I love that you use mixes and instant stuff from time to time it makes me feel normal (appreciate your inputs to maximize their flavors). Pretentious cooks usually would shame ppl who do that
I made this tonight for dinner! I told my hubby that it was thanks to Laura in the kitchen, and he said to make sure I get more recipes from you! Thank you so much🥰
I love this recipe! In addition to the ham, onion, carrots, celery, I add zucchini, and plain traditional refried beans instead of potatoes or whole beans. It thickens the broth. I love the fall and these warm recipes keep me in the kitchen and filling my home with love for my family.
I substituted lima beans for the navy beans and this recipe did not disappoint!! It was a hit along with the corn casserole. I will definitely be making this again 😊
I had a craving for a ham and bean soup. I was curious if Laura had done a recipe on it. Sure enough, just 11 days ago. Idk how many times she has been right on time with something I'm in the mood for.
Corn chowder is another great soup where a ham bone tastes great. Soups, chowders, & stews are so comforting on a cold day. Add some good bread & a small green salad and it's a meal fit for a king.
Instant potatoes will thicken bean soup - I buy the small envelope of instant potatoes just to have on hand to thicken this kind of soup! I make small batches so I only use 1-2 Tbsp but the envelope would thicken Laura's big pot.
Here in Danmark, Knorr sells Pork Boullion cubes, do they have them back home in the states? They make delicious broth and I use them always for any type of bean and ham soup or hocks and beans with dumplings, also for making ham gravy. I don't remember ever seeing the pork boullion cubes back home.
I watch your channel because you have very interesting non Italian American recipes too. Bangers and Mash , Corn Bread Casserole , and Ham Bean soup! You should comment on pros and cons of SOAKING DRIED BEANS. Saves cooking time and more evenly cooks beans and may decrease amount of gas. Especially important if beans are old. There is a quick soak method too.
Laura … just a suggestion …I don’t know if that makes a difference to the taste….. but you can soak the beans/lentils prior to cooking for few hours. We Indians use beans and pulses almost every day and we always soak them overnight and it helps in cooking faster
I usually make mine with pasta instead of potatoes but I might try the potatoes this time. I have my Christmas ham bone in the freezer! Thanks Laura! ❤️
Oh my! Yes, try this. When I buy a ham every single bit of meat, fat, bone & skin is used. Cut apart the ham, cut & vac seal some for Sunday breakfast, ham & cheese omelets, sandwiches, dinners. So many uses! Melt the fat down, it freezes well too. Great for sautéd veggies or making a roux. After using the bone for soup the doggie chews on it for days. Crisp up the skin in a low & slow oven and it's good for flavoring or even a doggie chew. There isn't even an oink left when I buy a ham. 🤣
The link fir the recipedoes not work. Trying to find rcipe for chater cornbread. I am diabetic so would apprecuate somecotnbread thatthat is lowcarb. That means no corn and definitely no cornbread mix. Th a nk you.
Plus with the ham bone and left over meat, when my aunt hosts for Christmas she doesn’t keep it so she gives it away for others to cook with. In this economy you can’t let anything go to waste lol
Jane, did you know that pigs are forced into gas chambers before they are hung upside down by their back legs to have their throats slashed open while while still conscious ?
The soup looks so delicious but I make traditional cornbread that would be so much better taste wise and healthier than processed cornbread. My cornbread is also moist in the middle but crunchy on the outside. Just ask any southern cook for a great cornbread recipe. But thanks for the bean soup recipe.
I agree. I've tried the Jiffy corn bread mix and. I don't know why but it tastes like pesticide to me. I love making cornbread from scratch and it's really no more time consuming. But to each his own.
❤ Soup sounds great ❤️ Jiffy mix 🤨 is not real cornbread. Purchase some real cornmeal…use a cast iron skillet…use buttermilk…cornbread too easy to make.
Absolutely. But there are people who don't really enjoy cooking. My mother used to make a box of Jiffy cornbread, open up a can of pork N beans and thought she was cooking. She though baking bread was just a waste of time when you could grab a loaf of Wonder Bread off the grocery store shelf.

55 cents for the jiffy but that egg cost about $10 these days 😂
😂😂😂😂😂 You’re absolutely right!
😂😂😂 so true!
Well, not quite $10 but I know they’re high
Not for ger though. She has chickens 😂

I love this recipe!

I love the fall and these warm recipes keep me in the kitchen and filling my home with love for my family.
Also, the key to good soup is salt. So many people under salt their soups and they are kind of blah.
I too like pepper. Ok, there’s my two cents. Lol
I substituted lima beans for the navy beans and this recipe did not disappoint!! It was a hit along with the corn casserole. I will definitely be making this again 😊
Yep.
Comfort food is the best food!
I also love the whole soups and bread situation.
🍲🍞
In the South, where I live we call your cornbread corn casserole! Whatever you call it, it is delicious!
I was just about to say the same thing. 😄. I have to make it every Christmas for my nephew.

watching such a gorgeous lady as Lauren cook this makes this much more enjoyable.
Looks delish but I'm adding a lil garlic, I must! Glad to see celery & carrots added! Def gonna try to 😋
I made this today. Absolutely delicious.
I love hearing her talk. She talks New Jersey. Reminds me of growing up there.
Worst accent on the planet.
So eerie! I was just debating whether to make my Mom's pea soup or another soup with the ham bone I froze New Year's! Now I know! Thank you!

