I just wanted to tell you how happy it made me to remember when you used to say you didn't think you were a poetry girlie and now to hear you say you love starting your mornings with poetry because you found YOUR TYPE of poetry, I don't know, it just made me smile because poetry CAN be such "a pocket of peace amongst the chaos of life"! Thank you for another great vlog!
hi ally. there's an artist called agust d that has amazing lyrics. his song 'burn it' has a line that says "don't forget that giving up decisively also counts as courage". it has helped me a lot to remember that. hopefully it'll do the same for you. love youuuu
Sooo happy that the merch is available for preorder for a month cause your girl is ✨ broke ✨ but devoted. Also thanks for being you. You’re inspiring me to step into my own and celebrate what makes me, me. 🐌 💖
I really appreciate what you shared about leaving school to go to the hospital. I've left my job to go into inpatient care for my mental health and I'm constantly battling the feeling that that's a failure. But taking care of myself needs to be the most important thing, always.
Thank you for being the mouthpiece of the audience when it comes to sharing book recs! It's hard to search/filter through all of the comments or all of the discord messages to find every rec, so to see you reintroduce some of the recommendations that are shared by the viewers is a big help for my easily overwhelmed mind! And even bigger thank you for the community that constantly recommends books for everyone!
I don't usually comment but I just wanted to say that I've been watching your videos for a few months now, and they've become a huge source of comfort! I look forward to your uploads every week and set aside a bit of time to watch them and relax every Sunday
Love this! ❤ One of my favourite books about pushing back against productivity and crip time is A Still Life by Josie George. Disability Visibility and also Sick magazine have great essays/thoughts on these topics, too. Can't wait to get to the new K. O'Neill. xx
I found you RIGHT after the merch closed last time and I can't tell you how much 'there's no rush' has impacted me this year. Can't wait for my new tee!
Gosh 11:40 section got me right in the feels. I have been proud of my ‘no’s in the moment because it’s usually been pushed upon me and I feel relief from ‘FINE, I GET IT, NO THEN!’ But in the following years I’ve found it so hard to see the merit in those no’s. And they *were* courageous. Thank you for reminding us, A ❤
ally's videos always make feel comfy, understood, and hungry... her meals look sooo good! also so excited for the merch and happy that we have time to preorder the goods. just casually waiting for my tax money to come back so i can get some of the merch ♡♡
I'm also reading Laziness Does Not Exist right now, it's amazing. I stumbled across Ada Limon at the bookstore the other day and excited to pick up something from her soon, I'm slowly getting into reading poetry.
omg the sisterhood of the traveling pants! I rewatched it for the first time in years a few weeks ago and shed many many tears. It still holds up after all this time.
oh I'm so excited to finally get a 'there's no rush' shirt! I just got diagnosed with autism earlier this month :-) gastropods (specifically nudibranchs & snails) are so so so beloved to me; it gives me a burst of happiness every time you show your snails squiggling around
I started thinking about "failures" with a different mindset and not even really considering them that anymore. More like, a change of plans, which life is full of. In a world that loves to see people "die trying", I've started asking myself more, "is this even worth it"? Perseverance through tough stuff is essential sometimes, but if its at the expense of your health and joy, a confident quit is probably the real winning move
I feel so grateful that I found you and your chanel one day I don't even how long ago because it seems sometimes that we're leaving through the same struggles and when I feel like I don't know what to do and which way is the best one to take, you always have something so thoughtful to say that just makes me hopeful and makes me thing that I can go through one more day ❤
I missed this launch cuz I had a spoonie crisis and didn’t stay caught up on RUclips videos! I hope this merch will be dropped again soon because I love them all so much ❤
Renting wall troubles highly relatable. I put up all my art with tape thinking it would be fine only to remove said tape and watch the literal wall paint flake and peel off entirely in gigantic strips like hallo. What to heck.
With regards to books that challenge the way we think about humans and work, you might really enjoy Bullshit Jobs by David Graeber! It's a really fascinating read about how humans work, why humans often aren't fulfilled by modern work, why the 9-5 is bullshit, and how the idea of what "work" even is came about!
idk if you already read the books from rupi kaur but i recommend them to you! they are poems which make me feel well and relaxed and grateful for what i have. it was also interesting to read her sorrow through poems
YAY SO EXCITED TO ORDER MERCH!!! and sigh the complicated feelings about the laziness book, yep yep yep relatable. i highly recommend Rest Is Resistance by Tricia Hersey, that book made me cryyyyy... it was a bit repetitive, but overall a great balance between on the one hand just a kind voice stating "rest is an essential right and you need to rest and you deserve to rest without feeling bad about it" while on the other hand also the practical/realistic voice stating "of COURSE this topic is probably stressful for you that's valid and you're not crazy, cuz the existing structures of capitalism and patriarchy and systemic racism are DESIGNED to make you feel compelled to work yourself to death, so the best thing you can do right now in the midst of existing within this system is to find the small habits you can protect for your own rest, that is a small way you can push back against these unfair systems."
had such an overstimulating week, and had set aside today as my ‘do nothing day’ to recover and still ended up with so many things to do! Finally cosying up and watching some RUclips 🍄
Rest is Resistance- a manifesto by Tricia Hersey. Made it one chapter into the myth of normal, searched the e book for the word ableism….and not mentioned once. given what the whole book is discussing i dnf it bc of that!
ooh Ally I just realized you should totally read World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments by Aimee Nezhukumatathil! she's a poet but in this book of short essays is writing about nature in a way that weaves in memoir elements as well and it is excellent and absolutely on brand for you! (it's published by the same folks who published Braiding Sweetgrass!)
