- Hey Everyone!
This new Linear crimper by Milwaukee is awesome! The changes they made with the balance and triggers are the finishing touches this thing really needed. I wouldn't change a thing💯 👌 I actually had to redo the video and figure out a way to edit in the bit about how much I've been using the cutting attachments. I can't believe I never considered using a mechanical tool for cutting before! If I had to choose, I'd go with the "O"/D3 head and the ACSR cutting head as my favorite attachments.
I highly recommend this tool!
Hope you all had a great weekend! 🍻👊

I would never have thought I'd be using a battery cutter while working on triplex! It's so easy I feel like I'm cheating 😁🙌✌ Have a great weekend everyone! 👊🍻
I got some good advice at one of my jobs working as a stock clerk in my younger days. He said "if you find a quick and easy way to do that job then it has to be better and faster which is good"... so the moral of the story is "cheating is good"
I been watching your video for some time now I am currently a sr groundman for Ibew and I was wondering if I sound try inside wireman first or lineman or the other way around your input would be greatly appreciate it
@@jorgevillagran9161 go the line side man , as a JL you will have a lot more job options than JWs. I have a few friends that are JWs and if your willing to travel you can make a lot more money than they do.
Milwaukee 100% dominates the market in specialized tools for different trades
Yeah it's crazy how much Milwaukee has taken over specialized trades and is disrupting the over tools power tools market all together. Not only that but plus there packout system. I left dewalt 2 years ago and never looked back and I am extremely happy
You never tries huskie lineman tools... milwaukee are marketing king but their lineman crimper cutter suck compare to huskie
My brother is still a DeWalt man.@@srt4fan4u2
Lineman's elbow. Time to retire!. Nope, a career extender has come along!
I don't know about that, what about my knees.
So when we called the Utility Dispatch today for trees on live wires...we specifically asked for You Tube Star "Bobsdecline"; dispatcher had no idea what we were talking about...so we told him about the site...so hopefully you have another fan. CYA on the road....be safe. Enjoyed your tool viz.
I have the older, compact version of this tool for making battery cables for commercial trucks, heavy equipment, and generators; that and all the dies from 10ga to 750mcm. This tool was a game changer for me when on a service call and I started leaving the Enerpac in the truck. Milwaukee makes the most reliable battery operated tools for my use and I have gladly invested in them.
Watching from Portland, Maine I'm not a lineman but love your videos. Thanks.
watching from Ohio, USA. Did apprentice line work 20+ years ago. Had a great mentor. I wish we had the tools you guys have today. Worked in a small town....not much money to fund the "toys" per say. My respect to you and ALL linemen, you have a thankless job! Stay safe sir!
Love our Milwaukee tools! Thankful our utility purchases them for us!
The best tools are those that make you feel like you're cheating, and those are the ones that make you money. Use them whenever you can, save time, save money, and save fatigue.
Great tool, Great review!
Thanks!
Thank you for showing us the tool and the heads for it.
Massachusetts USA 👊
I don't even do that kind of work anymore, and I want one of those!
Just the fact you can use the one tool to cut and crimp and swap in a few seconds and only have to take one tool and a attachment pouch and have everything you will need to work without thinking about having everything just makes it so much easier. Not a lineman but I do appreciate a very well designed tool.
I saw you had a Huskie. You should try the SL. Bigger motor and a head that can quick change heads like this one. Solid tool.
Looks like a fun tool! If ever you somehow come across one that is dead or that you otherwise are allowed to "dispose" of, you should send one to AvE for a teardown. :D
Great tools make the work easy. NS, stay healthy!
smooth like butter, wish my MD-6 could do that. work safe line brother
Looks like a nice tool.. we use Hilti tools where I work and all the interchangeable heads are very nice. Stay safe
I really appreciate you making this video. Thank you brother!
Nice demonstration, very informative, considering purchasing one
Nice to see and old Westinghouse Transformer still in use,
Thank you. Nice they have the power tools.
Excellent video. Great info and demos.
Nice bit of kit
Credit to you for all your Hard work and expertise!,,, Thank you
Colorado 👊👊 thank you for reviewing the crimper
🤜🏻🤜🏻🤜🏻 watching from Lake Charles, Louisiana.
