This venom has always been the scariest. According one of the books about the movie, Tobey’s Spider-Man feats. are close to his 616 counterpart, meaning this venom could have the same feats as him. And let’s be honest for a second… We all rather be stuck in a room with Tom Hardy’s venom than that merciless monster.
Tom Hardy's Venom would probably just joke around with you, Topher Grace's Venom is going for the kill the second he sees you, that thing probably acts just as animalistic as Ultimate Venom.
Bruh that's the reason i couldn't avoid spiderman3 as a kid seen that venom is the closest thing to watching horor movie the way he is sneaking animalistic the jumb scares
This is reason why Raimiverse Venom is my favorite is because of his design, characterization, prehistoric reptile-like screeching, and the fact that he is literally Pure Evil incarnate. It makes him truly the most menacing and downright evil Spider-Man villains in the Raimiverse. Unlike Green Goblin and Doc Ock who had no control over their villainous actions as they were under a corrupting influence, Venom on the otherhand had full control over his villainous actions and relished in it. And he wanted to get back at Peter for ruining his life even though it was Eddie himself who ruined his own life in the first place by lying.
I just wish he had more dialog than just basic screeching and screaming. It gets old and annoying real fast. I also wish the film also showed Eddie's warped and corrupted perspective of what he's been going through, and his life and mental status are constantly regressing and driving him to madness. And how he believes Spider-Man is the root cause of all this pain and suffering.
"Never wound what you can't kill." has to be one of the COLDEST Venom lines in the character's history, hands down. That and his design is so sick, I love it.
Finally, someone says something positive about Topher Grace's Venom! And this version is actually scary too. I remember being absolutely terrified of this version as a kid. And growing up in the 2000s as a kid, it was a shock to me when I found out people hated this Venom. All I heard was how small he was and Eddie Brock showing his face too much. Like, come on. This is better than the funny Venom we've been getting.
@Muhammadrex-hr9hb no, they are not equals. Show me one of Venoms first comics where he acts like Hardy's Venom. Hell, even in the 90's animated series he did not act like Hardy's Venom. The only thing Hardy's Venom had going was how big he was.
Exactly, man! Hardy Venom is so much more goofy and weird than I thought. This Venom was pure terror and horror combined not to mention there is something cool about him I don't know exactly what. I just really like him
Raimi's vemon was pulled straight out of the 90s cartoon, who I thought was terrifying but Topher Grace and how the movie was interfered with by the studio .. really changed the vibes ... you didn't know the one and the all the character--- what was their overall role... then they killed off venom is quickly ... it reminds me a lot of TASM2 and how at the end of that movie I just sat there wondering where the hell was the rest of the movie. It was one big movie but no solid cohesiveness in the story and tone. As we (as community) talk about the masterpiece that Spider Man 2 was with Doc Oct .... its just soo good and the Spider Man 3 was and still is missing that element
Raimi's Venom was my introduction to the character i never 100% understood the hate towards Tophers venom heck this version used to give me nightmares as a kid tbh thus version is pure nightmare fuel i hope he returns one day even if its for 1 movie.
I think you really hit the nail on the head man! To me this Venom has always been way scarier than the Tom Hardy version. It also generally makes a lot more sense. It feels more like a parasitic organism the way it absorbs the hosts anger, destroying the host in the process. Great video!
Topher Grace's Venom is a beast, a demon pure evil something you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. In other hand Hardy's Venom is silly, ridiculous subject to current silly comedy trends which is sad, on top of that his origin is not related to spider man which is sad because that is the essence of the creation called Venom he is a poison to life of Peter Parker and Spider man, without spidey it's just a symbiote nothing else. About consuming Eddie in original ending, I speculate that actually for this version of Symbiote the host is just a building source for his main body, by eating Eddie he became bigger by processing his meat into it's material, or maybe he simply ate him so that the host can't reject him like Peter who knows. Overall the theme of the Spider-man 3 movie was revenge, darkness and forgiveness. Eating Eddie was supposed to be a symbol of being consumed by hatred.
