The words she is using really point to her as the victim. Which of course is a fantasy. Since when does anyone refer to a 14 year old boy as a "Guy"? No honey.
You guys should see the footage of her getting arrested for drink driving. You see the "personality" full on display. Oh and the passenger is her mother! Yes excellent parent!
she told the boy to take his phone case off her phone, did she think he just carries around a phone case specifically for her phone type in case he was able to steal one?
I said the very same thing the first time I saw the footage. Take a beat and think lady- this kid so happens to have a case that fits your exact phone? The one he allegedly JUST stole? Okaaaaay...
I watched the CBS interview - it just highlighted her entitlement and horrendous attitude. Body slamming a child is not shouting at that child. She should be jailed for abusing the boy 😕😕 might make her grow up a bit
Her parents sheltered and spoiled her into becoming what she is. If they failed to raise her properly, she could from now on only be scared and shamed into good behavior with legal sentences. But that level of entitlement, whether innate or put into her head by her incompetent parents, could never be wiped out, I'm afraid. But I agree with Dr. Grande that she's not going to have an easy life from now on. Everybody knows her face and name, this case is going to haunt her for the rest of her life, perhaps even if her character improves. I wouldn't be surprised, if she decided to change her name later. I would in her place.
I believe her when she says that. Thing is, intention doesn’t change what she did. This happened because she wouldn’t take a step back and contemplate what happened to her phone, that she lost her phone rather than it was stolen. Instead of remain reasonable she reacted at the first person she saw with what looked like her phone. And she didn’t hold herself back because she’s used to getting her way and not being held responsible f9r her actions
If I'm not mistaken, in her "apology," Poncetto said: "I'm sorry if he felt that I attacked him." There's *video* of her tackling him to the ground. He didn't imagine it. He didn't have an odd feeling that an attack on him might have happened, without any evidence to support that feeling. It happened. "Feelings" have nothing to do with it. This "girl" may never be able to plug herself into reality. At 22, it might be too late.
You need to learn a out Dalia Dippolito. She hired a hitman to kill her husband, was caught on film haggling with the hitman, then called her husband from prison demanding he drop the charges, trying to gaslight him into trusting her and not his lying eyes & ears when she knew he saw the recordings of her talking about how she wanted him murdered. Her husband kept bringing up he heard what she said on those videos and she never changed her story. It was always “You don’t understand” and “I didn’t do anything”, or “Why are you doing this to ME?” She couldn’t process being unable to use her status as a young and attractive woman to bend men to her will. Even being dead to rights with audio/video proving her guilt she wouldn’t admit what she had done

It's not narcissism. I've known people like her in the past. Their issues are they have a lot of moral flaws and qualities that are not appealing to most people. They did not do well in school. They are generally lazy. They don't have any goals in life. They are generally sociably negative people and can never find anything good to say about anything or anyone. And they know this about themselves. When they go out into the world, they go out with a very fragile and delicate mask on. Joggers and bike riders make her angry because she's too lazy to ride a bicycle and too lazy to jog. The friendly restaurant hostess makes her angry because she's doesn't know how to be friendly like the hostess. Her lawyer makes her angry because she's too stupid to go to college and become a lawyer. The world is a mirror that reflects her reflection right back at her to see, and she doesn't like what she sees.
There's not much else we can say about this woman. Her life will never be normal or the same again. We were given her first and last name. The media will follow her for the rest of her life. And thanks to social media, she will forever be immortalized as the "Soho Karen" and this will be the one defining moment of her life that everyone will remember her for. Not to mention what the justice system will do to her. I pray that she will find (or rediscover) God and turn her negative life into a more positive one.

Exactly, and I am woman. I am well aware that females are typically the victim, but this is one of those cases where if you reversed the roles, a 22 year old man tackling a 14 year old girl...people would be clamoring to put him away. The victim was a kid who acted like a kid, his defender was a parent who acted like a parent, the assailant was a grown woman who acted like a violent child, and my gut instinct is telling me that if this had been a white kid things would have been different and no one would know about this story.
The alternative to the ‘daddy’ cap giving her the appearance of looking younger is that it makes her look like she thinks of herself as an escort... which are 2 very conflicting roles.

