LED bulbs actually have much higher resistance, and therefore the current is very low. That is why the LCS detects an open circuit when a conventional bulb is replaced with an LED. But I'm just nitpicking, great video and very informative!
Yea, it still is though because I have to physically fix a wiring issue. It will reset the codes and you can code the car for things that can be done at the dealership which will cost over $100 or so. Resetting the car by just having it reset the adaptations (the way you drive the car) so it can re-learn if you drive aggressive, slow, etc.
Fault is with the catalytic converter, it’s reading too high and the o2 sensors tell you there’s a problem, change the cat and the errors will go the problem is the cat!
I have a 1998 BMW Z3. There is a 20 pin connector under the hood to read dealer service dept codes. My guess is PA Soft / BMW Scanner 1.4 can not read the dealer codes. ????????????? Is that correct?
Quick question. If I swap out my ZKE/GM5 do i just need to re-code/re-sync my key FOB/remote to get it to work?? I heard that I had to "reprogram," or "re-code" the GM5 to my vehicles VIN. However I have plugged in the new GM5 and I don't see any problems or non functions except for the key FEB remote. Everything else works perfect. I can lock and unlock all doors, roll up and down all windows with my key FOB remote from turning and holding the drivers door lock. What else is there to do?
can you change the odometer numbers. i put a used cluster on my car, because my old one burned, and was wondering if i can change the numbers to the correct ones.
Thanks, managed to get the error light off my dash for rear lights after changing (and coding milage into) the LCM Quick query, I unticked cold check, hot check and BC message. Was that right or wrong? You only appear to ubtick cold check?

good vid and explains really good how the software operetes I have this unit 1.4.0but am finding it a bit hard to install ...something to do with drivers one question...my 04 325 E46 is a bit thirsty so can this program reset your fuel economy back to factory of maybe there is a code fault
where did you get the scanner i got same one off ebay and it read only DME i did solder pins 1-2 did not help and i also solder pins 7-8 and that also did not help
My clock changer knob is broken on my instrument cluster and it shows no time at all neither on the radio or the cluster. could i change it with this???

Hi, I got this scanner a bout a week ago, and its awesome, but I'm trying to stop my heater from coming on every time I start the car, is the PA soft capable of performing such a task? I've already coded a few things but the heater is really bugging me.
+e30BMW4ever Usually it's not a coding issue from what I know. Do you turn off the heater before turning off the car? If you don't then the car will store that it was on and will turn it on next time you turn the key to position 2

The temperature value at which was set stays stored every time, but regardless, every time I turn the key to position 2 it comes back on. My car is a 2000 E46 325ci. I wonder if changing the old style 10 button climate control unit would help. BTW, I've seen a lot of your threads on e46fanatic and your E46 is just awesome!

What year model is your E46? I have a 2005 325ci and the light coding doesn't work. Menus pop up, I can write new codes, but no change to the lights! The canbus error message delete works though, but no light coding. Any ideas? Everything else in the software works.

Hello, I have this software for my e38 740. I have used it successfully on the 20 pin connector under the hood to check fault codes and reset DTC for various issues. I can't seem to use it though on the 16 pin OBD II connector inside the car. I get an error message that it can't connect to IKE. Any reasons why?

hi. I have a 2004 bmw 320i. I just purchased an uncut key with the security chip in it however from what i was told even if i have a locksmith cut me a key the car will not start as the key is not programmed to the car(anti-theft) My keyfob that came with the car is in bad shape and i tried replacing the battery and had no luck. BMW wants way to much for a new keyfob so i purchased one online. The retailer told me the only thing i had to do was get it cut and then have BMW ensure the anti theft chip is coded to the car. Issue is ..that BMW want to make money and want to sell you a key for 300$...Would this programmer allow me to program the car to my new key? I know how to program the key to unlock lock doors etc..but i am referring to the anti theft portion of the key that has a chip that only works with the car it is paired to. So will this BMW scanner allow me to pair the key and avoid going to BMW ? Hope i explained it properly so you can understand my issue at hand. Thanks

Is it possible to disable the Brake Pad Wear Sensor on the instrument cluster? I have tried every possible way known to reset the light and it won't go away.
Hey Mike, did you replace the sensor? If the light came on due to low brake pad material then it must be replaced. After it is replaced you have to put the key in position 2 (right before turning the car on) and leave it like that for a minute. Then the light will be off when you take the key out and turn on the car
I replaced the sensors and left the key on in the #2 position for over a minute and the lights did not go out. I then took a piece of wire and jumped both sensors, put the key in the #2 position for over a minute and the lights still remained.
Hey, I have an e53 and trying to deactivate the error message on my dash that say “self level suspension inactive” can I do this through the PA soft? Keep in mind the factory self level has been replaced with a separate air suspension kits with a compressor. Any help would be appreciated!