🤛🤛
Good review man, you covered everything I think I could question about that tool. I'm thinking about picking one up and was looking for some insight, but damn that price tag is a tough pill to swallow.
You got yourself a displaced Canadian watching your videos from Roswell, New Mexico.
Maybe I'll wind up back in Canada one of these days if work picks up 🤷
Newport News, VA. I only use the acsr cutter. Will cut 5/16 and 7/16 guys easy. Also the cutter will cut bigger wire just have to make a dent with the first cut. Second on that will keep going.
Another great and informative video thank you so much Southwest Missouri
Watching from Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺
Great videos mate!👍😀
Boeing Prime Power Plant 2 Seattle. Big Fan and have used a lot of your techniques and suggestions. Keep up the great work and be safe
That's awesome! Thanks for dropping by 👊
Apprentice from Ottawa leaving for storm work tomorrow⛈
Be safe out there Connor! Especially in unfamiliar territory 👊✌️
Keep up your very good vlogs .👊👊🇳🇿 Hamilton New Zealand
I'm not a lineman I have dealt with a little bit of private utility but that is a nice toy I raised a hand press a couple times but if I was a lineman I would have to have that just remember it can be shocking⚡⚡
Very informative video excellent
You need Hastings 11-014 Made for ACSR and will do a 500MCM conductor and will fit in your pocket. Not taking anything from the Milwaukee but they are very handy cutters.
Also if you are climbing a pole, you can hook that loop on your carabeaner on your tool belt.
I always used ratchet cutters on triplex, but these battery operated tools weren’t as available when I was a lineman. Of course when I was still a lineman we didn’t even wear FR we were just suppose to wear 100% cotton shirts.
Ecxelente y práctica 👍🏼👌🏼 sáludos desde México
Got mine today. Only thing you didn’t cover is the third release button. It opens much slower than the 2 front button, so I guess if you don’t need to open it all the way use the rear button.
Watching from COOLAMON, NSW AUSTRALIA.
Wow that westinghouse transformer! 14:20 Thats so cool! Do you know what year it is?
Watching from philippines😊😊
I'm sorry if I didn't hear it, but what diameter was the thicker aluminum / steel rope? we cut the rope with hand pinches, not electrically 🤜🏻🤛🏻
You also forgot to mention the manual pressure release button. If you are in the middle of a crimp, and your battery dies, (some people like to push the battery to its limit), you can release the pressure on the jaws without the power from the battery. Its that round black button on the middle of the tool
Does it last better than the old model in the cold? If I have the older model up in the bucket for more than an hour in -20 or colder I can only get a few squeezes ant then need a new battery. Then MD-6 time. Thanks for the video series. Have show a few videos to our apprentices. We’ve had lots of problems with the porcelain cutouts I saw on previous videos. Crack then leak then fail. Stay safe. IBEW 319 Saskatoon.
Do you have to let the jaws open all the way up before starting the next press?
Unfortunately, I'm sticking with Burndy until Milwaukee fixes this.
These are a life saver. Bone handles are a thing of the past
Definitely a game changer!
We have a gator at work its amazing so much smaller. Which makes a huge difference in the marine industry
Also auto releases
Can you use that quick release pin on the older model? Wondering if I can convert it?
Keep us updated on the long term durability!
I got the same tool but with 750mcm cutting jaw, do you think I can just buy new blade and change it from the existing jaw?
so i have recently bought the klein version of this and was wondering do you need the D3 attachments or can you use the 0 and D3 sections only? also with this fit the 0 type dies with the correct head?
Do you know what size in square mm the AL/cu head will cut?
I watched your videos for some time I’m currently a groundman for IBEW1393 would you recommend me becoming a inside wireman first then a lineman or lineman then inside wireman
Merveillant
Quick question is the same tool for the plumbing jaws
Milwaukee pro tip: if your tool has one-key, create an account and sign up! Otherwise anyone in range can add your tool and deactivate it!
How do they hold up using them on hot lines?
I have a Milwaukee cordless circular saw. While I have used competitor brands, Milwaukee is superior in almost every way.
It’s a great press only complaint I have is they don’t make a nico head for it .
We have the guy cutting head and after a while I’ve noticed it to have some chips out of it and not cutting as well.
It's definitely gotta be hard on parts cutting that guy steel!
