Seeing as how old he is, the location of where he grew up, I honestly believe ozzy is more of a catholic (at least the odds would lean towards that) and the whole Satan thing is sort of a way he expressed his own inner turmoils and demons. The Satan inside of him I guess. If you look at half of his discography it's about him suffering through life. I mean he straight up said Satan is a joke which is actually how Christians are taught to look at him. It could all 100% be coincidence too, nobody ever knows what's going on in ozzys head. Not even ozzy.
Indeed. I mean, calling Black Sabbath a satanic band is kind of laughable isn't it? Let's look at the last verse of After Forever shall we? "Perhaps you'll think before you say that God is dead and gone Open your eyes, just realize that he's the one The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate Or will you still jeer at all you hear, yes I think it's too late" Oh yeah....sounds exactly like something a devil worshiper would say. I lived through the satanic panic in Mississippi, and even at 13 years old I was baffled that our local pastors would round up the kids and actually burn rock albums. Saw it with my own eyes. I remember the pentagram on Motley Crue's Theater of Pain cover really set that guy off! He had a real hard-on for Prince too - Darling Nikki and all 😂 I just remember being pissed off about the albums themselves because it was such a waste of great albums that I wanted for myself.

@@SamaelAzazel131 uhhh what a boooriing and overtly self-centered, resentment-driven story It just shows some serious lack of social skills, not how much of a satan figure you are
for a start the word ( occult) means hidden , so I think a lot of people assume satanism is hand in hand with heavy metal, realistically it could be madonna or lady gaga just as easily as a band like Ghost
Like Slayer said, they just wanted to freak the Christians out. And Judas Priest defended themselves in court by saying that them getting their fans to off themselves would be bad for business!😂
Slayer never said that. Tom Araya is a Christian. Judas Priest never said that either. If you're going to spout about metal history, do your homework kiddo.
@@patrickmohan2220 Rob Halford did in fact say words to that effect. It's fairly well documented from the lawsuit that was brought against them after a couple of kids attempted suicide due to "subliminal messages" in one of their songs telling them to kill themselves. As for Slayer, Kerry King is on record saying that he wanted to piss off and freak out as many people as possible, including Christians. Considering he and Jeff wrote the vast majority of their lyrics, I think it's fair to say that the opinion of the only Christian in the band (Araya) isn't actually relevant to what the band intended to achieve with their songs. Funnily enough, I believe he shared the same sentiment as Kerry and Jeff anyway with regards to getting in people's heads.
I’m not really religious but I’ve always found bands that just write about satanism very boring, it’s so cliché, what I do listen to like that I listen to for the sound and music, but I find songs with more meaning and more like a story way more entertaining and impressive
Really depends if the band believes what they sing about or don't, usually if a band believes in Satanism, they don't call it "Satanism" they usually call it theo-satanism or something like A.M.S.G. or how they are masters of themselves and bend the wills of many. Bands who do it for shock value just write the same shit over and over and have nothing but the basic knowledge of it and try to spin politics into it.
I was in the Bible belt during the satanic panic...was around 7 or 8 years old. It made Halloween A LOT of fun. Kids daring each other to walk thru the graveyard at night and wondering if there would be "devil worshippers" there.
As someone who went to school in the bible belt its still a bit of an issue. Had a teach try to suspend me for wearing an Iron Maiden T-shirt. Luckily my principle was cool as fuck.
It opens a door, though. When you treat Satanism as a joke, you make yourself more open to its influence. You don't just listen to one song and go out murdering people, but it does have an effect.

I’m a Christian and I love all the artists (sans the guy before Alice Cooper and Nergal, although I respect Nergal’s accomplishments), but I think Cooper really hit it home with it all being show for rock and roll. I listen to heavy and dark stuff, but I don’t take it into my heart. I listen to it and hear music, lyrics, stories, etc being told and hear the art in it.
I'm a Christian metalhead from the 80s, and I believe there are comparatively few bands that actually promote satanism, seriously or otherwise, certainly outside of black metal, which I just don't like anyway, musically. I listen to a lot of metal that's a lot more wholesome than most of the sexually explicit garbage you'll find in the charts.
