The East will always define where I’m from and has given me so many lessons to draw on as a hunter in the West.

I hunted Sturgeon point road out in vanderhoof for over 10 years in the early 2000s it's been exactly 10nyears since I've been there. I miss that place so much.

    P. S. When r you going to post the video of my duck triple with you Jeff and myself? Lol

Thanks Ryan! Sorry dude the rest of the footage was awful from the rain. Need a better set up for the camera gear to capture duck/goose hunts in the heavy winter rains. Would love to get out with you and Jeff soon to give it another go.

@@highbchunting For sure Ashley! Ducks have been pretty slow so far at the field. We're thinking it'll get better once the tempurature drops and then you gotta come out again.

That is not how we cleaned grouse....

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I will be saving the legs next season as already discussed below. How would you suggest grouse get cleaned beyond that?

@@highbchunting you would love the short story I wrote about an ol trapper.... we met him maybe 50 years ago.... And one day he was visiting our moose camp. We invited him for dinner. My brother said he would cook grouse. We were outside that afternoon, and my brother started cleaning a grouse...same...step on the wings...pull on legs, the peal the breast off. The trapper was pissed, and first words he said..."That's not how you clean a grouse....I'll show you how to clean a grouse" So, the next grouse, he sat down on a wooden block...sipped on his Rum...and plucked the feathers from that grouse...and told us stories...hunting and trapping stories... it was not long, and he had a beautiful little plucked grouse which looked like a Cornish game hen... oh and of couse he gutted it. But, from that day on, we have shot plenty of grouse...and we will either pluck them or skin them... legs, wings (not tips), backs and bones...into the stock pot...breasts..often debone and use in the stew, soup, rice, breast burger 😋... we shoot what we plan to eat... Spruce, soak in salt water for day or two...ruffle or willow.. better bird and often does no need soaking...
And that is my story....That is not how you clean a grouse... in memory of Russell Schuler

@@Mooseracks Thank you very very much for sharing this story. Next season I will follow this approach in honor of your old trapper friend and you for taking the time to share your story.
I am very dedicated to not wasting the game I harvest and was brought up utilizing the whole animal.
I guess grouse cleaning was in my blind spot so thanks for your help.
