the bassist is an all-star
That's becouse they had to get someone as funky as Joe Dart.
Seth is an actual mad man
@@franconiro9392 I'm not actually sure that's possible.
@Niro Franco Joe Dart is an amazing bassist, but in my opinion Seth's style is more appropriate for that kind of music as Cory's. I don't see the reason of that pointless, boring mentioning of Joe Dart's name thousands of times under the Cory's uplloads. Joe is Vulf's bassist and that is it!
@@Petar_Nikolov clearly you don’t actually understand the capacity Joe Dart has for funk
After hearing this version of “Get myself a real job” I think Cory would be a perfect musical guest for Sesame Street.
totally had Kermit vibes
All jokes aside, Cory would be the best person to get kids into music. Wether it’s rhythm section driven low volume funk with Vulfpeck, his solo work and the newer Cory and the Wongnotes stuff, or this orchestral funk fusion, the energy he brings is just pure joy and love of his craft
In a good way
😂
Cory Wong could absolutely move kids to want to pursue music. Alas, public school budget cuts are burning away music programs like a forest fire that's out of control. 😢@@RyanRiggsMusic
Thank you and Good luck Cory👍👍👍
It's almost illegal that this concert is for free on RUclips! Thank you for this....
so nice of cory wong to name his daughter after a cory wong song
Every Wong must have his name on a song. Its the legacy.
SETH TACKABERRY ON THE BASS!!! this dude is just killin!
Police Academy's Tackleberry?!
he is a monster... seriously !! that drive...
He also brings a ton of energy on stage. It actually bums me out that most of the orchestra looks bored most of the time.
Hell of a bass player. Spot on!
this should be in the education category
Man i almost cried "Today i get myself a real job",.. Im a guitarist and currently working in the govt.
This got me through the pandemic. The Optimist every morning. All I needed.
19:20 you know the music grooves, when the harp player feels the groove :)
Musicians of a certain age, and who play certain instruments and genres sometimes wait a long time to be able to just have fun when they play. It was never really encouraged. Sort of sad really, if you consider that half the classical guys were likely getting sent ot of the classroom for being a pain on
a regular basis.😎
This was amazing! I just want to point out one thing. This man was named after a Vulfpeck song and then he named his daughter after a Cory Wong song! I sense a tradition starting! 😂😂
Herman Lind True words😂😂
Thank you for clarifying! lol!!
whats his daughter name?
@@hafizbimastian4092 His daughters name is Ellie. Like the song.
Its the other way around, he named the song after her daughter, as he explained in the video.
This might be the best jazz album of my life, im freaking out rn
As an artist myself, I almost cried at the lyrics of "Today I'm Gonne Get Myself A Real Job" .... such accurate
I literally did this 3 years ago after 12 years on the road. No regrets! Still love the game, just don't play it any more!
Ellie is such a beautiful piece, I can't even imagine what it was like to be there in person.
This is by far the very best-recorded and engineered live show of this type that I have EVER heard, bar none. Congrats Dirk and Cory - you absolutely nailed the sound on this one.
Agree! The sound communicates and moves the soul. Powerful from my headphones to my "high end" sound system.
Shame the video director never showed the horns camera left, especially the bari dax.
That's what I said to myself too. But do the sound recordings all come from this live ? I'm not sure. I think that some guitar parts, perhaps more, were recorded afterwards in studio.
I think that’s a lot of comping were done on studio. Maybe Coming from several concerts or rehearsals
it's absolutely not a straight line of live recording
But no matter, the whole thing is fantastic
@@lighteenblind Are you sure about that? Not doubting that but could you show a timestamp where they're different? I do know there is an album release of this concert that is significantly different. Track order changed, definitely remixed and new parts in that.
Im in tears after watching this
Rarely do songs bring tears for me after 50+ years of learning, studying, playing music.I had not heard "Ellie" before. Perfect representation of a sentiment between Father and child. Beautiful piece.
Produced/Mixed/Mastered: Cory Wong
Everything Cory does is perfect! And done with a smile:)
He really nailed it. It sounds truly syrupy tits. In my humble opinion, the vocals are occasionally a whisper under, but wholly within the realm of difference-of-taste. I’m really impressed by the soundscape here.
Vulf and Metropole is what we need next🙌🏼😂
Just here commenting on every Cory Wong video because dude DON'T MISS!

Nice touch adding the solo stamps!
This is one of the GREATEST Live Orchestral/Rock/Experiential Concerts of ALL TIME. I just WEPT to "Underground" after a long "JOE-DART NECK BOB-A-THON". MY HEART. THIS IS MUSIC. THANK YOU CORY.
Additionally... Just bought my 2nd Wong's Hoodie. WORD. Wore out the other. Need a "dressy" one.
So glad Cory didn't get himself a real job.
:’]
What do you mean by "real job"?