How ironic her claiming she can't be racist because she is a person of colour... implying that only white people can he racist... which is a racist statement.
She may indeed be a racist - but here's the thing: Narcissists - generally aren't necessarily racist, even though they'll use racist terms. When they're in "combat" - their goal is to hurt. So they'll pick through a list of insults in their heads, and try them out, one by one. They study the victim's reaction. When an insult hits - they'll repeat it. Racist terms will be used on minorities just because obviously - they hurt. Bad. But make no mistake - they're that cruel to everyone. I say this - because I hope this gives "armor" against their taunts. Her excuse that she's Puerto Rican so she can't be racist is actually a common argument about racism. They say that it's impossible for minorities to be racist because they're not the majority. I've always disagreed with that argument. You absolutely can still be racist as a minoriy

The youngsters got used to having their way in everything from early childhood. You have a toddler, you absolutely have to put down some boundaries already from that young age. You've got to teach your kids how to be a human being, and start early! My beliefe is as follows: It is unhealthy for a child to never see his/her parents angry. I don't say you should beat your child, or punish them too hard, but they should get to see you get mad sometimes, when they do something wrong. It's not a bad thing. It teaches them that some kinds of behaviour is not to be accepted.

That "girl" does what she wants. The lawyer HAD to have known it was terrible idea, if she'd at least spoken to her for 5min before or since taking her as a client. I think Miya lined all the interviews up for exposure, as she is listed her occupation as "actress/model" on some internet pages. Her lawyer probably insisted on being there to try to mitigate her client's potential tumble down the hole. Her lawyer could not have known that Miya talks to EVERYONE like that, even Oprah's best friend.
Her responses to Gayle were infuriating. I couldn’t believe my ears. Seriously, I am shocked that people can think that way. Following her logic about being traumatized while clearly causing it, there will be killers very soon that will need therapy alongside the victim's family to get over trauma (that they have caused). "There appears to be arrogance" is an understatement in my opinion. Thank you for the video, Dr. Grande!
Actually, that is just what Jodi Arias' attorney argued. It may not engender much sympathy though, when you, yourself, create the chaos that results in your own `trauma'.
To be fair, most murderers or prisoners in general have mental health issues. The truth is that we would probably have a lot less murderers in society if mental health issues were being treated properly..
@@nicoleowens2318 It depends. If we argue that everyone who’s ever killed has some degree of mental deformity, no one would be found fit to stand trial, not to mention people who had an obligation or the necessity to take a life (as part of their job). I think it’s more complicated to distinguish than saying that everyone who landed in prison or jail had some kind of mental illness. Insurance fraud, DUI-s, a miscalculated burglary that turned into a home invasion, and other charges like these could land someone in prison for years if not for life, yet I don’t believe that the cause of their actions were their mental problems.
@@steve_the_first I hear ya. I would argue, would people be acting criminally or recklessly if they weren't mentally ill in some way? Poverty causes mental illness, that's something social scientists understand pretty well. Lack of parental guidance, growing up in dangerous neighborhoods, food insecurity, these all affect mental health too. Those that drink too much or do drugs, have sexual disorder, the list goes on. I'm not saying there should be no one that is accountable, all I'm saying is that prisons are run for private profit and that incentivises a lot of the arrests in the first place, as the prison lobbyists pay off justices and police departments to fill their prisons. I'm saying if we put money instead into mental health help and rehabilitation, instead of throwing everyone (especially nonviolent offenders) in prison, there would be much less recidivism or criminality leaking back onto the streets. A nonviolent offender will likely only become more criminal after incarceration, which is the opposite of what we want. There should only be room for the violent in prisons, and even then I think it needs to be treated differently. A lot of people seek punishment when intervention and rehabilitation are possible for many people. You can see it in some European countries, the better they treat them the more likely they are to do things differently later. A lot of these prisoners have been abused or had no guidance all of their lives, they are essentially, mentally, messed up kids. They have often never had compassion a day in their lives, and that leads to changes in the brain that sets these people apart, also something science can prove. We wouldn't expect a feral cat to act like one raised in a home, right? If you haven't seen the level of abuse and neglect in inner cities or don't study psych that might sound ridiculous to you, but it's true. Touch and eye contact are crucial for babies, attention and validation are really important to children. Do all people without these things murder? Of course not. But neither do all people outside of prison respond the same. It's a complicated mix of brain chemistry and nurturing. Some might become abusive themselves, some might become the abused, but no one really comes out unharmed. I just wish we would take this into consideration as much as profits of prisons when making legislation that deals with crime. I could understand if there was no evidence elsewhere that more humane prisons have more beneficial outcomes, but there is proof that many can be reformed, even violent ones. Instead in America we let greed and corruption rule 😕