I so wished where I live (Australia) it was winter. I just can’t do this now but I can’t wait !!
Love your videos. So pleased to see that we use the same corn bread recipe. It’s the best!
Instant potatoes will thicken bean soup - I buy the small envelope of instant potatoes just to have on hand to thicken this kind of soup! I make small batches so I only use 1-2 Tbsp but the envelope would thicken Laura's big pot.
Good morning dear friend nice to meet your channel thank you for sharing video the best ham and bean soup looks very delicious good job 👍

We don't have them here or else they are very hard to find. I just use chicken stock or veggie.
I can’t wait to try cornbread recipe. Soup also looks yummy. Rainy day in So Cal ☔️☔️
A lot of beans with the ham bone is the way to GOOOOO! So, SO good! Low and slow- fast and easy meal!

Speaking of lentils.....YES those go into the pot as well. Along with some corn and enough chopped kale, chard, or parsley to give it a bit of green.
YUM! Happy and healthy New Year Laura! ❤️
Excellent recipe! So “delizzy” 😆 😊 😋
Very tasty!
I really love your corn bread!
Great video Laura😊😊
What kind of knife is that??? Love the colors.
This looks awesome. Definitely making tonight!
Yum, where do you buy the Jiffy Cornbread mix? Thx
@@el6271 I live in Toronto, so not sure it is available here.
I'm making this tonight!!
I usually make mine with pasta instead of potatoes but I might try the potatoes this time. I have my Christmas ham bone in the freezer! Thanks Laura! ❤️
I'm only here for the part where she says "I'm Laura VITTA-LIIIIIIII". In Australia we don't hear that ❤️😂
I would love to modify this for my Instant Pot! Any suggestions how to make that happen?
Looks absolutely inviting!!!💞
That cornbread recipe is very similar to the corn pudding recipe I make for any holiday....instead of milk, I use sour cream.
I love a good ham and bean soup. This looks to for.
Omg great way to use the leftover ham, we always throw it away!!! I might try to do this. It looks so delicious

That looks amazing!
What stove brand is behind Laura? The black one with gold
Ilve_usa :)
FIY 350 degrees Fahrenheit is equal to 176 degrees Celsius.
Slightly modified by using cabbage instead of potatoes and made in the instant pot. Broth was wonderful!
Looks delicious!!!
Looks delicious!! ❤😊
She should put the recipe in the description box. Searching her recipes is frustrating 😢
Black eyed peas with ham hocks was it for us on nye 😂 with greens, hot water cornbread and fish #country
I'm in So Cal but a friend from the South introduced me to that tradition for New Year's Day.
Love comfort foods ❤️
Do you season your ham
I like all kinds of soup
AMAZING!!!!!🥰
Would MSG be good in this?
There's plenty of msg in cured ham
Why butter? Well because Everything is better with Butter!! Thanks for asking, loved the video thanks again..
Do you season your
Oh Yummo!!
I always have such a hard time to find the recipe 🤔 anyone else??
Not posted yet. I don't know why it takes her long to post recipes.
Fabulous ❤
Im in Australia 🇦🇺 I cant get jiffy corn bread here hellllpppp

The link fir the recipedoes not work. Trying to find rcipe for chater cornbread. I am diabetic so would apprecuate somecotnbread thatthat is lowcarb. That means no corn and definitely no cornbread mix. Th a nk you.
Use the ham bone to make potato soup.
Yum!!!
That’s technically a corn pudding. 🌽❤️👍
This would be so good with some cabbage in it
Can you please do a heavy cream of mushroom soup 🙏🏼
Can you do chickpeas?
I can’t find the recipe???
It's nott posted yet.
I think 2 boxes of corn bread mix might work better - lots of corn kernels with just one
Cannot find the recipe.
❤❤❤
i have a ham in the crock pot what are the odds
Localvet, did you know pigs are forced into gas chambers before they are strung up alive by their back legs to have their throats slashed open ?
How many times did she say “so delicious” I’m going to hear that in my sleep lmao
Can you use hamhock?
I am sure you can. I do
Yes! 2-3 is usually sufficient. Nice, smoky flavor too.
I wonder if this would work with chicken thighs?
She said you could use chicken!
@@ginagray603 thank you! I must’ve missed that part
I live in SE Texas...We use pinto beans!
I do the 2 corn's in mine. You forgot the jalapenos.

Maybe switch stores I only pay .20 cent each egg
What kind of tea towels do you have? 😂
Ham and bean soup must be poured over Manischewitz Egg Flakes.
Smoked turkey necks.
I love you!
Yum! It's corny bread :)

Delizzy!
Can you crockpot-ize this soup? 🤷♂️ I don’t have the time to stand over a pot all day.
I was cringing until you pick that lonely bean up off your table and threw it into the pot
That’s corn casserole, not bread
First ❤
👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
Hard pass. Everything doesnt need to taste Italian.
That soup looks good; but that's NOT real cornbread.
She admitted that! My dad would only eat REAL cornbread, this was cake to him.
There are no rules..... whatever make you happy. I'm not a fan of boxed cornbread mix, so I don't use Jiffy.
Oh yes there are rules. Cornbread is ONLY made in a cast iron skillet, and NEVER with boxed cornbread mix.@@ginawiggles918