@@JctenPromax He has a song called "I'm gonna get myself a real job"
@@vincentonoja3981 XD
he could be making himself a lot more useful imo
You are so fookken good Cory. Thank you for bringing jazz to the younger gens.
"That bassist is crazy clean, damn! ... Seth Tackaberry" Thank you for making it easy for me Cory!
We live in an age with an abundance of high quality Art and artistry in all forms mixing together to create gems such as this - so so spoilt!!
43:43 - a monster bassttombonist ☠❣👍👍👍👍
"Underground" at 1:03:57 has got to be my favorite tune in this set. I love the whole damn concert, but there's something so special about this song. The simplicity at first, then the rising pulse that once the full weight comes down at 1:06:16 sends chills up my spine every time. The orchestration, the melody, Cody's voice. I could write a dissertation there's so much to appreciate about this song.
I absolutely agree! can't get enough...
> 1:06:16 sends chills up my spine every time.
Man, I paused right after this moment and came to the comments to see if anyone else had chills. His voice is incredible.
For some odd reason Underground is completely missing now? Idk what happened but at 1:03:57 "The way it is" starts playing. Did Cory have to cut it later on? Or is my youtube player bugging out now...
Edit: Seems I'm not the only one. Underground is still up on Cody's channel though ruclips.net/video/GgWXQGD0Mi0/видео.html
@@itsfloofles Thank you for clearing this up!
@@itsfloofles I thought I was losing my mind. Thanks for confirming that I’m not (yet)…
Metropole Orkest is doing absolutely fantastic job recently. They inviting such a great talents creating new form of art. I really enjoyed Cory Wong, Jacob Collier and phenomenal Cory Henry. What a great entertainment and looking forward after quarantine finish to go and see them live.
Their stuff with jameszoo is also awesome
Don't forget Snarky Puppy!
This is so good!!
Team sport blow my mind. What a song
This drummer is killing it!
The recorded drums sound great indeed, doubt from that actual performance though.
@@tombest3562 You think what we hear is overdubbed?
@@JelleTheTunes Some of the clips don't of the drummer playing don't match up with the audio. Doesn't mean they're overdubbed.
@@tombest3562 drums are 100% live. for whatever reason the drummer video isn't always synced
Can we take a second to appreciate the set player, just killing it....
Dude…. The sound engineer is a freaking genius. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Perfect 007 chord at the end!
Cody Fry is insane! Unbelievably talented! Love this guy!
Antidepressant in Audio Form. (Listen Daily for at least 1 hour 19 minutes 52 seconds)
The percussion and drummer hold the band so well together. They work so well with the band, embellishing the important parts so well and keeping such a strong groove. Rhythm section for life.
Absolutely beautiful, I love the piece "Ellie" the most.
If EVER there were a human born to play a strat, Cory is the one. Absolutely love this guy!
The piano solo on Team Sports is awesome
The whole tune is fantastic but I couldn't stop thinking 'It needs more cowbell' ;)
Yes, including some beautiful Lyle-Mays-Vibes🌈
Wong can do no wrong! Everything he touches turns to gold, top to bottom, inside and out, front to back, out front and behind the scenes, performance and production, writing and improvising and, obviously, a quality human being generating it all.
shout out to the metropole orkest. One of the most amazing collaborator orchestras on the planet ....
I knew I would love this. I was surprised my 7 and 13 year old daughters both were mesmerised. They have both started learning guitar and both picked up on Cory's right hand technique. Kinda proud they caught that. Hope to see you in Georgia or Tennessee soon! I missed you last go around.
Oh my GOD Cory this is so good, what have you done!!
We were there , so happy it has been recorded ,one of the best concerts i have ever attended !
Right? I was floating on air for days after this gig..
Wow, never heard of Cory Wong or the Metropol Orkest. I had no intention of watching the whole video when I started. I've been glued to my sofa ever since.
Just mesmerizing to me. Bravo everyone!
This gave me goose-bumps.
I really like how during Ellie you could really hear and understand the chaos and the peace. He composed this song so well that even with the high chaos coming from strings, the lovely melody of the piano and the rapid tempo of the drums, it managed to fit all together in this beautiful piece, and it sounds so good! The guitar, of course, was amazing too. props.
Ellie puts tears in my eyes, you can just feel the emotion he is trying to convey.
What's up Cory? Hi from Brisbane, Australia! Love your music - as a drummer, I've never enjoyed guitar as much as listening to you and watching you play. Please keep the great music coming!
Brisbane represent!! And yes, couldn't agree more. His music and this show in particular is spectacular and to think he produced, mixed & mastered it too! So Corey, why no Patreon? I want to give you money damn it!
this dude's a fucking legend...we all have to thank the universe for such gift...
Cory's voice is soo soothinggg
i love "Today i'm gonna get myself a real job"
The bass player is on fire. What a solo at 24:50 Bravo
I like the Spotify version solo on this track (slightly different) a little better, but agree Seth is very impressive here.