But did I HURT anyone? No. Did I come close? No. Would I ever even have that thought enter my brain? No! Anxiety/panic attacks are not an excuse to tackle and beat up children, in my experience. Maybe that’s just me, though. 😒
I loved the way she began to babble incoherently when she couldn't come up with more excuses. And the ultimate lack of respect, when she shushed Gayle like she were a dog.
I think the reason why she said this teenager stole her phone bc when she realized she lost it, she wanted to lie on someone and hopefully take their phone acting like it is hers so she wouldn't have to spend another $1,200 on an iPhone. Luckily the teenager did not hand the phone to the Manager bc he probably would have given the phone to her for her to verify if it was hers and she would have run off with it.
She Pled guilty to one second degree felony unlawful imprisonment a hate crime. She got 2 years probation and if she stays out of trouble she can have that felony removed from her record.
The trickery of wordplay and misdirection at it's best. I'm sure her lawyer was behind everything she said. Anytime she spoke freely,, she was showing her real nature. Anytime she attempted to display any regret it was scripted and recited terribly. You can tell she was frustrated just trying to say she didn't mean no harm smh. Pretty much said to hell with it when failed and threw in the 2021 peace nonsense at the end. She thought it sounded good although that delivery was pathetic
Unbelievable. She seems to be asserting that: 1) he did steal the phone 2) the hotel got the phone back from him and they then conjured up the story with the taxi driver to support the teenager. 3) she can provide proof that the taxi ruse did happen; The hotel should also sue for libel; but, they won't because it looks bad for them suing someone in obvious need of mental help. She does need s dose of 'reality' in prison to reflect and get mental therapy.. She's a danger to herself and those around her.
I was appalled & saddened when I watched the Gayle/ Ponsetto interview. Any 22 yr old who behaves that flippant when facing any allegations should see a mental health professional ASAP. The "daddy" cap also confused me. Thanks Dr Grande.
Sociopathic personalities used to be comparatively rare, but they're now quite common people under the age of 35. It's not their fault: it was the way they were raised, where there were no consequences for bad behavior growing up--in fact, parents who raised that generation *support* antisocial behavior by their kids. I was a teacher for thirty years and saw this shift from one generation to the next. These young people will be running our society some day. God help us.
Yes, I worked at an aide for 10 years, and there is no accountability for a lot of kids, and their parents are teaching them to be aggressive. In one of my mom groups the general consensus is that they want to teach their kids to “not take any shit”. Lovely goals, why not teach children to think with compassion and learn to compromise?
I keep hearing “she’s Puerto Rican” okay...what does that have to do with this? Being Puerto Rican’s can be white or black. You just have to be born there, it’s a nationality, not a race. 💡

@@pamelapeters3342 Which is a BS argument because Hispanic isn't a race, but rather an ethnic group based on linguistics. I love how she thinks that claiming to be Puerto Rican somehow means she can't be racist. Meanwhile all Latinos/Hispanics know damn well that our communities are some of the MOST racist against Black and Indigenous peoples bc of the Spanish caste system that's ingrained in our cultures.
As a Puerto Rican I feel so ashamed she probably thinks cause she’s mixed with black that she can’t be racist which is awful to think: although I’m proud of my African heritage we need to teach that one cannot compare the experiente of darker shade people from those of light skin individuals. It happened. "Feelings" have nothing to do with it. This "girl" may never be able to plug herself into reality. At 22, it might be too late.
Gaslighting is a universal tactic used by those with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Her husband kept bringing up he heard what she said on those videos and she never changed her story. It was always “You don’t understand” and “I didn’t do anything”, or “Why are you doing this to ME?”

