I changed at 63.I didn’t really see how unorganized I was. One year later feeling much better, more confident, definitely more organized!
There is a cloth liner to wash no plastic! Amazon! Indiana
This is so encouraging to me…. I’ve wondered about starting at my age (60). Thanks a bunch❤
LOVE THIS ANNA!
I'm going to be 63 May 24 year
Wish I'd heard you when I was younger. Now 85 and practicing c frugality for the first time. Thank you.
You have an indomitable, Yankee spirit! So wise , Your energy is contagious. Thank you for being a great communicator- you appeal across the generations.
Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Love your videos and repetition is the way I learn.
YASSS!!!!!! Thanks Amy!
I don’t track every DOLLAR. I give myself a cash allowance each week, $15. I’m allowed to spend this anyway I want.
I had my shower liner for about 5 years, I scrub it every 3 months on my tiled living room floor. It saves money, doesn't end up in the landfill and it's also a good workout!
Sorry for the bad english. Warm greetings from Germany.
I've been trying to save since August 2022. I learned a lot from your motivating videos. Now I have a budget plan and have already been able to save 700 euros in my Emergency-Fund and pay off a small loan. I'm on my way, thanks to you!!! Thanks! 1000 hugs ❤
@Nina Becker, your English is perfect 🙂
Your English is excellent
WAY TO GO NINA!!!
I would love to see a video related to being frugal with kids. When I’m running errands with my daughter and being the no mom when trying to stay on budget is so hard. I’m sure this is a relatable subject. Love your videos you are helping me so much!!
I understand! My kids are in college now but I wish I had shopped at thrift stores and Goodwill more when they were younger. It's easier to say yes to clothes, games and toys when they are at thrift store prices.
@@susanf4857 that’s a great tip!!
Yes, TOTALLY relatable subject! Thank you Nicole!
Secret is simple. Do not take kids with you. Nothing else works
I use my towels more than once. And I bought a washable fabric waterproof shower curtain liner! Got tired of throwing away the plastic ones!
I need constant reminding...keep telling us/encouraging us!
You got it Nana!!! So glad you are here:)
I would love a Tuesday video too. Maybe it could be "Quick Tips Tuesday" and you could give your top tips for staying on track, setting goals, budgeting, earning extra money, etc.
Love this!
Check my statements everyday n throughout my day...I check my cc to make sure that everything has checked in throughout the day. And when things go thru I make sure that I'm up to puff...So that everything gets paid right on time. That is how I do it....
I’m a reader; I read every day. I haven’t had or used a credit card in more than a decade.
This is awesome!
Dear Kate
Thank you for some great videos. I watch your videos as often as I can. I just want to say I think you are an amazing person and I have learned so much about personal economy by following great people like you. When I was a child I never talked money with my family and when I was in my teens I almost crashed my economy by taking on a lot of bad loans.(about 80,000 US dollars in danish crowns) and at long last I had it all payed off in May 2022 just some months before I turned 42. Finally, I just want to say that because I have been down the way of debt and I know what a hell it is I am not going back. I learned my lesson the hard way, which is why I am a big fan of people like you who are helping folks advoiding debt.
Best regards
Lars Wraae, Denmark
Thank you so much Lars!!!
Prepper Princess and Kate. That would be a great collab.
You are a very down to earth person. As newby...its good to hear a supportive frugal practice week on week as we all try to find a better way of handling money
Thanks so much and WELCOME!!!
I spray the bottom of the liner with a bleach cleaner to get any mold or discoloration out. I also throw it in the wash machine after as well rinsed with the shower curtain.
Prepper Princess is awesome! I’ve been following her for quite a while. She provides great info and ideas!
Lovely encouragement to Karen.
You make me think of Romper Room… back in the day you are too young to remember, Mary Anne said hello to everyone… calling names. Sometimes parents sent letter with names and she said your kids name. That was magical!
I use credit card for everything to get the points. We have traveled all over world and have never paid for flights. I payoff in full every month. I want to use the banks money first then use mine to pay off. No longer use a ATM due to fraud issues. Love your channel ❤
Absolutely do a a monthly budget! I get paid bi-weekly and therefore payday arrives at different times each month. I budget Each check to make sure everything is covered and paid on time. I too, check All of my accounts every single day.
Every month Is different. I have a sewer bill that is only every 3 months. I also now pay my property taxes on my own vs having them held in escrow. I'm grateful to be able to have that monthly amount sent to my high yield savings account si I get the interest vs the mortgage company.
Glad to hear Prepper Princess and Hope and Larry were here supporting you! 😊 They are all awesome!
I'm watching this video while waiting on Chinese delivery just because I didn't feel like cooking. I've learned nothing 🤦♀️🤣🤣🤣
LOL!!!!!!! Grace you rock!
So happy to hear you will be posting twice a week! I think something different from Frugal Friday. I’d like to see content on lifestyle and things we can do to support us on the path like fun on a budget, meal planning, organizing, staying motivated. I loved the interview with Joshua Becker. Maybe some interviews would be fun. Thanks for all you do and making frugal fun!
