Watching this felt like everything I’ve been practicing for the past year and I’m sure some bass player’s entire careers Vic just threw out the window, but even the most wacky and unfathomable parts of the solo you could feel some sort of method to his madness, but above all else it just felt like he was just having fun playing the bass, expressing himself not as just a musician but as a human being. What more could you ask for from a solo?
Ladies and Gentlemen. This is what it looks like when you absolutely MASTER your instrument. This man is at the peak. He can go no higher. All he can do is just show the world what it is like being at the top, and I will always be here for it!
Same problem as Steve Vai. I do not care how many notes you can play a minute, nor how much music theory you know! Make it Groove? (It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing)
This was trash tbh from a "Berkley school of music" standard, he would have been denied entry if this was his entry audition , but to the rest of us, it is just one of the greatest of all time showing he does not have to ascribe to any rules whatsoever
Might it be said that this was him providing inspiration to high school students… I’m certain that it was not his intention to impose rules or seem to be out of reach…
To much abstract sound. My favorite performance of Victor remain bass day 98 and his first solo album as all his contribution with Bela Fleck and the flectones are pure genius! The Sinister Minister!
Unfortunately, the great player VW has fallen to the showboat platform since he is not a Jaco, Stanley or Marcus. He doesn't have the tunes just chops and uses used grooves sparked up with showboated bloated riffs that really don't measure-up unless you're stunned by the bass acrobatics while the heavy retro players easily out-weigh this type of performance.
@@gregoryjohnson4319 Not talking about me but I'm no slouch either and can speak for myself on this because of it. No worries about me this isn't about me. It's about showboat'n & music. I am one that draws a line between the two and am not impressed by it.
Is your opinion based on just this one solo or his entire body of work? Nobody accuses Sonny Rollins of 'showboating' when he takes a solo. Because Wooten's bass solos are on another level from virtually everyone, RUclips algo tends to recommend these solo clips. But yes, Wooten can play the bass too, he doesn't just do otherworldly solos. As for your opinion that this solo is just 'bass acrobatics', I think your opinion is musically deaf.
I'd like to know which bassists you actually DO listen to because chances are, if they are any good at all, they respect Victor for being a bass legend. So I'd like to know which bassists you might listen to who would also hold the same opinion of him that you do. My guess is if you can name anyone at all, they most likely suck and are as ignorant as you.
A master at his craft and an amazing entertainer! 😅 Only Victor can make a room full of kids and adults laugh simply through a bass guitar
El MAESTRO Mr. Víctor Wooten. OUTSTANDING.
❤👏👏👏👏👏👏 amazing !!!! Victor Wooten the best forever)))
lol the moment where he completely detunes his bass during a live solo...what a god.
I agree. He totally detunes it. I was amazed myself.

😮😮😮❤
What an expression you have found through and with your disability. I am doing the same ( not as brilliant as you!)
You are fantastic. ❤

This must be Vic Wooten on acid.

@@ADude-f3z I think he is just a really stellar musician with a very acute sense of how many possibilities are truly available to us unexplored

Your life is so empty and boring that you click on a Victor Wooten video, expecting not to like it?