Cue words!

She may indeed be a racist - but here's the thing:
Narcissists - generally aren't necessarily racist, even though they'll use racist terms.

I bet 80% of people don’t have a clue. Women are physically attacking people, kids are disrespecting their teachers, masks have their own participation problems…it goes on and on. Lawyer of the year: "My client appears to have some mental problems and might be arrested at any moment. I'll just let her talk to press, what could go wrong? Self incrimination? Naaaah!"
It's possible the lawyer deliberately allowed her client to eviscerate herself publicly. Maybe she wants her to be punished for her behavior.

Victim mentality..."I'm a girl...I didn't mean it...he was a guy...his father did drag me and pull my hair...I'm sweet..." Add to DUI s and antisocial behaviour. She has a PD.
oh, she definitely has a personality disorder
Something tells me Miya's future will intersect with law enforcement again.
I lost my phone. I had an anxiety attack. I cried in public. I made a fool of myself because of how much I freaked out and had a “meltdown.” I was in a foreign country which is part of why I had that reaction, plus the fact that I had not yet gotten anxiety medication from a doctor.
But did I HURT anyone? No.
Did I come close? No.
Would I ever even have that thought enter my brain? No!
Anxiety/panic attacks are not an excuse to tackle and beat up children, in my experience. Maybe that’s just me, though. 😒
Ponsetto is conveniently Puerto Rican. Her acting page she list "Caucasian" and her IG she has "Greek Girl".
Hmmmmmm strange
Maybe she has multiple ethnicities, & brings whichever to the forefront when it's convenient for her! 😐
She a white Puerto Rican . Just like there black Puerto Rican . Puerto Rican is not a damn race
@Mary Howard
To Mary Howard

@@mizzpoetrics Or, maybe she has multiple personalities, each of which has a different ethnicity. Lol
"how to destroy your life while looking as foolish as possible"
I loved the way she began to babble incoherently when she couldn't come up with more excuses. And the ultimate lack of respect, when she shushed Gayle like she were a dog.
lol he got jokes
I think the reason why she said this teenager stole her phone bc when she realized she lost it, she wanted to lie on someone and hopefully take their phone acting like it is hers so she wouldn't have to spend another $1,200 on an iPhone. Luckily the teenager did not hand the phone to the Manager bc he probably would have given the phone to her for her to verify if it was hers and she would have run off with it.
Hahahaha, NO one could get that title, _"So-Ho Karen"_ out without cracking!
When are we getting “not diagnosing anybody” merch
Yess
I would add, "I am just speculating" people will run away from you🤣🤣
I'd buy that, in a heart beat.
I would so buy that!
Does "I'm not diagnosing anybody" - come in Mugs and blanket throws?
I do so much want a framed cross-stich!
“How to destroy your life while looking as foolish as possible” lol 😂 insight and sarcasm, gets me every time 😊
When she was on the news wearing a hat that says “Daddy” forget it that’s all I needed to know.
She Pled guilty to one second degree felony unlawful imprisonment a hate crime. She got 2 years probation and if she stays out of trouble she can have that felony removed from her record.
"The more she talks the more of a disturbing picture she draws of herself" . This is such a clear way to describe a variety of challenging people!
She obviously doesn’t take the advice from people with her best interest in mind.
She called herself “a girl” but the 14 yr old boy “a guy” ?? Hmmmm🙄🙄🙄
She thought it sounded good although that delivery was pathetic
yep playing the young innocent female card
You know you have a bad lawyer when your lawyer can’t do math on the fly 🤣🤣🤣
Unbelievable. She seems to be asserting that:
1) he did steal the phone
2) the hotel got the phone back from him and they then conjured up the story with the taxi driver to support the teenager.
3) she can provide proof that the taxi ruse did happen;
The hotel should also sue for libel; but, they won't because it looks bad for them suing someone in obvious need of mental help.
She does need s dose of 'reality' in prison to reflect and get mental therapy..
She's a danger to herself and those around her.
This woman is not a scared girl; she's the ultimate karen in training
Training? She's a fully realized "Karen".
She is a self actualized Karen. 😆😂🤣🤭🤭🤪
In training? She is a worse than a Karen. I’d take a karen any day of this thing.
Yeah and she's not even why
Lol😂👍🏽
That “Daddy” hat just KILLS me. Girl, what were you thinking? Psychotic.
I keep hearing “she’s Puerto Rican” okay...what does that have to do with this? Being Puerto Rican’s can be white or black. You just have to be born there, it’s a nationality, not a race. 💡
To Wild Opal
😉👍🏼
Poncetto is using the fact that she is hispanic as a reason for her not attacking the kid based on his race. She's saying she's incapable of being racist.
@@pamelapeters3342 Which is a BS argument because Hispanic isn't a race, but rather an ethnic group based on linguistics. One can be a White Hispanic(ancestors are from Spain and didn't procreate much or at all with the Indigenous population or the descendants of the black slaves who were brought to some parts of Latin America), or a Black Hispanic, or an Indigenous Hispanic, or a mestizo Hispanic(mixed race).
“I keep hearing she’s Puerto Rican”. That’s because the media for some strange reason kept referring to her as White.
Yeah, US nationality 🤦
Thank you for covering this! I was one of the people who asked you to do it. Thank you for reading our requests, Dr. Grande.
I feel bad for the boy. It is horrible to deal with hate, violence and being treated as a criminal when you have done nothing wrong.
The only reason I have a cell phone is to watch Dr. Grande’s analysis and speculations of cases that have made headlines. 😂
That “Daddy” cap looks like something a teenage girl would wear. I think she’s wearing it because she believes it’ll create the illusion that she’s younger than she actually is in order to gain sympathy
*She's looking for a sugar daddy, hence the hat* 😒
I never thought of it like that. Good observation!
@@Griselda_Puppy lol
Maybe she should get a hat that reads:
Felon
Or...Convict
I think the jumpsuit would do better and be a much louder statement
or Karen
Yup...or guilty