on my way to preorder me and my bestie (who has no clue who you are but loves snails and is constantly stressed out about being behind in life) some shirts yeehaw
ALLY!!! I remember in a previous video you said you really love books told from the perspective of the elderly and I just finished a book that I think you'll love!!! It's called Creatures of a Day by Irvin Yalom and it's a collection of short stories of a psychiatrist helping various patients deal with the death of loved ones + confronting their own mortality. A lot of the patients are definitely what we would categorize as a "boomer" lol although not EVERY story is about someone from that age range. I kept on thinking "allisonpaiges would love this book" the whole time while reading it so I thought I'd share!!! (i share some excerpts in my most recent video at the end in case ur curious as to if this book is up you alley or not cause this could be a total misjudgement on my end lmao)
I would highly recommend On the Spectrum by Daniel Bowman! Among other topics, it deals with a lot of similar themes around de-tangling your own ableism and comparing yourself to how much others are doing. He is writing from a Christian perspective, but I really don't think you don't have to be Christian or religious to enjoy the book (I'm not and I loved it), in fact, he is really writing against a lot of mainstream Christian ideas about what it means to be a good person, serve others and your community, etc. (that of course bleed into the ideas of general society as a whole). He is also a poet so the writing is so beautiful. It was such an informative and hopeful reading experience for me! Thank you for the cozy vlog...and I can't wait to get my hands on the merch! :)
I’m going to see Ada Limòn read some of her poetry next month. She’s the US poet laureate! I can’t wait to check out Devon Price’s books! I ordered a tee and sweatshirt! Love your channel! Thank you!
Thank you for such a cozy vlog. I’m having a rough go of it today, but this video + your merch announcement made me feel a bit better. Absolutely cannot wait to have pink Ally merch 🥺🩷🐌
your videos are always so comforting :') oh and as someone who also lives in belgium, every time it is sunny outside i am wearing a t-shirt and shorts because somehow, after all those gloomy days (did you know we only got two days of sunshine in march), every ray of sunshine feels as if summer has already arrived
bare minimum mondays should become the new hustle culture, let's all read in our cool (pink) snail t-shirts celebrating the slow bear-on-the-tea-box lifestyle!
Your videos are so positive and affirming. I appreciate them so much! The internet is filled with so much toxicity. Your videos are my safe space after my work week ends on Sunday ❤️
I just bought two shirts! I'm excited to get them. Your kimchi fried rice looks goooood and I'm craving it. I might make it soon. Snail mail or slow mail is underrated, especially with postcards and small cards. Also, I don't know if anyone mentioned this but I just realized after watching your videos for awhile, the pacing is so ADHD friendly and straight to the point. It's very enjoyable and easy to watch your videos. I'm off to my porch to read in the sun to enjoy this slow and relaxing Sunday. Have a marvelous week!
Making coffee and watching your videos is slowly becoming a Sunday ritual 🥰 Devon's books are so good, I was reading Laziness does not exist on Kindle from the library, I had to buy it even before I fin is reading it!
SCREECH new shirt design! Also those bookmarks are beautiful! I just finished unmasking autism yesterday and was curious how price’s other book was. Thanks for sharing!
I moved so many times, the stress it caused me every single time is insane. But I am so happy for you and your new flat looks lovely. The sticky wall stuff is a bummer. But I swear there are options out there that don't leave marks. Unfortunately the problem you will never solve is that you get dust frames after a while, but depending on the walls, you can wash them off without destroying the paint. If you want to know more about that at some point, feel free to drop me a dm on IG.
omg i feel your sticky tack pain 🙃🙃 when i was moving out of my dorm last semester i had to spend hourrssssss pulling it all off my wall and trying to scrub the stains clean with lysol lol
Yay, been waiting for this day! Ordered a sweatshirt! They look so cozy and I’m so happy they’re back 🐌 💜 My son is on the spectrum as well, so thank you for connecting your merch to Autism. Also thank you for your creativity and amazing-ness. I look so forward to your videos and recommendations every week ❤️
I saw on StoryGraph a few days ago that you had finished "Laziness Does Not Exist" and immediately got the ebook after reading the blurb and seeing who the author is. As someone who also didn't know I was autistic until I was an adult it's been really hard for me to stop putting myself down for not being able to do as much as I'd like to be doing. The merch looks great! My budget is looking rough this month (thanks to all my recent book purchases hahaha) but I'm going to see if I can find some extra money somewhere. Do you think you'd ever sell tote bags? I think a lot of your designs would look great on a tote! Lastly seeing the curry you made reminded me of a dhal recipe that I haven't had in a while but need to make ASAP before the weather gets too warm 🍲
girlies wake up, our comfort internet person upload a new video 🎉
:')
100% this!
hi ally. there's an artist called agust d that has amazing lyrics. his song 'burn it' has a line that says "don't forget that giving up decisively also counts as courage". it has helped me a lot to remember that. hopefully it'll do the same for you. love youuuu
Okay, but why do all of Ally's meals look better than literally everything I've ever made?😭
really inspiring me to eat more veggies tho 😅
Same😂
Sooo happy that the merch is available for preorder for a month cause your girl is ✨ broke ✨ but devoted. Also thanks for being you. You’re inspiring me to step into my own and celebrate what makes me, me. 🐌 💖
The stuck sticky tack on the wall was such relatable agony! (≧(エ)≦ ) The 'I trusted you sticky tack!!' is so real.
What a moment to capture from the chaos that is season 4 of Love is Blind.
I really appreciate what you shared about leaving school to go to the hospital. I've left my job to go into inpatient care for my mental health and I'm constantly battling the feeling that that's a failure. But taking care of myself needs to be the most important thing, always.

