible musicianship exemplified here, I LUV the mix. So well done, including that bass trombone in my right ear. WoW! Artistry all around. Marcus is King!

When Marcus closes his eyes and bobs his head, he's entering or about to enter the "M" zone. He produces the sound by electrifying the bass to our virgin ears. WOW!

I love how they show Marcus backstage. I think that really highlights what a professional performer is doing in the wings before they come on. I love it and I think that you should have a shot like that before performances. Well done
I'm just blown away
Never heard of him and I'm a life long player. I am stunned, happy and inspired.
You are a lifelong player and never heard of the master? Seems suspicious
Probably (one of) the best bass player (alive!) out there.
No he's not never!
44:01 Alex Han and his fabulous solo kills everything around. This guy has steel lungs (and bright future) if he can make such a saxogeddon.
The boy has one of the best phrasings in the business!
I watched a video include only the blast part, then I find the whole concert. This was amazing ! Imagine you listen to this performance live.
I have been a bass player for 55 years. If there's one bass player that I can identify with its Marcus Miller. I love his use of the guitar. It makes absolute sense. Thank you, Marcus, for always inspiring me.