If that version of venom from the Tobey Maguire series had the body of Tom Hardy and he had the mind of Tobey Maguire’s venom that will be the most powerful venom I’ve ever seen
The way the symbiote moves and attaches on to its hosts in the 2007 rendition really embodies how hatred can forcefully bond to someone and change them for the worse, thus turning them into an entirely different person as we see shown through Peter’s downward spiral throughout the movie during his time with the suit. Peter’s removal of the suit and return to the light in the church setting really helps to portray just how drastically the symbiote has changed him, as well as the movie’s theme of forgiveness and it’s necessity to overcome the hatred inside of us. We then watch as the now hostless symbiote finds a new home in Eddie and forcefully takes him over, giving the audience an idea of how hatred jumps from one person to the next and cements itself in the hearts of all whom it victimizes. I really appreciate how venom’s design in this movie reflects a dark and twisted version of Spider-Man with his messy webbing and similar stature; painting a picture of the before-and-after effects of hatred on the hearts of people and just how it takes them over and molds them into being someone they’re not. His side-by-side appearances with Spider-Man during their iconic battle helps give the audience a visual understanding of the difference between not only those who choose to forgive and those who hold on to their contempt, but the war between good and evil within ourselves as well. All in all, the design of Topher’s venom was fantastic not only for this movie and in capturing its elements, but also just in general. It will forever be timeless and nostalgic in my eyes.
Novel was even spookier with Eddie's demise. When Peter pulled out Eddie, it was all bones and skull had fangs instead of regular teeth. Even Venom symbiote wanted to either immediately eat or permanently bond with Peter. Peter was lucky to have those pipes and use his webs to pull them down.
I agree with the height thing, but at the same time I can understand what they were going for when they cast this actor. They wanted to create a mirror to Peter Parker and in this aspect Topher Grace was absolutely perfect.
I absolutely agree the venom with have now is kinda cringe I’m not saying 2007 venom is better based on nostalgia because Spider-Man 3 was one of the first Spider-Man movies I’ve ever watched I just think he was way menacing plus the freaking deleted content when venom was gonna consume Eddie damn that’s dark and 2007 venom did say I like being bad it makes me happy I kinda liked that line of Eddie
Another thing is if you look at the skull design from the original ending, you see those sharp teeths... normally after venom lefts the host nothing happens to the body but in that version venom is not just an alien suit, it changes your anotmy before it drains your life and while it does it you don't even realise what's happening to your body.
I remember hearing somewhere they scrapped the original ending because it didn’t test well with audiences and was “too scary for kids”, I was 7 when this movie dropped and I’d have thought this was so badass.
The old venom is more comic book accurate i agree, the new venom reminds me of james heller from the prototype games, not dissing new venom at all cause he still looks cool.
Awesome video. I'm glad to see more people appreciate this Venom and seeing the depth to his character not too many people give credit for. I always found him cool, and he is what made me interested in the character growing up as a Spider-Man fan.
I love this Venom’s design as it was my first proper introduction to the character. I really think the web lining on his body is cool, reflecting Spider Man. The claws and teeth also make him really terrifying and the spider symbol is just gorgeous and it’s sad we’ll probably never see Tom Hardy’s Venom with the Spidey symbol. I just wish bro was in the movie longer 😭
I like Topher Grace's venom transformation better than Tom Hardy's. The symbiote latching on his body like tiny little hands is creepy and cooler than getting consumed by a massive blob.
id rather choose the scarier and more Destructive venom then The goofy, good cop and bad cop venom we got in the Sony verse. Raimiverse venom is my Top 1 of all venoms. (TO ME)
And not only is this 2007 venom the best, he’s LITERALLY the strongest symbiot in ALL of live action. This venom hands down is my top GOATED and favorite venom.
Venom is more comic accurate in raimis.... reason: 1) Logo 2) Same size as Eddie brock (In the comics Eddie brock was the bulk, venom was just the alien suit and in Spider-Man 3, Eddie is smaller and so venom just buffs him up a small bit, but not too much). 3) Has Webs 4) Doesn't make weapons 5) Has spider-mans abilites, such as webs 6) Isn't making jokes But overall, Topher grace is more like the mcfarlane version whereas Tom Hardy is more like the base venom from the cartoons and merch media.
I wish both Tom & tophers venom's combined to create The ultimate scary venom. If you put the silly & goofy comedic of toms & take the scary power consuming darkness of tophers merge them into one you got the ultimate venom. Give tophers more teeth, make him more buff & taller, longer tongue make him funny but serious n killer you have a killer dark serious comedic venom. And yes topher grace can be comedic he starred in that 70's show. While Tom Hardy he's not really the comedic type. He starred in Batman the dark knight rises as bane. He beat the sh*t out him with no ease. He broke his back & locked him up in the prison where he came from. That's villain effort there. Maybe they should have switched symbiotes? Give Tom Hardys venom to topher & give tophers venom to Tom Hardy. Easy fix. Sam raimis venom isn't 100% symbiote is it. It's more dark goo of having need desire crave perfect host give it strength and agility more power within it. Like temptation you get tempted by evil deeds n it makes evil stronger but when you resist it gets harder n harder tug out get out of the darkness than be inside it. It's a half demon half body snatcher type of organism. Put it on it feels good at first then when you have it for too long you lose your persona & your life by wearing it every day. It starts consume get to you. And that's what it did with Tobey. It almost sucked the very effent life out of him til God called out said "Go to the church! Wash your sins off & I will show you the way." He did. He washed himself off from the dirt & then the dirt got unto Eddie & the demons that were on Peter went unto Eddie & took control possession over him. He made wrong choice you don't walk into the house of God & ask him to kill someone. That's the devil. Not God. God didn't answer because he doesn't kill. He forgives. He is good. Eddie allowed his rage n humiliation his sorrow become the better of him he didn't ask for forgiveness. He asked for death & the devil replied sending it's minions to do the work. Took eddies body, mind & soul made him it's. Spiderman 3 is about forgiveness. Not embracing the power of tempt or dark side.