I love that zines have made a strong comeback. They were some of my favorite art forms in the 90s.
Thank you for reminding us, A ❤
Your videos never fail the fill my heart with so much joy and peace ❤
ally's videos always make feel comfy, understood, and hungry... her meals look sooo good! also so excited for the merch and happy that we have time to preorder the goods. just casually waiting for my tax money to come back so i can get some of the merch ♡♡
I love seeing creators find win/wins with cute sustainable merch! 💗 you rock
I'm also reading Laziness Does Not Exist right now, it's amazing.
I stumbled across Ada Limon at the bookstore the other day and excited to pick up something from her soon, I'm slowly getting into reading poetry.
the design of the shirts is so beautiful I cannot wait to get my own!!! thank you for creating such beautiful little things 🥹
omg the sisterhood of the traveling pants! I rewatched it for the first time in years a few weeks ago and shed many many tears. It still holds up after all this time.
I love seeing snippets of your home, it looks so nice 🏡💚
oh I'm so excited to finally get a 'there's no rush' shirt! I just got diagnosed with autism earlier this month :-) gastropods (specifically nudibranchs & snails) are so so so beloved to me; it gives me a burst of happiness every time you show your snails squiggling around
Alli’s joy is so contagious 🤍
I started thinking about "failures" with a different mindset and not even really considering them that anymore. More like, a change of plans, which life is full of. Thank you for making the shirts a pre-order AND having more sizes! It's so appreciated ❤
As The Format once brilliantly said, 🎶Snails see the benefits, the beauty in every inch🎶
So in love with these shirts, and snails, and YOU! ❤
THE CUTEST MERCH EVER 😭🫶🏼🥺💘🥰
"In freedom of course" ☠️ omg Ally you are and always will be the funniest person on RUclips
I feel so grateful that I found you and your chanel one day I don't even how long ago because it seems sometimes that we're leaving through the same struggles and when I feel like I don't know what to do and which way is the best one to take, you always have something so thoughtful to say that just makes me hopeful and makes me thing that I can go through one more day ❤
Oh my goodness!!! I loved absolutely everything about this video. So relaxing and refreshing. Good food and good vibes!! Yasssss!!
wow. that little blurb you read from Laziness Does Not Exist made me really emotional.
I missed this launch cuz I had a spoonie crisis and didn’t stay caught up on RUclips videos! I hope this merch will be dropped again soon because I love them all so much ❤
You've become my comfort booktuber and brighten my days. Thank you for being you
Sometimes it's so hard to slow down, so it's nice to have a reminder to do that in whatever way that comes. Having it in snail form is pretty cool🙂🐌
Renting wall troubles highly relatable. I put up all my art with tape thinking it would be fine only to remove said tape and watch the literal wall paint flake and peel off entirely in gigantic strips like hallo. What to heck.

