My peers are always like "OMG! I love your drawings! You're so good!" Then, I look inside my head at my Awesome Artists shrine (which totally includes Jim) and weep inside... Someday...
His talent is just perplexing. He forgot the Deltoid was called the Deltoid yet he creates the most badass pieces. You go to any fine arts school and you see all the numerous students that know every single joint, ligament, muscle.. and cant draw half as good as this guy.
The amazing thing is that most ppl wouldnt understand squat from what he's explaining. He going thought details the exact things thats going trough an illustrator's mind when he's drawing. It's a unity language only illustrators understands. I sucks at math but the level of concentration I reach sometimes when I draw it's something I never could understand or explain. LONG LIVE JIM LEE
I am new at all this but I get a sense that he is like the most talented that most. Other than just practice he just seems more natural drawing lines etc etc.. does anyone else sense that as well ?
Jesus Christ! The speed at which he knocks up those doodles is sick. No construction lines, nothing! I guess when you're that good the construction lines are in your head.
same! i watched the 'how to draw the marvel way' and they talked about 2 perspective points and it hit me, i was like 'why didnt they teach me this!?!?' these videos really are great
To a person who draws, the best partner to have is a person who can tell you what to draw. Sure, you can be a good artist by your own, but with a person who can give opinions and ideas, you can draw something even better.
his talent is almost a slap to the face lol the speed and ease with which he does his drawings makes me feel like i'll never be on this guys level, but hey, you gotta keep practicing right?
Repetition is the mother of mastery. Think how old you'll be in two years. If you sketch a little, almost every day, consciously, there's no way you won't be drawing much better and with more ease, confidence and better results, by then. Now, how old will you be if you quit and let yourself be discouraged by others' mastery? It's a choice.
Dont sweat it, i had the same view as u a few years back but over the years you DO improve. Plus, by adding shading it makes drawing look more 3D automatically, but if u imagin a sketch without the shading n observe the shapes involvd its all good. Keep at it. F'real.
ít depends on how famous and talented you are. A comic book artist gets paid per page done, event hough some have exclusive contracts. Jim lee is rich by the way, hes one of the founders of image comics and he founded
@corruptgunslinger Todd McFarlane has a BFA and went to the Alberta College of Art and Design, as well as Eastern Washington University studying Graphic Art. He may have learned a fair bit of anatomy from comics, but he is definitely not self taught. Self taugh guys are people like adam Hughes, david Finch, Sal Larocca, Scott McDaniel, etc. Those are guys who are self taught, with no artistic tutelage.
Not to take anything from Jim Lee, but I remember Jack Kirby saying that he didn't believe in drawing lessons. He said that he would keep redrawing the same object until looked right.
"swipes real pictures?" You realize pretty much every artist uses references when they work, right? drawing from imagination takes years of just getting a library of images in your head so you know what this or that looks like from various angles. In short, Jim Lee swipes real pictures too. And everyone else does. It's just as needed.
holy friggin crap. i thought i was good. Jim Lee is the one. Superman: for tomorrow and batman: hush are what they are cuz he illustrated them. (and the story.)
@niggabanguh3000 It's almost inhuman to watch. I've been drawing for years and I'm pretty confident of what I can pull off given time and solid work but Jim's pen flies over the page faster than sketch work. And it still comes out looking like a flawless, finished image.
@corruptgunslinger I hope you can fix your computer soon, i am really curious about your work (i want to become an comic book artist myself and i need all the inspiration that i can get =P)
the modern way to draw comics which Jim is showing here blows away the style Stan Lee and Jack Kirby used back in the day. None of that stick figure crap
Real people can't stand that still, andwhile comics don't fall under the "fine art" category, that doesn't mean the artists don't use references. If youve ever seen comic roughs you would know know they do make a number of sketches before producing any panels.
dont like how stan lee laughs!!! (it's as if he knows he has the best and is rubbing it in on EVERYONE'S face...), but then again i don't like stan lee almost at all either... dont get me wrong, his creations and work is amazing. im very lucky to live in a time where i can go into imaginary worlds like the ones of spiderman and the hulk. but him as a person doesnt seem fun at all... probably why lee is in dc comics today? idk maybe...
hmm maybe you're better than him, but you certainly don't know what modesty and respect are. Jim Lee is one of the all time greats, and being an artist has a lot to do with learning and paying respect to what's been done before in the history of art. But to be fair, you are only 13, or 15 according to your youtube page.
R.I.P Stan Lee
HE draws so fast!!!! o.o
So this is the level of a professional comic artist :o
its aewsome how a comic book god stan lee can appreciate another artists work, its amazing :) love it
My peers are always like "OMG! I love your drawings! You're so good!" Then, I look inside my head at my Awesome Artists shrine (which totally includes Jim) and weep inside...
Someday...
Do you still draw sorry I know this comment is 10 years old
His talent is just perplexing. He forgot the Deltoid was called the Deltoid yet he creates the most badass pieces. You go to any fine arts school and you see all the numerous students that know every single joint, ligament, muscle.. and cant draw half as good as this guy.
jim lee is just tremendously talented and draws better than 99.99999999% of artists out there.
Jim Lee is amazing.

He's a friggin' master, that Jim Lee.
I am new at all this but I get a sense that he is like the most talented that most. Other than just practice he just seems more natural drawing lines etc etc.. does anyone else sense that as well ?
this is fuckin incredible. He even doesn;t use any help lines. He perfectly feels the shape.
jim lee is my all time fav
"franky, you don't know why you can draw better than the next guy." yup talent is so important if you wanna be top artist like jim
Jesus Christ! The speed at which he knocks up those doodles is sick. No construction lines, nothing! I guess when you're that good the construction lines are in your head.
he is my hero
lol " I CAN DO THE MONA LISA" HAHAHHA
same! i watched the 'how to draw the marvel way' and they talked about 2 perspective points and it hit me, i was like 'why didnt they teach me this!?!?' these videos really are great
Even as a non-artist, Stan Lee has a complete understanding of the drawing medium. Amazing.
To a person who draws, the best partner to have is a person who can tell you what to draw. Sure, you can be a good artist by your own, but with a person who can give opinions and ideas, you can draw something even better.
Jesus, even his "crappy sketches" are good !
Jim lee knows drawing to a SCIENCE...friggin incredible
Stan Lee sure likes them "Supers"
I'm glad that paper he drew on is worth like, a zillion dollars
thanks for the upload this sort of thing is epic.
his talent is almost a slap to the face lol the speed and ease with which he does his drawings makes me feel like i'll never be on this guys level, but hey, you gotta keep practicing right?
I imagine Jim Lee being tough to have a conversation with after watching this. Haha!
Jim lee man...flippin eck !
His "warm-up" drawings are awesome. I wish I was that good with markers. If I don't do rough pencils for my drawings, they always get messy.
Jim is just awesome wish I could draw like him :(
Bridgeman is a friggin God! I'm glad someone else on the planet knows
one word.. .wooow...
stan lee dont shut up!
"camara this, camara that"
best turtorial on youtube
The world needs to now this...ops sorry...
Need to See!
as a kid i watched the how to draw comics the marvel way with stan "the man" lee and John Buscema. stan has an excellent narrators voice.
Inspirational.
Michael hampton is really good too, his books are really details and interesting to look through
Master.

Alex Ross es el mejor dibujante de todos. Jimm Lee es simplemente un caricaturista. Alex Ross hace obras de arte, no basura como esta.
jim lee is super cool
I am also a fan of Bammes. Internet you surprise me yet. hahaha.
Different styles, man. You're comparing apples and oranges. I think they're both great.
awesome ninja turtle arm