He doesn’t really need it, especially since Peter was never involved with this symbiote, hence why he doesn’t have some of Peter’s powers So him having the spider symbol would make 0 sense
They should have brought him back in no way home it would have been so awesome and made things so much more difficult for the Spidermen. And oh my god a reaction from Tobey to seeing him come back that would be so sick just imagine that
I love him for the design as well as the writing, in my opinion venom being a behemoth of a thing doesn’t make him and different from the hulk, this venom is much skinnier while still being buff and the sounds it makes are crazy
This venom is as underrated as this movie. In my opinion this venom is scarier and way better than Tom hardy's. ALSO I really like his look and how he is acting like an animal, something more realistic I also prefer venom as a monster rather than an anti hero VENOM IS A VILLAIN AND SPIDERMAN 3 IS A GREAT MOVIE
My favorite Venom is either Tom Hardy’s Venom or the PS5 Venom, but that’s really more of a “gun to my head” kind of choice…I think there’s something of value in just about every version of Venom I’ve seen, even the ones that I’m not a fan of. In the case of this specific Venom, I’m pretty sure it was the first version of Venom I’d seen outside of a poster an elementary school teacher of mine had, and while it’s not really my favorite ANYMORE, I still like it, and I ESPECIALLY love that line “never wound what you can’t kill” because it’s not only intimidating, but it could almost be a good life lesson
THANK YOU I was born in 07 so I’ve always held this version of venom dear to heart (I remember being very young and having multiple DREAMS of this mf) While I love the Hardy and Insomniac venoms’ designs and character, this I would consider to be my favorite version so far
Raimi's Venom was a decent addition and felt like a nod to Raimi's horror roots. The problem is that he didn't have nearly enough screentime shine. That's mostly the producers' faults, but they should've saved Venom to be the main villain of his own film, possibly for Spider-Man 4.
People say that Topher Grace's Venom was not comic accurate , actually he was because in Marvel What if the symbiote did drain Peter Parker's youth and it bonded to Hulk , and on Secret Wars 25th Anniversary the symbiote was stuck to Spider-Man for over a decade and when they were separated there were only Peter Parker's bones , Topher's Venom was Todd Mcfarlen's Venom when he first appeared he was a villain , he had a huge hatred for Peter Parker himself for ruining his career and when he became Venom he looked exactly like Venom 2007 when it comes to the size and muscles except the messy web . This Venom would literally kill Venom 2018 and i am not overreacting , he can create web like Spidey he is twice as strong as Spider-Man heck he is faster and like you said he can create weapons
I Can't Believe It Took About Six Whole Years For A Video Like This To Be Released I've Always Preferred Topher's Awesome Evil Venom Over Tom's Weird Muscular Sus One Liner Droppin' Sitcom Venom I'm Sorry Instant Like 👍
Honestly if Topher Grace Venom had more screen time, more size difference, better menacing voice, and talked like Venom (like saying we instead of I). I have no doubt he’d be the GOAT.
Thats the interesting thing about this venom that i liked the most all tho i do enjoy the moments of tom hardys venom and the things he does but this Venom was entirely something different he was more than just some simple Basic symbiote looking for a Host to survive this Venom was a Genuine parasite. It didnt need a host to survive all it wanted was to use the Host as some type of Food Source so that it can keep growing stronger but it quite honestly saw spider man as the Ultimate food source and the Perfect Host for it cause Spider man is Mostly superhuman. This venom Gave off more Lovecraftian vibes with how eldritch and weird looking his final form looked with all the black tendrils everwhere but yeah this Venom was the most terrifying and tom hardys venom is just a Action packed badass Venom which is also good but this venom was a Absolute Monster which is fitting for his character
Topher Graces portrayal has always been the best for me. I honestly wish this version became the lethal protector of the raimi series. We do see some of that in Friend or Foe but its not as fleshed out since its a dumb kids game
I feel like if This two would meet the interaction would be like a reverse Megamind and Titan. "Oh have the presentation but that doesn't make you a villain" "Yeah? And what does?" "Ruthlessness" Something like that.