I get so much out of your channel. Practical and real. Thank you, Kate!❤
Thank you so much Janice!!!
I machine wash liner with vinegar until the holes at the top break then replace. Saves $3 @ least.
Tape holes prior to washing 😊
Don't tape, staple
Thanks!
Thank you so so much Bre❤️🙏
I love your cat sitting behind you! Moved now ! I watch people! I like many times! Gets me moving Aussie Lady
At 69 I was tossed into learning real fast about watching my budget in detail. I’ve always been frugal, but getting a divorce at this age through me for a loop. I don’t do late fees, over draft fees or interest! Not in my vocabulary.
I love starting my Monday with a replay live!! 💚 I would love a Spring reset video.
Watching a replay x
Sorry I missed you all, it's mother's day here in the UK 🇬🇧 so with family x
Hello hello!! Girl my husband always says “you are repeating yourself again “ and I say well I NEED the repetitive as a reminder for myself! Lol
Informative Kate thanks 😊
You are very welcome!
So good and love getting two doses of Kate in a week!! Thank you!!!! PLEASE make two videos/week. Love the frugal Friday videos - keep 'em coming!
Love you for that reference to Sorry Ms. Jackson by Outkast.
"ooohh! I am for reaaaaal":) Love me some Outkast:)
Tuesday and Friday would work for me! Pajama drama was fun, too. I like your book suggestions and budget class is helpful. BUT, I always tune into Friday. It is perfect way to end the week. TGIF and start the weekend😊
Thank you for this feedback. Appreciate you so much!
Hi! Kate. I’m sorry that I missed the Live. We we were returning from a weekend trip away. BUT it’s Monday morning and I’m watching, so I don’t miss any valuable Kate Content!!❤❤
Really enjoying your videos Kate! This is the year I get my money shit together with your help!!❤
YASS KATE! Let's DO THIS!!!
After being debt free for a number of years, we had to take out a mortgage to buy RRSP’s (Canada’s registered retirement plan). We sold land to buy a new acreage, and to offset the capital gains we can buy the same amount in RRSP’s. I’d rather keep the money, than let the government have the money.
One way we are saving money is cutting down on takeout meals/going out to eat. We used to order out 2-3 times a week, now it’s once a week. Just this evening my husband wanted cinnamon buns. We have a place in town that sells huge cinnamon buns, but they are around $4.00 each. So, at 7:00 I am baking cinnamon buns. I can do the whole batch for less that $4.00, and get a whole lot more.
Yes…SPRING🌷
Definitely two videos!
I enjoyed this live today😊 Thank you Kate.
Tuesday and Friday sounds good.
Rewatched this on the MORNING commute to Federal jury duty. Always keeping me motivated, Kate, no matter what schedule I keep! 🤗
Jury Duty!!!! How did it go!?
@@KateKaden Still going. VERY intense!
Listening again Kate. February 10, 2024.
YASSS!
Hi Kate Love 💘 💕 💗 ❤ 💖 💓
Love to read.. have to make that time along with some other things
Rewatching taking notes. Listened to live with volume up high, so my BF could hear it. We live separately (I work, he's older & disabled). We help each other with what we can. We're both learning from this video content.
Just catching the live stream from yesterday, Kate! Yesterday, I was busy with my dad’s 63rd birthday! Hope you are having fun, Kate :-)
Happy birthday to your Dad!
@@KateKaden thank you, Kate :-)
I forgot I could watch again the discussion on atomic habits book .Thank you for the reminder :) I m trying to implement a new habit and I m struggling😅 so that video will provide me with some good support. Sorry I missed the live 🤫Have a great day everybody!
I add up all of my fixed expenses and add up for the month since they are due different times of the month I estimate electric and gas so I know what is left since I get paid monthly I estimate what I can spend by the weeks left in the month
Thoughts from the live: 1) I see the wisdom in married couples have a joint account instead of splitting the bills like roommates, 2) If you add another video each week, I would love things like fun on a budget, minimalism, decluttering, entertaining on a budget, and times when you have saved toward something and the end result.
Thank you Abra!
Living below your means and know where the money goes
You can get really cheap shower liners at Dollar Tree. I don’t wash them - just rinse off and then it get a new one when it is time. Sometimes time is also money 💰
Two videos a week would be amazing!
I just saw this watching now!!!🎉❤
I really enjoy all your videos-can’t wait til you get to 50k! Would love to see any books related to finance or budgeting that helped you.
Thank you so much Trish!!!
I’m the same digital absolutely and I use visual budget app as I love the colors and pictures lol have been using for over 8 years
Sorry I missed this earlier, it's been such a busy day. I'm glad to be able to catch up with you now, though. What is the other cat called now? I see Kiki but I don't know the new name of the other one - I still remember them as Spooky and Ghost!
I'm a reader - I keep going back to "Atomic Habits" (and the other three books you mentioned) because I took notes from them. That means I can get the most important learnings from each book summarised for me to refresh my memory.