I made the mistake on ews / manufacturer settings. To change the dme/dde version from version 2 to version 3. Now I am unable to start the car, tried endlessly to resolve with no solution and when trying to go back to selecting version 2 it simply will not save. Any ideas from anyone what to do here

I got load of things not working on my BMW 318Ci Se 2001 model UK spec. Alarm chirps and makes a high pitch noise constantly until I pull 1 of the 5 amp alarm fuses. The car starts with the fuse in place and alarm sounding and it still is making a high pitch noise whilst the engine is running. The Key fobs don't work and non of the functions on the Fobs work, (Even fitted a new battery Panasonic VL2020 in 1 of them) No central locking, on the Fobs, on the Key, or inside the car on the button by gear shift. No windscreen wipers or washers. No electric windows on any of them on the car which has 4. No interior lights or no glove box lights. Left hand indicator flashes to fast until I operate the Hazard warning lights then when I switch the hazards off it works normally..The right side is fine. (All bulbs ok) The rest of the electrics seem ok, lights, dash lights, radio, cruise control and ASC and mirrors all work fine. So the question is really I am sure that my GM5 Module is in a serious way. Will this cable and scanner sort out my problems? There is so many scanners out there I have looked in to inpa NCSexpert and NSC Dummy but this looks a lot user friendly.. Any advice for me would be greatly appreciated, can you tell me what I need and where to get it from please should this be a resolution. I have to sort this asap..
Hey Daniel, no option for that that I know of. Is your fan not working properly? I would replace the sensor in the lower radiator hose and the big 50 amp fuse first.
my fan stopped working 3 weeks ago,my radiator blew as well because of the water getting too hot and me not being able to stop the car ar the right time,so i got a new fan but since my gasket had to be replaced too i dont have any way of testing the fan except with inpa,wanted to buy bmw scanner because its more user friendly,but since i can test the fan to see if it works only with inpa,had to for that

for IKE / EWS issue: you have to solder pin 7 and pin 8 inside the scanner. It worked on my '99 323Ci.

PA soft is good when it's working! Most times you need to use it you have to jump through hoops to get it to work. It always loses the drivers.
I've noticed the same thing. So what do you do, reinstall the software or just the drivers?

yes it can, change the milleage on the lcm then change the lcm vin to match with your new odo vin

The options under mirror memory and locking conditions are grayed out for me. Do you know what causes that?

No problem man, if you need help LMK. The coding for alarm/windows up are under Central Body and turning off DRL's are under the LCM.

Could be as simple as faulty fuse

yup, just enable the visual marks for the alarm and that's it. Click on audible if you have the pieces installed

I got load of things not working on my BMW 318Ci Se 2001 model UK spec.
Alarm chirps and makes a high pitch noise constantly until I pull 1 of the 5 amp alarm fuses.
The car starts with the fuse in place and alarm sounding and it still is making a high pitch noise whilst the engine is running.
The Key fobs don't work and non of the functions on the Fobs work, (Even fitted a new battery Panasonic VL2020 in 1 of them)
No central locking, on the Fobs, on the Key, or inside the car on the button by gear shift.
No windscreen wipers or washers.
No electric windows on any of them on the car which has 4.
No interior lights or no glove box lights.
Left hand indicator flashes to fast until I operate the Hazard warning lights then when I switch the hazards off it works normally..The right side is fine. (All bulbs ok)
The rest of the electrics seem ok, lights, dash lights, radio, cruise control and ASC and mirrors all work fine.
So the question is really I am sure that my GM5 Module is in a serious way.
Will this cable and scanner sort out my problems?
There is so many scanners out there I have looked in to inpa NCSexpert and NSC Dummy but this looks a lot user friendly..
Any advice for me would be greatly appreciated, can you tell me what I need and where to get it from please should this be a resolution.

Hey Daniel, no option for that that I know of. Is your fan not working properly? I would replace the sensor in the lower radiator hose and the big 50 amp fuse first.
my fan stopped working 3 weeks ago,my radiator blew as well because of the water getting too hot and me not being able to stop the car ar the right time,so i got a new fan but since my gasket had to be replaced too i dont have any way of testing the fan except with inpa,wanted to buy bmw scanner because its more user friendly,but since i can test the fan to see if it works only with inpa,had to for that

Does anybody know where to download the drivers for the scanner for Windows 8.1 64bit? The enclosed mini-disk enclosed is only for XP and Win 7.

For E39's? I would not know since I've only coded on E46's

@@KnowledgeLifestream No. E46's never had angel eyes (never made from factory for those 3 series models) so there is no such coding.
