Another one for the books! The cave walls are so interesting, especially in the area you called the lava waterfall. Thank you for braving this cave. Can't wait to see what's at the bottom!
your whole family are awesome. you guys enjoy each other and it shows. and you're doing it while partaking in very dangerous activity. good knowledge and good equipment make it safe. so wholesome seeing three generations enjoying themselves at an elite level
Just a little reminder for all you climbers out there - I've been watching a channel that tests all the gear to breaking point. A very interesting test was dirty rope vs clean rope. The dirty rope performed *much* worse compared to clean rope. Even just washing the rope in a normal washing machine will improve its performance by a long way.
No rope has ever failed. It's just not the failpoint with climbing gear. So while clean rope May fare better than dirty rope, all rope will fare just fine in life support situations. Also 100% of people who use rope climbing, thoroughly clean their ropes every time out. And then decommission them away after a specific amount of uses. I've never seen a climber with a dirty rope.
I appreciate you saying that. Sometimes I could be kinder but in general he has to be treated like a man down here because it is a dangerous situation. And he's a fully capable and responsible caver.
I definitely wonder -- Are there any issues with you opening up the cave? Do you seal it back when you leave? Just out of curiosity since it's been untouched for so long. Fantastic video and definitely in awe of you and the team do!
Yeah. Maybe not the original original but lots of photos of the inside gate. I would have used them on this video but our caving group didn't want me to. They're kind of copyrighted I guess. I do have some old signs and the original key! But I don't know if there's any pictures of the landscape outside. Just the gate. I can email them to you.
No worries then about the lava being sharp enough to erode the rope? Somehow I have the idea lava is super sharp. Enjoyed the adventures and caves. Thank you.
Yes it's sharp enough to erode the rope. We have options. We can protect the Rope on the edges or just be careful and throw the ropes away after a couple uses. But the rock is definitely sharp enough to cut the rope.
Yes and no on do we know how it was created. It is a lava tube so it was volcanic. But why it is this particular shape and why it drops so much is somewhat unknown. We can only speculate. Most Lava Tubes do not get shaped like this and do not have this tremendous of color. The basic speculation is that the lava perhaps flowed in an already existent Canyon. So it dropped along where perhaps there were waterfalls. Creating the vertical effect in the cave. But it is a wild one. For sure the premier cave in the area.
Well and even the new part of the video is years old. We're on kind of a time delay with most of our videos. Especially with the raw versions I like to wait until the edited versions run their course on the main page.
Yeah the very beginning of this video we filmed several years ago when we were initially trying to get into that cave. Jacob was just a little fella! But we thought better of it and waited till Jacob was a little older and had some more vertical training. Even then we had our problems!
No. We don't even interact with the public. I don't even cave with my own friends! If you're really interested in caving you would want to join an organized caving group. They can be found by searching the internet. Sometimes they are on Facebook sometimes you can just find them on Google by searching for caving groups in your area. They usually have a membership and require some training but that's about the only way if you really are interested in caving.
@@EvenDarker Yes. I was also wondering. From a geological perspective, the pit must have happened because of the immense siphon pressure for the lava/water to go somewhere else. So, theoretically, in the pit, there should be another passage currently covered by a lava wall.
Why don’t the state just dynamite the roads and the lakes and the mountains just level the lot just shut everything that can kill someone. I hate the nanny state.
Part 1 of 2. Still no actual exploration of the bottom was pit. But we will get to it.
A rare Jacob's dad appearance?
He seems just as crazy enthusiastic as you are!
Nice guy, just like the rest of your tribe ✌️

My Friday just got better. Thank you for all the amazing videos.
Happy to hear your Friday perked up. Caving does that for us too. Grandpa.
Cool to see Gpa with you guys :) Pretty exciting stuff!!
Wow,Jacob is so young in this video, this must be a old one from the archive...cool.
It is. He has also grown soooo fast it’s amazing. From 4’9 to 5’11 in less than two years.
I like how Jacob is not being babied: "do right or don't do at all".
I appreciate you saying that. Sometimes I could be kinder but in general he has to be treated like a man down here because it is a dangerous situation. And he's a fully capable and responsible caver.
@@EvenDarker Do you have any dreams or plans for a Veryovkina Cave?
@@EvenDarker I like how brave and humble he is to listen to your teaching. He has a professional attitude.
That was quite the adventure. Great caving guys.
This may not be your first cave adventure. We have a better one for a Navy Dog
@@billsanders9387 sounds fun, as long as it it isn't tight. Lol
Always exciting when you guys post.
Always like your comments.
This one was a long time coming!
It’s a slow process.
Yall are amazing ❤ Jacob is so brave like his uncle and grandfather ❤
Now that's a cave. So easy a cave man can map it. 🤟
This beast has defied mappers for decades. We’re getting it done slowly.
love the videos , someone on facebook is stealing your content also, i have messaged your page on there with more details
If we find them, they’d know what’s in the bottomless pit. 🤪🤪

" Grandpa had serious beans this morning" 🙂
And 65 years of caving under his belt.

Well the short answer is no.
And a different answer is I don't care.
The long answer has a lot of variables but it's still fine.
@@EvenDarker I love this answer haha thanks !
Have you made back bottomless pit ....
super cool video. friendly thanks
I know that cave. Have always wondered what the original entrance looked like. Do you know if any photos exist?

One thing I'm unsure of, is it usually the case that the climb intonthe cave is longer than the climb out, or vice versa?
Also, I'm sure I had some of grandpa's beans the other day.
100%
Very explosive... Ahem... Results..!
16:28 as grandpa has no gloves on.😂
He was sneaking a little video on his phone
when they first entered the rainbow rocks, i thought i was tripping on something
Caving is very trippy.
Great video

Sounds like Jim Carrey at 33:16ish, fire Marshall Bill
I can do a pretty good Jim Carrey impersonation. The funny young version of him. Not the old grumpy version. Although I suppose I can do that one too.