Luke, I understand you desire to hold on to something that has brought you peace and joy in life. However, can you find scripture to support what you are saying? How can you like music that is “heavy” and “dark” when God is light? “For what partnership do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness.” 2 Corinthians 6:14 Please, I implore you. Let scripture guide you, not your preferences.
@@AlixPrappas I don't believe that it's for us to say what a brother or sister may or may not listen to. I know Christians who listen to the blackest metal they can find, and others who won't play anything heavier than Cliff Richard's "Mistletoe and Wine". If the Holy spirit doesn't convict a person to change their listening habits, it's not our place to think we can do a better job. I would apply Romans 14:1-3 in this instance.
The devil wears a suit and tie and deals with the devil are real. True darkness comes from those with all the power, money and control. Not the musicians up on stage.
Not every interview he’s going to talk about his former band if you were fired from a job and then started your own business then you’re former job shouldn’t mean shit
Keep in mind that the real Lucifer was supposedly the most beautiful of all heaven's angels. If you are looking for satan, then you are looking for the most conservative, beautiful person you have ever seen in a million dollar evening gown or 3 piece suit. As Alice Cooper said, you won't find Satan amidst the Halloween of heavy metal.
According to Bible experts, Lucifer and Satan aren't the same being. This misunderstanding all comes from a prophecy about the king of Bablyon, in Isaiah 14:12. Now this doesn't mean he wasn't an angel, most likely he was because he clearly existed before God created man.

I'm Christian and I'm a 15 year old Metalhead. Slayer is my all time favorite band along with Pantera. I listen to Venom, Mercyful Fate(King Diamond is my favorite metal vocalist❤), Anthrax, Megadeth, Ozzy of course, Mötley Crüe, Possessed, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson - two of my favorites❤ and many more. All I can say is that I love the music, I listen to lyrics and I see art in it. Yeah, it's dark and sometimes weird, but it doesn’t affect me. The bands that I just wrote, I love them not only as musicians, for example Marilyn Manson is so intelligent, educated and well spoken man, besides music, I can say same thing about King Diamond. Cronos from Venom is one of the greatest showman in Metal. So I love music and no matter, even if it's satanic , it's all about the music for me.
I know he never intended this to happen, but every time I see that Gaahl interview, I burst out laughing every time he says, with the gravity of a thousands suns, "Say-tan."
Ozzy was pretty funny. Tobias was probably the one that really made sense. Lars was just fucking lars. In my opinion it is just to f with people and make them be like: Oh my gosh! They are talking about the devil! Baaaad music... Very few rock/metal musicians actually worship satan. Most of em like to just make people think and then be scared but that's it. Slayer for example aren't satanists... THEY JUST LIKE FUCKING WITH PEOPLE!!!
I went through my heavy metal phase when I was in my 20s during the 80s. I had a friend from tech school who was a Pentacostal. He loaned me two tapes with people talking about the reverse, backmasking, of rock songs. I can recall someone on one of these tapes telling everyone to bring all their rock music media and throw it into a bonfire. I returned his tapes and told him that I believed this was just hysteria, and it was, and I still believe that today. These were the times when people believed that subliminal advertising and reverse/backmasking messages on media could actually affect a person's subconscious mind. I don't believe that there is much truth in that. That is not how the devil entices people into doing his work. Today, the devil is present in our music, our video entertainment, and our computer games more than ever before. He doesn't trick people with subliminal messaging, he tricks people by normalizing violence and immorality through our mass media. He tricks people by convincing the reverends of our churches to lighten up on the fire and brimstone. When our technology brought to us the mass media, it brought greedy people who saw this as a way to become wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. People who want money and power over anything else are easily tricked by the devil into doing his work. Now we have video, music, and computer games that glorify violence and immorality and, as a result, our society is becoming rude, dishonest, immoral, and many believing in freedom to do anything with no restrictions, no punishment, even if they hurt others with what they do. So, to cut this short, there are a lot of satanic songs out there, but you don't have to play them backwards to hear the satanic message that is within them, you just have to listen to the lyrics.
Best answer iv read. I'm a metal head myself but, 90% of the bands are not satanist. It's no different than dressing "as the devil" for Halloween or for a Easter play at church. It's an ACT. do I agree with it? Not really but, I'm not going to condemn someone because of their music style or how they dress. It ain't my place to judge 👌
Look at our culture now though.. it’s decayed to that of immorality and “do as though wilt” mentality which is exactly what Crowley and his followers wanted. Our society is dead, not strictly due to this but the subliminals in ALL of our media. Music, movies, tv shows, they all program us to decay morally.