The bassist is definitely into it!
I think that’s every bassist ever :D
Indeed
Cory's outfit is what I call business casual!!!
The song Ellie which was named after his daughter was amazing! Thank you for letting me listen and I will share this with everyone!
agreed, You could feel the vibe of the city, see the smile on a young girl's face, the panorama of life all around. Well done Cory & Co.
Don't take this the wrong way but I can totally see Kermit the Frog singing Today I'm Gonna Get Myself a Real Job.
he has a video of exactly that happening
@@adamnahkuri2717 Oh, nice. I missed that video.
my thoughts exactly!
Channeling the LCD Soundsystem
Kermit the Frog crossed with Pink Floyd's Roger Waters.
Fantastique. This live concert is Grammy material.Cory Wong stands as one of my favourite guitarist now.
From Malaysia
i think Cory is extremely proud of this particular project....i'm pump up to see it in it's entirety!
You can tell from that moment @ 1:07:15, checking on each other 😀
Thanks cory for your generosity!! So much work put into this and you gifted this to us for free
Speechless... I am without speech!
Cory can do no wrong. Amazing compositions, arrangements. Beautifully recorded and mixed. Nice to here the Bass up in the mix. Seth Tackaberry you are a monster, absolutely nailed it.
The "That's Just The Way It Is" Underground, amazing. Bruce Hornsby is likely proud.
Thank you youtube for all the amazing discoveries that I would have never come across anywhere else in my life
His whole band is top notch! Saw them live this past year in SF. It was open seating and we were able to snag seats on the balcony directly over them. He is the consummate showman and band leader.
Je ne m'en lasse pas, pendant la vaisselle, le ménage, le jardinage bonne humeur garantie 😊
metropole orkest amazing as always
Thank you so much for sharing this! What an amazing concert! I think you and Cody are such an amazing duo. Buying the vinyl tonight!
This is Grammy status.....love you WONG!
I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on scooping the vinyl.
Can't wait for the vinyl to arrive!! Thank you for uploading the whole concert here for us to enjoy in the meantime! You're the man Cory. Much love and respect to you!
I keep coming back to this show. Thank you for the richness, the joy, and the mastery!
He just couldn't resist doing one of the famous and glorious cory wong live-set speeches (and you could definitely hear the smooth cory wong minneapolis humor, even if he tried to keep it subtile)
Bass playing can't get better than what's played in this show 🔥🔥🔥
My god, this version of Ellie is the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed in my entire life. God bless you, Cory
I've listened to this show 5 times in a row so far, it's so good!
Been waiting eagerly for this full show.
This concert is PURE PERFECTION! Songs, arrangements, orchestra and the band. Cory is doing a magnificent job with his music and talent. And I am really amazed by the bass playing here. Impeccable!!
This is so nice, man. I love the sound, the playing together of the musicians, the quality and the passion. Thank You.
Musicianship, pocket, feel, vibe, orchestration, arrangements.....wow!
That guy in the background with the slowly growing smile at 36:16
This concert brings me pure joy. All the musicians here are awesome. Also amazing camerawork! thank you for blessing us with this beautiful concert cory
This with an awesome set of headphones is unreal. Humans and the music they create is something to always cherish.
Wished I was at the concert. The sound is so bloody rich!
Every song in this concert is outstanding. The groove on Better is so good!
I’m suddenly feeling a lot better about my day.
This makes me so happy to see!! OMG... So proud of you Brother! What a show and production!!! ❤️
Amazing show... the mix is so good, i can feel the power of the bass instruments of the orchestra very distinguished from the electric bass... SO NICE!
Right! This album is a masterpiece...
We are so all so f***ing lucky they were able to record this before the lockdowns hit. Damn.
We Dutch are always open for a New treat! 🇳🇱💯
I saw this show in Heerlen Netherlands and was blown away. I can't remember seeing a better concert. This was fantastic. I am very grateful that Corry has put this show on youtube so I can reminisce.... forever. Thanks a lot Corry. Hope to see you soon again ... in Belgium???
Another Cory's amazing concert! All sounds really great, thanks Cory for this masterpiece. I had a blast with the Bruce Hornsby's "The Way It Is" cover.
I'm stuck with this concert. Everything since the beginning until the end is simply wonderful, and Cody's part is so astounding.
So tight, yet so organic. Amazing quality of musicianship from literary every player.
More than AMAZING!!!!! PERFECT!!!
One of the best concerts i have seen. My respect for all the musicians involved, you did a fantastic job.
48:18 I don't know why, I just cried hearing this song. The lyrics and melody felt so emotional.
And you didn't even glue the pickup switch to 4th position. *fearless*
Tears in my eyes and goosebums ! Thesese songs and arrangements are Pffffff, soooo good!
