  • Back in the summer of 2015, Milwaukee announced ONE-KEY, an inventory tracking platform for their tools. But from the very beginning, ONE-KEY was so much more. It’s made of up 3 very distinct and powerful components.
Milwaukee refers to these 3 separate components as “Customize, Track and Manage”. Today we're going to cover all 3 and tell you a few things about ONE-KEY that you never knew.
PLUS, by leaving a comment below, you'll be entered to win a Milwaukee M18 Sawzall with ONE-KEY!

      Belts And Boxes
For construction it was the manage and track ability. I also offered to put fit customer ladders and job boxes with ticks at no extra cost. For industrial use the ability to dial in the rpm and torque were great for repetitive jobs
And keep up the good work, I love the show

Hi, I have a one key drill so I know and use most of the features. I don’t customize the speed often. But I have all my Milwaukee tools in inventory. It works and I love it.
My coworker asked to borrow a battery. Then nonchalantly asked to take it home and give it to me the next day. ( I believe his plan was to keep it all along)
A few days later I asked for it and he denied borrowing it. He said it was his. I showed him my one key app and he had nothing to say and gave it back.

As a business owner I can definitely see the benefit to having one key and maybe stretching it for the casual or more than casual owners just for the tracking and inventory management but the making your own power settings seems a little pointless and time consuming. By the time you get the app loaded up and the power settings you want you could be half way done with what your doing. Especially if you're a skilled tradesman.

Initial thoughts on Milwaukee One-key before watching the video:
One-key is a tool customization, tracking, logging tools for commercial jobs, data collection and storage service.
It allows the user to customize different aspects of the performance of their tool to best suit the needs of the job at hand. Some tools supporting One-key take advantage of the platform in order to provide and store data for the user such as crimp level pressure for the force logic tools and statistics for other tools.
The system allows an individual to track the location and service history of their tool.
The system also allows a company to keep track of their tool inventory and streamlines tools that are out in service, sitting in storage, or out for repair.
As an individual who truly loves the One-key customizability, I would love to eventually dig deep into it.
    Post Wathing The Video:
I was close, but I definitely learned something. I did not know about the scan tag stickers nor did I know to what extent you could manage tool inventory.
I got the original One-key drill and and combo kit when it first came out as a gift from my parents when I was about 15.
I'm 19 now, and am currently using that same set to help my dad rebuild our deck and a wooden retaining wall. I had always wanted to get the Milwaukee One-key sawzall, but ended up getting the Ridgit Gen5x combo kit years ago which included a sawwall, so I didn't need to. That was a huge mistake. We are currently using the Ridgid sawzall, but it just doesn't have any power. It bogs down trying to cut through a 4x4 even with a Diablo wood cutting blade. Even with literal brand new batteries, the batteries die after 3 or 4 cuts since each cut can take up to 5 minutes just to go 2/3 the way through. The saw overheats and is a nightmare to use. I guess my dad finally understands why I recommend Milwaukee reguarding every tool.

You can use the 1 key to track your tools, I know you can scan the box and just load it right in which is really slick. I wish the tracking worked better so that if it was left behind somewhere or stolen, you could locate it better. But I believe more people need to have the app on their phone for that to work. Edit: i was also aware of the asset tags, but I didn't realize you could control so many features of the tools, like the soft start on the sawzall. 😄

I have multiple one key products. I have always used Milwaukee big love the one key and fuel stuff. Had a buddy on a job site try to be funny thinking he could hide my new impact years ago when I got it. Would not tel me where it was. So I just tracked it. It got me within 10 feet of where it was so I will take that as an accomplishment. I also used to work with a guy who had his drill stolen off a job sit in a city we were not from. There were a couple different trades in the house we were working on. He tracked it and as he refreshed he could tell it was moving farther away. We checked in occasionally over the next couple hours and realized he made it home with the drill. Notified the police and met them at the location and we got the drill back. Very peaceful actually. One key has formed for me already and everything I buy will be one key. Hope that helps someone make up they’re mind on spending a little more.

Definitely no comparison, i was a DeWalt owner for 10yrs but got a deal on a drill driver and 3/8 impact. First battery tool ive ever owned that the battery outlasted the tool, not saying that in a negative way but i used that 1/4” drill driver for things my dewalt 3/8 impact wouldnt do. Milwaukee has the batterys down and the power of the tools are second to none imo but my experience with one key was a train wreck maybe its better now but 🤷🏻‍♂️

The customization is a great feature. I didn't realize you could do anything other than set speeds with it.

ONE-KEY is in my future thanks to you! I am just beginning to swap over from Ryobi as required tools fall short on my jobs.

One key is my tool inventory system. The one key web site is the key. (While like would like added features the site does work for me). My tools end up at two or three sites and I use the phone app to know which site a tool is on. In each of my tool cases I will drop a Milwaukee tick in it, this is good for the Milwaukee tool but also for my other manufacturers tools too. Since each of my packout boxes has a tick in it I will list what are the main items in that box helping me find a tool.

Just bought a one key light (2120-20). It’s awesome that you can control it from the app. Wish every Milwaukee tool had one key baked in.

I am a new apprentice and that sawzall is what i need. One key is the best. All my fuel tools are keyed up. Key me up to the next level bro. Thx good video.

So the sticker tags won't tell you when the tool is put of range? It only pings when you scan it?

      @ToolShow  4 года назад

Shaun Garfinkel correct. The idea being that you can permanently label it, and track it when you scan. As a theft deterrent, we’ll, if you show up to buy something from someone on Craigslist, and you see a Milwaukee tag on it, a quick scan confirms it’s not stolen, or if it is, it’ll tell you it’s stolen and tell the owner where it was seen.

Hey Rob, one thing you forgot to mention, in all of the packout tool boxes, there is a recess for a tick to be installed.

You can only lock a tool that is stolen if it encounters a phone with blue tooth AND the One Key application installed.
This is easily disabled by removing the small Bluetooth antenna on the tool, if it has not been locked of course.

Personally I don’t think this is the best/most useful thing to have, especially when your an apprentice. As an apprentice you should be able to keep track of a main set of tools that you own and you should be able to use that tool as it is without having to mess with things like torque and rpm. This will make you overall a better worker. But from a veteran/journeyman or contract manager standpoint, I can see how this would a cool thing to have on all of your tools. Especially being able to keep track of where the tools are. Nice video, subscribed

I knew one key let you track and geo fence but the pinging other users apps to track after stolen and the ability to lock it was new to me. Great showcase, thanks!