"It takes me all the time to get myself out of bed in the morning how am I gonna conjure a devil." - Ozzy Yeaaa truue, if that isn't the truth for most of us Ozzy 😂😭
Ozzy is a legend, seen him live three times , is very funny but ..deceived. music is a very powerful tool of Satan and is used in much pop n metal sadly. Be discerning in what you listen to and watch or idolize.
Alice Cooper is definitely right. If you were looking for the real thing you aren’t gonna find it with a bunch of edgy boys dressing up and playing guitar.
Upon serious consideration, the most beneficial music is Byzantine Monastic Chants. Such music never gets boring-listening to stairway to heaven and bohemian rhapsody continuously will eventually drive anyone nuts.
Glenn Benton himself said, " It's all about the metal ,that's all it is " I think he's said the same in the " when London burns" dvd a lot of musicians take it seriously when they are in their teens , you soon grow up and realise that being In any religious organisation is the best place to find yourself .
Being in any religious organisation is the best place to be?????? No way. What about cults? They're "religious" organisations!! Opus Dey too, one of the most possessive and worst cults around.
What is so bizarre/difficult for me, as a devout Christian, is the fact that I would love to meet Mr. Darski/Nergal. You can tell he is just a really down-to-earth guy, and talent-wise, he is one of my very favorite musicians.
I've somewhat moved past intentionally listening to spiritual bands, since no one path fits me, despite still believing in something aka somethingism. (Vague, I know, but meh.) I prefer either sci-fi lyrics or just weird lyrics in general and sometimes, I don't really care to code the lyrics to figure out what the band is singing/screaming about, I do, however, avoid bands who try to push an annoying agenda I don't like, like, if I found out a super metaphorical song goes against my ideas, depending on how extreme it is, I might not listen to it again, it just depends, I know "music is music" but meh. It all just depends what the lyrics mean, or whatever, meh, sometimes I only care for the sound of the band though like instruments/genre, stuff like that.
So odd looking back at all the mainstream music videos with the same symbolism: snakes, owls, dogs, cats, bathtubs, a person dying and coming back from the dead, the all seeing 👁, lightning, the planet saturn, songs about the left hand, ect. It's especially weird how people in the music industry blow up in popularity once someone close to them dies. I'm sure it's all coincidence though, or an epic troll on those crazy conspiracy theorists xD
Dave, if you truly believe in the abrahamic mythology, then you have to know that all angels are supposed to look like fucking monsters. Angels aren't beautiful, even Lucifer, unless you are some kind of psychopath. Go ahead, look up what lore accurate angels look like.
I’m a Muslim and I would never accept the idea of satanism in Islam we believe satan is real and he is dangerous however that being said I won’t force anyone to like change there satanic beliefs cause I don’t really care enough And all I really care about is music unless of the lyrics are too satanic like I listen to some borgirs songs so yeah
The only approach to Satanism that made any sense for me is the one LaVey describes in his Satanic Bible- which, when you go through it, is actually a philosophical treaty rather than a religious book where he simply explores an existence focused on our time on Earth rather than on a higher power and an afterlife. True, the last quarter of the book is gibberish incantations, but the rest is quite reasonable.
It is but using something quite synonymous with the word evil probably isn’t that convincing to most people ESPECIALLY religious people. Which is why i find the whole "satanism means individuality, freedom and rebellion and shiz." thing not working it’s just not it for most people.
As an occultist who actually knows Lord Lucifer, I believe Dave Mustaine when he describes his experiences with him. The two things that struck me were the fact that he said he isn't some ugly red guy, but actually a beautiful angel (which is true in my experiences), and the fact he said "he could be in this room and we wouldn't know it", which is also true, he can be anywhere at anytime. Unlike Mustaine though I plan on being an occultist until the day I die. With that said though, I do think Mustaine was being honest.