Tom hardys venom is like a comedian:- youd rather be trapped in a room with him other than that merciless monster from spiderman 3 he just toys around with you maybe uses you then it ditches you laughs then goes back to eddie Riamis venom is so unknown, we dont even know much about it all we know is that it wants to kill anything it sees even its own host its also really strong without a host and its going to kill anything, doesnt matter if its its host or anything plus the original ending shows how dangerous the symbiote is, it made peter naked as soon as he tore the suit off and it took eddies skin organs brain everything this venom is underrated hated too much but they dont even know the horror potential of what this venom can do
I have never known why some people hated this version of venom, he's always seemed the coolest and scariest out of all of the venoms.

I don’t think it was because of Venom in the movie it was just that SpiderMan 3 was so incredibly stuffed that people overlooked him

So you think scary venom is better then goofy dumbass venom?
Us:Correct,madam.
In my opinion, you are correct like I find this venom way more evil villainess and intimidating and comic accurate than the Tom Hardy venom
I very much agree this venom is my favorite to
This is a great video with great explanations man. 10/10
Thank you bro! I really appreciate it!💪
This will always be my Venom. I don’t care for the Tom Hardy version.
What if spiderman 4 has Topher's venom. Summoned by King in Black Knull
That would be amazing!!🔥
i think so that sam raimi should make solo movie on this venom
If only sony's venom had that spider symbol on his chect 😔
He doesn’t really need it, especially since Peter was never involved with this symbiote, hence why he doesn’t have some of Peter’s powers
So him having the spider symbol would make 0 sense
They should have brought him back in no way home it would have been so awesome and made things so much more difficult for the Spidermen. And oh my god a reaction from Tobey to seeing him come back that would be so sick just imagine that
topher grace is perfect.
Near perfect !! Was terrifying and menace but if he was bigger in size like Hardy and had a big tounge THEN he would be perfect !
I saw this thumbnail and I was like “ah hellll naw” then I heard him out
There was a hole in No Way Home when I didn't see HIM BROCK, THE REAL VENOM.
ALSO I really like his look and how he is acting like an animal, something more realistic
I also prefer venom as a monster rather than an anti hero
VENOM IS A VILLAIN AND SPIDERMAN 3 IS A GREAT MOVIE
THANK YOU
I was born in 07 so I’ve always held this version of venom dear to heart (I remember being very young and having multiple DREAMS of this mf)
While I love the Hardy and Insomniac venoms’ designs and character, this I would consider to be my favorite version so far
People who say that he is not comic acurate forgot that Venom was the same size as Spiderman in the first comic
I Can't Believe It Took About Six Whole Years For A Video Like This To Be Released I've Always Preferred Topher's Awesome Evil Venom Over Tom's Weird Muscular Sus One Liner Droppin' Sitcom Venom I'm Sorry Instant Like 👍
*Demonic Scary Venom
i've always preferred topher grace's venom compared to tom hardy's. Glad to see more people appreciate this adaptation
Honestly if Topher Grace Venom had more screen time, more size difference, better menacing voice, and talked like Venom (like saying we instead of I). I have no doubt he’d be the GOAT.
fine I'll rewatch Spider-Man 3 Final Battle with healthbars
We do see some of that in Friend or Foe but its not as fleshed out since its a dumb kids game
genuinely love spiderman 3 honestly idk y ppl hate it and i also i totally agree, this venom is the GOAT
Finally, someone who respects the og
spider-man 3 venom is so underrated
If topher was in Now Way home the 3 spidermen would’ve gotten killed fs😭
If Mysterio and Topher Venom replaced Sandman and Doc Ock it would of been a way bigger challenge for them for sure.
I feel like if This two would meet the interaction would be like a reverse Megamind and Titan.
"Oh have the presentation but that doesn't make you a villain"
"Yeah? And what does?"
"Ruthlessness"
Something like that.
I miss this venom scary & not a joke like the modern anti hero movies.
Tom hardys venom is like a comedian:- youd rather be trapped in a room with him other than that merciless monster from spiderman 3
he just toys around with you maybe uses you then it ditches you laughs then goes back to eddie
Riamis venom is so unknown, we dont even know much about it all we know is that it wants to kill anything it sees even its own host its also really strong without a host and its going to kill anything, doesnt matter if its its host or anything plus the original ending shows how dangerous the symbiote is, it made peter naked as soon as he tore the suit off and it took eddies skin organs brain everything
this venom is underrated hated too much but they dont even know the horror potential of what this venom can do