MAGA hat would be perfect
She left her phone in the Uber, she never even brought it in the hotel. The manager requesting the young man show her his phone empowered this thug. She got NO jail time, that disgusts me as much as her behavior.
This is a very unique approach in content construction! In my opinion, the total separation of narrator to content combined with a dispassionate, analytical and precise breakdown of events make this approach very interesting. Good job!
I bet she tells people her grandparents are from Spain.
@@moneybags999 ikr
a light skinned Latino/Hispanic claiming they aren't racist lol yeah i have seen that before.
As a Puerto Rican I feel so ashamed she probably thinks cause she’s mixed with black that she can’t be racist which is awful to think: although I’m proud of my African heritage we need to teach that one cannot compare the experiente of darker shade people from those of light skin individuals. This woman attacked a child and needs to pay for it.
She probably calls black people mayates and Mexican immigrants choonts. I hate to say this, but I glad she is not an O’Brien or a Shaunessy.
"Hello this is Dr. Grande."
"Hi Dr. Grande." Me everytime
I love that.
Me too!
So do I :) I didn't even notice...
Same!
EXCELLENT summary, explanation, and analysis! HOWEVER, two years in jail for a first-time conviction?! A black mark that could ruin the rest of her life? No. Probation. Mandatory counseling. Compensation to the victim. Criminal overcharging, excessive prosecution, and prison packing are MUCH bigger problems than this wild child.
"I'm puerto rican so I can't be racist." I cant believe people say this with a straight face
A friend told me that "her parents didn't love her enough to teach her kindness." I have no way of knowing her situation, but she, obviously, hasn't been taught any type of conflict resolution skills.
Well, her mom was arrested alongside her last year being drunk and disorderly, so we get a little glimpse into that situation. She seems to be demonstrating the same belligerent, entitled behavior her mom models for her.
Or maybe loved her so much, that it instilled in her that she can never be wrong?
@@jakobole that’s not love
Based on the fact that her mother has been involved in her antics, I'd have to conclude that mom is probably an entitled Karen and treats her daughter like a friend.