Y’all won’t find this so funny when you start getting possessed and abused by demons or better yet eternally so. Maybe actually thinking about eternity for 5 seconds instead of constantly dulling your senses to trascendental realities will perhaps make you realize what you actually want and don’t want. Good luck
Its always interesting listening to people talk about Satanism who know nothing of it but their hollywood fantasies or from religious "experts" who haven't a clue either.
Religious churches focused on their own traditions have failed many of us. They don't focus on the truth, on the word of God but on themselves too much just like the Pharisees in Jesus's time on earth. Read the word in the Bible and listen to that and you will find the truth and the truth will set you free. Knowing about Satan comes from the Bible and it's warnings about him. John 8:31-32 (NKJV): 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Proverbs 17:4 (NKJV): 4 An evildoer gives heed to false lips; A liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue. John 8:42-45 (NKJV): 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. John 1:1 (NKJV): The Deity of Christ 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
I think Alice Cooper and Mustaine have it the most right. Mustaine himself went from being in the occult to become a full blown Christian, so I wager he has the most perspective. Also his description of the devil is what’s actually in the Bible “an Angel of light” as he’s described.
I concur. Dave was right. Somehow, like Dave, I experienced occultism. It took control of some aspects of life without being fully aware. Sometimes, that was something odds that I couldn't explain. I wasn't a "Christ believer"... then strang stuff occured. At 18yo, a classmate who was 3feets away from noticed something strange about my eyes. I saw him observing me for over a minute in my peripheral vision. I didn't care about it. Then, he said "Hey" and waved at me. I turned my head at his direction. He said: "Your eyes, they are back to normal now. You had cateyes. How did you do that?" I didn't understand what he meant. But when he was observing me, I heard voices in my head in a language that I couldn't understand, like whispering. I was filled with a disgust emotion when it did happen. And then, at 26yo, after my father past away, I had a strange dream. I saw myself alone floating in a room. A voice was calling me. I saw my myself heading to that voice. It was a long hair "Nordic" type of guy in white clothes. He said "I summoned you here because we need to talk. You are not following the path that we dressed for you. I am telling you, we have a great destiny for you if you follow our plan as you plegged to follow before." At the moment, I knew who he was.
@@Aaron-zh4kj ... But it didn't end there. I was sent in Hell after that because I refused to follow the plan. I was sent in Hell to reconsider a new offer with an another demonic entity. You know, it was a lucid dream. Like it was meant to let make to my own choice. Very strange.
Everyone has an opinion about the Devil, and so few realize that it's humans. We are the only real Devils on this planet. We are the only ones destroying "God's creation",period. Edit: And then I learned about the Anunnaki.
My own experience: Magick, no matter what color, works on intention and manifestation. No devil necessary. No god necessary. My own experience: There are entities in other dimensions. People don't know shit about them (xianity's "god" included), yet they give them their allegiance and worship. They give them trust, sight unseen, character unknown. My experiences = not so good. (Someone, adept at soul travel, came back with the report that the aforementioned entity is actually some sort of "defect", and created a defective universe -- wherein it has to feed on a combination of positive and negative energy in order to continue existence. So it pulls a Cluster B stunt: cause suffering, then smooth it over with pleasure or reward, thus inducing cortisol + oxytocin response. Again, however, this is a subjective account. But it's an experience for consideration.) Working with your Highest Self and Gnosis have been (for me, note that) the safest route when engaging Magick or Manifestation. This part of you knows _your past life karma,_ and will help you break your cycles instead of manifesting their continuation; it is about working on yourself, and utilizes Stoicism as well. In Conclusion: Most of the individuals in this video are unaware of what Satanism truly is, have mistook Magick Working or Manifestation for Satanism, and/or have attributed their own manifestations to an otherworldly entity, and/or have let society's pervasive xian ideology taint the well of their understanding. True Satanism is atheistic. Theistic Satanism/Devil Worship includes otherworldly entities. Magick can be its own path, no entities necessary. Manifestation can stand alone from belief systems. Manifestation also appears in the New Age route, but is not defined by it. Luciferianism is not Satanism. Thelema is not Satanism. Theosophy is not Satanism. And, generally, most things are not Satanism. P.S. Tobias Forge is probably the best and most well-versed on the subject, and this clip does no justice to the many insights he's shared. This segment, however, is a good representation of what the figure of Satan personifies in Satanism. AND, let it be known, that this gentleman has stated emphatically that he is _not_ a Satanist, because that requires atheism. He realizes there are things we don't understand, and that people pretend to when they absolutely shouldn't! *Bravo, min bror!* And Alice Cooper says it the most simple and concise: "satanism" in Rock music is Halloween! 😁
