      There's a large homeless camp in the area of these caves. This cave is kind of a park in the middle of the city. It's like between a freeway and a Housing Development there's a rocky area with some Cliffs and caves.
      Hey they found a dead body in one of the caves a couple years ago. So it's super nice.

    Been trying to get this edited into a video for the front page but I don't know if I'll ever make it. And in the end it got very dangerous. For those paying attention this is also the cave in which rocks fell on someone else when we visited at a later date.

    Do you think that talking to the camera helps you stay calm? It's something I did a lot of too when hiking, there are a few trails on the Appalachian Trail that require you to sprawl up rocks or up sketchy areas and I would always keep myself entertained by talking - that would keep me focused on the task and distracted from my negative emotions.

    • @EvenDarker
      @EvenDarker  Год назад +4

      I don't know anymore because that's what I do out of habit. But if I get very nervous or there's some trouble I always put the camera away. It can be a helpful distraction but it can also be a hurtful one. People will never see the most dangerous stuff we do because I don't bother trying to take video.
      Which means by default, everything that you see us do is easy enough for us to do it and also take video of it.

    sometimes when you're in a map making team i see the guys have a plastic sheet/board to slide on when the terrain isn't smooth.
    could you maybe wear a really strong and thick plastic raincoat to enable easier sliding through the tight passages?
    I reckon you would sweat too much and it would take the fun out of the challenge ha.
    either way i love watching your stuff

    • @EvenDarker
      @EvenDarker  Год назад

      We use the plastic sheets so we can slide on the rocks. If we in any way attach them to our bodies then we will no longer be able to slide. And we will die. The sliders stick to the Rocks we slide on them. It's transformed our caving and just literally completely changed our ability to get in and out of tight caves. Just pieces of plastic.
      We get good ideas every once in awhile about clothes construction but in the end it's pretty easy just to use cheap clothes and throw the plastic sliders down

      Thank you. However caving is a sport of modern man! Never before has mankind had the resources to get deep inside caves. Historically humans would use the entrances to caves because they are a mild temperature in the winter or the summer. But never could get beyond that because it presented them with a danger they didn't need.
      In other words, on a historical level, this is the era of caveman!

      If he was a problem you could get heat resistant kitchen plastic and some of that is clear or opaque

      Yes and that's a no from me dawg.
      I've done it a few times but not random people, it was as a courtesy to our local caving Club taking some new folks through this exact cave. They got very hurt and the situation was extremely dangerous almost immediately. It's my fault for taking someone inexperienced. I will never do it again.
      I almost always cave by myself or only with very close friends anyway. I don't really have a lot of ambition for hanging out with strangers. And it's also about time that's difficult to schedule that kind of stuff.