The one at your office that you are talking about is the 15 ton one.
I am budgeting for two of these but without doing the legwork yet do you know if Milwaukee is making a press for Anderson connectors? Great review. Thanks from the Oregon coast. What part of eastern Canada are you from? New Brunswick? That’s cool if you don’t want to share. Stay safe Brother
Un très bon apperiel
Does Milwaukee still make the older model?
Hey man been watching you for a while now. I am from Franklin, NC. Not a lineman just like the show. One question why is it called Bobsdecilne?
What about maintaining it and grease in it video
Do you buy your own tools or get them through the company?
Well the companies purchase them, and when the lineman drags they become his.
This little thing is more expensive than my car. lol
👊👊
Does the company you work for supply the tools or do you have to pay for them ?
Hey Man , I have a question about future job outlooks here on the East Coats of Canada . What do you think the future job forecast is for lineman and apprentices on the east coast?
Hey Chris! There's definitely been a recent shift towards a new generation of Linemen in our area. We've hired a ton of new apprentice over the last few years.
I think it's safe to say if you pursue the trade, you'll definitely find work, but not necessarily in your preferred location for the first few years. Which is to be expected with most career paths these days imo.
👊👊👊
👍👍👍
👊
🤜
Ereplacementparts.com has all the spare parts for milwaukee tools. Ive gotten a bunch of parts to fix my tools when i break them.
does the company buy the tool? if not do they need to approve?
if you had to climb which press would you use?
Definitely the linear! The older style works best when working in a vault/trench/padmount
Tasmania Australia
can the acsr head cut copper also? if so what size you you recommend
Yes, the acsr head can cut small guy steel as well. It's not really meant for it, but I you were to choose only one head it's the most universal.
I haven't tried the acsr head on larger copper, but would guess 250-300 MCM no problem. Just might not make as clean a cut as the sharper copper head
cool thanks i bought my press the bigger one i have the o die press on it love it at my company we have 336 acsr but go up to 4 ot copper on our transformers we do have cable up to 500 but i’m a troubleman so we usually don’t mess with 500 but i’m defintly get a 477 head to do mostly everything
Hey Aaron, I'm sure you get asked this a lot but how did you happen to come by the name of your channel.
Can the crimper jaw interchange to an acsr jaw?
Yessir! Only takes a few seconds to swap em out
Gah I wish I could afford that tool😂😂
I love Milwaukee products. I have a lot of them and continue to buy them. But when I got stuck with the Gen1 Milwaukee brad nailer, which was quite expensive, multiple emails to Milwaukee fell of deaf ears. They never offered any help at all. They made a big mistake releasing that too early and had a lot of trouble with it. Then they "fixed the problem" by releasing Gen2 for sale. No concern for their customers who purchased the Gen1. I feel they should have at least offered a trad in of the defective model. So, they don't always listen to customers.
Hate this happened to u. I have always had amazing service when I had to deal with anything like warranties or replacement, mind u only a few times over a decade time span. Point is though they have never let me down, I hope ur experience is not the norm now

Hello from zapotlanejo Jalisco México. I am línea Man todo,
hey, what do you think would happen if someone squirted some gallium on a power line?
they're pretty much aluminum aren't they?
are these things made overseas?
Yup. Same assembly line as Ryobi or any of the other Home Depot kiddy tools.
Now that's the cat's ass!
From lionshead ont
Those are around 5 grand or so. I sure could use one. I have a pair of hand crimpers by Ilsco, but they are a bitch to use.
I take that back. I just purchased one. They're about half that. It comes with the D3 and O dies. I also purchased the bg dies as I do a lot of grounding work.
Milwaukee is the Fisher Price of tools. Real linemen use Burndy and Cembre.
am I second?
Your first! 🙌🍻💯
Someone somewhere will still say “oh man you’re such a girly man, how about using your muscles and grabbing some bolt cutters?”
To them i just ignore lol. If working smart not harder bothers you that much, maybe you should go back to walking to work?
Get a BURNDY Crimper. So much better than Milwaukee.
$2300 vs $200 for hand crimper
Not relevant to this video, but I found a short video that shows what can happen with vehicles and electricity that you may find useful to show people: www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/jmp6wf/wtf_electrocution/
