What an amazing adventure. Congratulations on a truly magnificent bull moose. He is a trophy of a lifetime that will remind of you of that remarkable hunt and inspire many to hope to have the same adventure. Thank you for putting the time into filming and editing - in order to share that wild place of the world. God bless.
Thanks Bryce - an experience I'll never forget. It's my hope too, that it'll push someone who's thinking about a trip like this, to actually go after it. Appreciate your comments.
I am late finding this video but I must say it's an excellent video glad I found it congratulations on that bull I hope to do that someday thank you for sharing and thank you for not playing any music
That was the best recorded moose hunt I have ever seen! Beautiful job on the filming! What beautiful country! Those guides were fantastic, you were really blessed to have them. Good job on being willing to do anything to get to where you needed to be. Blisters and all. Thank you so much for this adventure, I really feel like I was there with you guys. You definitely will never forget this experience. God bless
Tongue is one of the most tender roasts you can get off of a large animal like moose. I’ve hunted bison several times and my kids always wanted me to bring back the tongue. Once you get past the idea that it’s a tongue and just realize it’s another little roast, eating it is no big deal. Slow baking is the way to do it.
I was guiding at long lake the week prior to this, your friend landed as I took off. Not sure how he made out but we had allot of of moose sightings, one absolute giant that we couldn’t get to before he made it to the trees and my hunter wounded a fantastic bull the night before the plane landed. Pretty magical place. Congrats!
That's nice, but in the future you should not tell of your hunters wounded moose, just fuel for the Anti Hunting Croud, That is just my opinion though. Would Love To Hunt Up North.
Congrats! An experience worthy of the word EPIC.....Truly Epic, I too have been blessed with a week similar to this. Cherish the memories!!! Thank you for taking the extra effort to share your journey.
in total transparency, there is a lot of anti-hunting sentiment out there. I wanted to create a video that would pull those anti-hunting people closer to understanding the idea of why we hunt, and defer from showing the things that may push them away in an introductory video. I think there are TONS of videos out there of guys boning out a big moose, and it wasn't overly unique in this situation.
That’s shallow thinking. As hunters we have a responsibility to maintain and promote the integrity of what we do. Hunters are becoming the minority and if we continue to represent ourselves as uneducated apes, we’ll continue to lose supporters, hunters or not. In that case, say goodbye to our rights, access, conservation support, etc. As a hunter, I recognize there are some “necessary evils” involved but they don’t ALWAYS need to be on display. I appreciate that the focus here was on the experience and the beauty we get to live as hunters.
@@UnchartedSupplyCo But by NOT showing why we hunt, which is for the harvest of free-range, organic, hormone and antibiotic free meat you make it appear that the hunt is just about a trophy of antlers.
we didn't film the shot. It was just two of us, and I put the camera down to make sure I didn't miss the opportunity! The gunshot is from sighting in my rifle after our flight to make sure it was still on.
Gunson Outfitters. Guide is Merlin Fredrick. It was his first year guiding (he was a horse wrangler the season before). He went 5 for 5 on his hunts this year. Quite a kid and an awesome guide - he's a pro hunter for the NZ gov't back home.
Uncharted Supply Co awesome looking country. Looking at planning a hunt. Where did you fly from? What lake was shown where the float plane landed? At one point your guide was describing all the ridges you had climbed around a drainage...he mentions the name of the creek but his accent makes it difficult to pick up. What drainage were you in?
Hey @@anotherhunter777 - Reach out to Gunson Guiding - ggoutfitting.com - they can get you dialed. We flew from Muncho Lake, BC, but I promised my guide and outfitter that I would not to reveal exact locations of the valley or lake - sorry!
After Reilly left me, they flew to another camp... they saw giants from the air, but didn't see a single moose during their entire hunt. I truly felt bad for him since this hunt was his suggestion in the beginning.
Beautiful Bull Moose well worth the wait alright...As for the moose tongue its how you prepare it to enjoy the taste, its actually really delicious and very tender.. bon appetite
I didn’t actually record the shot as I was shooting my gun at the time. The noise is from earlier in the week when we were setting my gun in. It was just the two of us and we wanted to make sure we got the job done so the camera did not come out
Unfortunately, the dictator and bloodthirsty leader of Iran is not allowed to hunt and bans. This is very sad. I am very happy that you are free. I hope that one day we will be free or we can hunt for you freely.
The morning we found him and finally connected, we were 100% focused on getting the job done. We dropped anything weighing us down and moved quickly. the clips from that morning in the video are from my iPhone, which I didn't have out while stalking and taking the shot. I wish I had it too, but feel strongly that if I would have tried to do both, I would have failed.
Thanks Matt - Honestly, I watch this video from my desk and I'm envious of myself on this trip. Wish I could go back! And yes, those two are a couple. 25 and 19 yrs old. Amazing humans!
I’m glad you didn’t include footage of the actual shot. I enjoyed watching all of you just walk around the mountains for days stalking a moose only to have you walk up on it after you’d shot it. I mean I guess you shot it, we didn’t get to see it.
it was mainly a combo of my iPhone, GoPro Hero 5, and a Panasonic 4k handheld that has a 3,000x digital zoom - perfect for counting points when the spotting scopes didn't have enough power!

Ugggghhh!! Why do so many hunting videos cut the breaking down of the animal out of their footage! I want to see how much work is involved!!
