Im on disability i save 400 a mth im on a budget i only get 1,090 a mth going to start not getting oatmeal and a drink at mcdonalds almost everyday so now i buy my oatmeal now at walmart and make it my self ive been saving and now have got like 3800 saved im saving for my second house bought my first at 26 im 50 now

My situation is quite similar to yours, also on disability and about the same quantity but in euros. The doctors Tribune will review my case to the end of this year. I'm quite afraid because I've been told after this, I won't be get another job related to my degree in case they decide to stop paying for the disability. I got to save some money but since I fell sick again in Christmas, had to use it to have a person a few days per week to help me. Wasn't even able to walk my dogs. I'm sort of terrified with future. And dying to be able to leave this place I live, my exile place I call it. Would like to be more like you! Indeed an inspiration!
On the cat litter, just a suggestion, horse bedding pellets from tractor supply, $7.00 for a 40# bag...no urine smell, no poop smell if the kitty buried the poop. This is what works for me and my kitty's!😊

Hello, your videos have helped me save no matter how late in life, I am in my 70s,frugality is, word I never heard from anyone before even my parents or habits about frugality, I used to eat almost daily outside for convenience, bought house decors, etc, no savings, anyway, with your videos, maybe I can catch up with saving, thanks

Kate, instead of getting 1K into an account, I'm going to cut my spending by 1K/month. In other words, I've been living beyond my means and I've decided to trim all the fat. This is from overspending on groceries, supplements, farmer's market items, things for my daughter, etc. I cannot earn more right now as I'm a teacher and working a TON, and I cannot save more right now as I'm actually already saving 25% for retirement, and about 20% in other accounts, BUT for sure I can trim a lot of unnecessary expenses. I also am not going to pay for RUclips anymore. I loved the ad free version but that's 12/month saved right there. Thank you again.

I've saved $116 so far by: saving $28 I was going to spend on clothes, $50 I was going to spend going thrifting, $18 left from my groceries for the fortnight, $20 that I leave in my transaction account each fortnight "just in case". I'm pleased to be off to a good start.
New fortnight starts tomorrow and I'm going to shave $40 off groceries and $10 off my "pocket money". More ideas to come!

baking soda white vinegar teaspoons of dawn or other dish soap amazing cleaner-
add 20 drops of essential
oil to a spray bottle with 50/50 water vinegar and a teaspoon dish soap amazing all purpose cleaner

I am planning to be more consistent on my handmade jewelry business besides my regular full time job. 👍
I am focused on my electric bill, and groceries. I rarely use my dryer which saves a lot. I live in AZ so a/c is a must for the hot months. I'm hoping to save during the cooler months to pay for the hot months for the next year. I tried looking for you on Tik Tok but it said your name couldn't be found. I typed in what you have above. . My last house was old. and you are right, no matter how much you scrub it still looks old. We replaced much of the home, ( over $15K worth of updates) but it still showed its age. My new home is so much easier to care for because everything bit of it is new. tfs 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
I have 3 cats. Last year we switched from the cat litter to wood pellets (Walmart has some, but Canadian Tire has even cheaper), saved a lot of money. Unfortunaly, recently one of my cats got a urinary christals and blockage. The vet admition and the treatments cost us more than 2000$ (Canada). Since than all my cats are on wet food only. It's more expensive, bit I don't want to pay for another cat hospitalization. So hopefully, I am saving in a long run. May be that will be helpful to some cat owners.

My bare bones budget: cat supplies were running $63+. I save by canning fish (local caught 🎣 & store clearance) during my own canning sessions. I make their toys.

Haha....my husband HATES when I say our food budget is too much (we include pets and toiletries, diapers etc) he always is like "we have to eat" ....I'm so glad we are finally debt free so I don't worry as much

I buy the arm and hammer powdered detergent in the 18# laundry powder, super inexpensive and works well.

Aldi and Lidl in the UK do lovely laundry detergent that isn’t expensive.
So excited just had points fall of car insurance so now saving a wopping 100 bucks a month ( total bad driver lol... well speeder) so taking it easy ans driving safe to keep that cash in my pocket

You were showing ways to save instead of getting a massage. Totally spot on good idea!!
I know this is an old comment, but to get to the 1000 I had automatic savings, and once I hit that goal I lowered the amount that goes into it to a "trickle" amount of $15. By the time we (unfortunately) had to use it, I had $1200 to use and had to use it all. I did the same thing for our christmas fund, trickled it down to $5 per paycheck once I reached the goal.
I’ve noticed that working on growing our emergency fund had points that were hard to get over certain numbers. For some reason, getting more than a thousand was hard.
Ha, 2024 speaking here! Little did we know how much we needed your advice with SOARING, STICKER-SHOCK INFLATION looming in the early 2020's with little done to reverse it. Lots blamed on Covid complications s of shipment deliveries and economic ripple effects!!!

Just orderd our groceries online but befor ordering the original list I very mindfully looked at it again and desided to take of about €20 out before actually ordered. I promiced $10 a week😅 so i am a good girl. Desided to buy cheaper kinds of meat, veggies on sale. No extra money making possible and do not have anything to sell at the moment because i am a minemalist allready🙃.

#aiming for 1,000 to put into the emergency fund. had to use it because my dog got sick and she had to be put down so i had to use 380 for that expense. so time to rebuild the emergency fund. i will be starting this coming friday. i paid off my one student loan, i will be adding that money to the 25 i already have been saving every week, i batch cooked today so no eating out lunches, and i am taking a $50 per week decrease at the grocery store since pantry is full and we dont need any groceries items right now. that will give us the $100 per week to add to the emergency fund.

I have that option lol... im nurse they will literally work you to death no lie lol. But was a blessing while we paid off debt and save our 6 month emergency fund. Just worked extra 2 weekends ago and now working this weekend too on call and extra visits in home health. Paid per visit so you can pick up as much as you want. Luv my job and true blessing

I’m late to the game , but I’m doing the $1000 challenge. Also I love my coin and can challenge we mainly get about $80 Australian a month between coins and cans that we save . We are going to use it for our holiday spending money . X and we have 3 cats 🐈 which I love but they cost more than us 🤣
I spend almost no money on cleaning supplies. Buy your cleaning supplies at Dollar Tree. They have the best cleaner. It is called Awesome, they also have a refill. I only buy the refill and put it in my own spray bottle. They also have a dry crystal cleaner (with oxygen) it also is called Awesome. This is what I use to pre soak my laundry. You will save lots of money and these supplies are very very good.

Since time is money, block scheduling is key. Homestead (restarting small market farm side gig), full time job & house renovation each have their block.
I’m going to sell all the very nice clothes I never wear. I’m going to do my grocery shopping exclusively at Aldi and Wal-Mart rather than going to my very convenient grocery store. I’m also not buying any new clothing except for new snow boots which I definitely need for winter. Also, no more $20-$40 Dollar Tree runs, lol!

Can someone explain the bottle return that Kate talks about, you get money back on returns? Here in the UK we recycle bottles both plastic and glass but we don't receive any cash in return 😊
As an incentive to recycle we pay a bottle fee when we check out at the store and to get it back you take the bottles and cans when empty and clean back to the store to get your money back. 😀