oooooh this is on my online tbr but i might just have to boost its priority!
I started tearing up at 17.02. My god Alli, the music, the nose scrunch, the lovely vibes; you never fail to make my day so much better. Much love!!

My favorite part of Sunday mornings ❤️
I also started wearing an apron while eating because I got sick of staining everything.
Rest is Resistance- a manifesto by Tricia Hersey. Made it one chapter into the myth of normal, searched the e book for the word ableism….and not mentioned once. given what the whole book is discussing i dnf it bc of that!
you make me feel so peaceful & so cosy!!! & your new apartment is so lovely, I am so happy for you 🥰🥰
Oh maaaan, I just bought books and now I have to buy MORE! The moth keeper is too beautiful

I forgot how good Xenoblade music is. I used to listen to the Nopon Forest tracks endlessly.
you're one of my favorite booktubers for sure. with you i'm learning to appreciate the little victories of life

Ahhhhhhhhhhh so happy to see a new video & the merch go live 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
I am definitely ordering the Laziness does not exist! I love your vlogs - cozyness, mundane love and they also make me think! Thank you!

I just want to say I have just recently discovered your channel and I am obsessed with your personality keep it up! :D
I saw Moth Keeper at my local bookstore and immediately thought of Alli - so it’s funny that she bought it too :,)
Is the book Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey on your radar?
I just bought two shirts! I'm excited to get them. Your kimchi fried rice looks goooood and I'm craving it. I might make it soon. my thoughts exactly regarding that (traumatising) love is blind moment😂
It’s hailed here in Chicago a couple times this week. Would you consider sharing recipes? I’m dying to make that curry!
Definitely recommend looking into more of Ada Limon's poetry. Another great video, Ally!
Making coffee and watching your videos is slowly becoming a Sunday ritual 🥰
Devon's books are so good, I was reading Laziness does not exist on Kindle from the library, I had to buy it even before I fin is reading it!

Video watched. Shirt ordered. Sunday is off to a great start!
If you want to know more about that at some point, feel free to drop me a dm on IG.
omg i feel your sticky tack pain 🙃🙃 when i was moving out of my dorm last semester i had to spend hourrssssss pulling it all off my wall and trying to scrub the stains clean with lysol lol
it's been a NIGHTMARE dana haha glad you understand my pain (but not glad you've felt it)
Yay, been waiting for this day!

I am so happy for you Alli! Yes to thriving & more happy sunshine! :D
The spring vibes ❤ I'm hoping my winter tears here in Alaska are warm enough to melt the snow around me 😂😂
I love your cooking. It seems delicious. 😊
Lastly seeing the curry you made reminded me of a dhal recipe that I haven't had in a while but need to make ASAP before the weather gets too warm 🍲
i'm so hyped for the new design and the sweatshirt!!!💖 whaaaaaaaaaaat !! i recently got the moth keeper as well!!!!
thank you! me tooooo!