Often I just don't have time for such lengthy videos but I am glad I was able to catch this one. Look at who else is following you, too! Prepper Princess and Under the Median! Wow, you're doing well, Kate, and it gladdens my heart to see it. Anyone who can have such an upbeat attitude to being frugal is going to keep gaining subscribers, I'm sure.
Take good care of you and him and them! Warm greetings from the UK.
I wash the shower curtain liner occasionally. I also wash the curtain.
Wednesday morning
Kate. Did you see the Dave Ramsey program that posted about reaping the rewards of credit cards on other peoples expense? Trying to make us feel guilty about getting rewards since we can pay off our monthly CC bill and others can’t. The ones that can’t pay off monthly are the ones that are paying for our free flights or bonus money. I thought that was ridiculous. What are your thoughts? Love your videos as always. For some reason I didn’t get the live notification but got the replay!
Hi Lisa! So happy to see you! No, I didn't see that? I personally like to use mine to get the rewards for Christmas presents as like a bonus since I'd be spending that money anyway. If I couldn't use the credit card responsibly, and I was spending more because I was swiping, that's a different story. I try SO HARD not to money shame people for their choices. You know me...I'll say DO YOU BOO:) :) Hoping people find what works for them so they can make progress and stop digging holes they struggle to get out of.
@@KateKaden I absolutely agree 💯! That segment that the Dave Ramsey show did and said upset me a tad!
Dave Ramsey himself was in Credit Card Crazy at 28. He was bankrupt! This is where his personal philosophy comes from...
@florence4845 I've heard some things Ramsey said that are disturbing. He's reminding me of Dr. PHIL who started to believe his good press.
I think for a second video day maybe resource management could be a different angle. Like how to manage what you’ve got during a recession or any down turn in personal finance’s.
Every Friday I tried my best to save 250 there some times I can't 😂 but u still make it up when I work ot
LOVE THIS!
What were the apps you mentioned)? One was about receipts and I thought I heard the word Rabbit. Thanks very much.
Hi Maureen! I use Fetch and Receipt Hog the most! :)

Pajama drama or Wednesday wins were fun!
Find and you
Ugg...I had visions of sugar plums dancing and some (yes not 1 but 3 definite ) wanted expenditures at the end of the month. Thank goodness we waited until the end of the month although the budget showed we had plenty for our desires but life came along this week; the budget showed enough money for what we wanted, buffers of what we wanted in the accounts, and what I call small-ish spending buffers. A spending buffer is enough left over for descrestionary actual spending should one need or want; yes, a buffer to the buffer. We're back to a tighter budget again; and just maybe we'll squeeze the 3 definites out yet.
I'd love another video on cooking mon be great
Karen's question was more about people pleasing, which is why most people are broke. They spend all their time doing for others in hopes they'll be accepted, point blank. It's a lot easier to budget when you do not have these bad habits stemming from conditioning. I'm so thankful to know that boundaries are healthy and allow you to support yourself $$$$ !
Needing to be better with money, needing to save money!
Hi
Hi Shelby!
Hi Kate do u put your savings and sinking funds together
I do! For me, I have a budget buffer in my checking (a month at least of expenses that sits there at all times as a catch all).
I also have my emergency fund that i don't touch (3-6 months expenses) and my savings is basically like one sinking fund for what I need coming up.
"Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do." *John R. Wooden
Weird question... how do you keep t out cats from tearing up your furniture? My cats use my couch as a scratching post.
HONESTLY my couches downstairs are SHREDDED!!!! My kittens use their post but my older cats always used the furniture!
Reader!
Kate you can use a magic eraser to clean your shower liner
It’s not that hard and fast
Thank you Amy!!!
We use a credit card and pay it off each month. We NEVER buy anything we can't immediately pay off on our credit card. Our mortgage and cars are the exceptions to paying off.
Iam a reader
Just take a shower curtain liner off and throw it in the washing machine. Do not put it in the dryer just hang it back up
I reduced the number of sinking funds. Money was being spread too thinly and no goals were being achieved.
Nice Donna! Glad you realized you wanted a strategy change for more progress. WAY TO GO!
🥰🥰
Reader.
Why use a credit card if you have the cash in the bank?
Using a credit card for large purchases is a good idea as it provides protection. The CC provider will take over a dispute and refund your money right away.
This is more difficult with a debit card.
Because it gives you more time to keep your own money until the bill comes in to be paid. I use credit cards for points and cash back. I pay off balance each month.
GIC. Guarantee income Supplement
Canadian savings
Not to correct but if any Canadians want to look it up, it's GIS and you can google the gis calculator to see if you are entitled to the gis.
GIC, is a saving tool, also good to have especially within a tfsa if you aren't into investing in the stock market.
I’m so sorry I missed the live today but I’m watching here in England and looking forward to all the knowledge I’m about to get 🤍🤍🤍
Thanks so much!
You make me think of Romper Room… back in the day you are too young to remember, Mary Anne said hello to everyone… calling names. Sometimes parents sent letter with names and she said your kids name. That was magical!