Interesting comment. You are intelligent. One thing forge says in this clip is that there is a difference in biblical satan and pop culture satan. I don’t think there is. Every example he gave for the pop culture satan (and how he resonated with it) was exactly what the Bible describes satan (Lucifer or the evil one) to be. So therefore it seems to me that he may be confused
@@jasoncrocker5138 Well, thank you! What a nice compliment. ❤ That's one of the reasons I felt this clip was a lackluster choice. Forge does not expound on the difference between biblical and pop cultural. I wonder if this at all stems from his experience with a zealously religious step-mother -- who was resentful of him -- and a school teacher who was also ultra-religious and very adversarial with him. Extremists can confuse traditions with the actual basis for a religion. However, coming from his background, I'm guessing "biblical devil" in this context is satan as a being who uses subversive means to deceive others into believing they are being liberated, thus condemning themselves vs Lucifer utilizing art, film, music, comedy, theater, etc. (i.e. pop culture) to _actually_ liberate man from superstition, fear, and ignorance. If it is this, then his take on Lucifer is very akin to Gnosticism [or, again, the way Satanism utilizes the figure of Satan to represent their pursuits]. Again, about the worst clip they could have chosen (due to lack of clarification), but having suffered numerous years of religious abuse myself, I think I understand the angle he's coming from.
True Satanism is atheistic? That shit came out of the new age garbo from the 1900's. If you know your shit the question you should ask the self proclaimed Satan worshipers is which one do you worship. Also the thing you're referring to as the chirstian god ain't the thing they think they think they worship. That would be the 1st Satan and that mofo is the origin of this dead universe for The Father of Snakes was slain. Many entities claim the throne but the last legit Satan was Lu-chan, whose avatar seemly is on a tour around the Euphrates.
Incredibly based take, people do indeed mistake any form of magick or manifestation as devil worship. Wish people were less paranoid and more educated on these things...
Like "the greatest trick that Satan ever pulled off was convincing everyone that he doesn't exist" yeah not original, but he obviously wanted it known.
99.99% of the time, any kind of religious themes in Metal and Hard Rock are specifically for the shock value. Metal started as a the music iteration of a giant middle finger. It's about pain, anguish, misery, anger, sadness, redemption and yes even happiness. It's about shock value. How hard can we make the music? How can we make this song feel like it punched you in your fucking face? So satanic imagery in metal is only for the purpose of adding to that punch. You'll find the musicians are certainly not satanists, and in fact I many cases they're even Christians or Catholics. The only real places you'll find actual satanism in metal, is black metal, and SOME death metal.

Agreed. Its kind of hacky

totally.

The only approach to Satanism that made any sense for me is the one LaVey describes in his Satanic Bible- which, when you go through it, is actually a philosophical treaty rather than a religious book where he simply explores an existence focused on our time on Earth rather than on a higher power and an afterlife.
True, the last quarter of the book is gibberish incantations, but the rest is quite reasonable.
agreed
Dave has been there and back.

32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Proverbs 17:4 (NKJV): 4 An evildoer gives heed to false lips;
A liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue.
John 1:1 (NKJV): The Deity of Christ
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

But it's an experience for consideration.)
Working with your Highest Self and Gnosis have been (for me, note that) the safest route when engaging Magick or Manifestation.
*Bravo, min bror!*
And Alice Cooper says it the most simple and concise: "satanism" in Rock music is Halloween!
That's one of the reasons I felt this clip was a lackluster choice.
Not sure if a video could get any more Loudwire than this. Not worth 5minutes of my life.
Dang, that Gaahl sure has a way with words.
All super natural beliefs were created by ancient man to try to make sense of things they couldn't truly comprehend at the time, I realized this when I reached the age of reason.
No King Diamond? He's much more rational than Dave Mustaine.
Man Dave is a wacky dude
Satanists are basically just naughty Christians gone astray because it's all characters out of the same book. It's just like Gandalf and Suron in the lord of the rings.
