am so pleased you went looking for some limestone caves :) it must be cool for you to explore different types of rock. Over here across the pond in nottingham people occasionally discover entrances to the old limestone caves in peoples backyards ! I'd say we discover 1 per year and some of them link all the way back to nottingham castle. would be incredible if you guys mapped it all out for us lol 😃 !! Stu
Yeah y'all got a lot of good Limestone there. We do have some excellent Limestone caves it's just a bit of a drive. And we are also always looking for more. When we go looking for caves very often we don't find much. It takes a long time. And then sometimes boom we discover huge ones. But on the island there you guys have some massive beautiful limestone *There's a big one in the area we were looking but it hasn't been rediscovered in like 50 years. But I think I can find it. People build up around them and then they get hidden on private farms and lost forever
We've got some leads out here in Virginia we've been using cal topo to look for sinks and potential karst features in some isolated forest and we're going to start checking them out.
Caves are everywhere. And they're almost always where you wouldn't think! It's tough to find them at random but we have a lot of systems in place for what we are doing.
Hello. I have been watching both of your channels for quite some time now. This is a question you probably get quite a bit, but are you bringing any atmosphere monitoring equipment with you? How do you ensure a safe environment if not?
Well thank you for watching I hope you're enjoying it. It is a question we get a lot. I don't know how to answer the question because it never crossed our minds that hiking outside in the fresh air would require equipment to monitor the atmosphere. I think it's possible some deep caves have issues but it's usually a mining problem. Natural caves are grnerally fresh as a daisy. What I've learned is that if people sat down and made a list of their 10 greatest concerns about caving... none of the list would include the actual problems of caving. Like if I made a list and someone else who doesn't cave makes a list, we're not going to have any overlapping concerns. And it's just a long way of saying, I think the most dangerous part about caving is not knowing what is going to be a problem. I always imagine someone showing up to a cave with a bunch of gear and then going inside and realizing, they're going to freeze to death in minutes! * cave temperature does depend on location but the caves Where We Are, are just about freezing
@@EvenDarker thank you so much for your reply and I absolutely understand what you are saying. I spent many years as an atmospheric tester in industrial settings, so old habits die hard!
Yeah this channel is just our leftover videos. Stuff we were going to throw away but decided that it could have a home here. Our actual caving videos are here; youtube.com/@CalvinHikes?si=hJVAJfdNr4Z_rn_3

It's great to see another video. Thank you
Caving is much easier than editing videos. Thanks for watching
I would really like to go caving sometime, but I'm too paranoid of spiders!
I think I saw a spider at 8:29.

Unfortunately I have to drive a few hundred miles seeing as I'm on the coast...
Caves kinda everywhere. Places you wouldn't even think.

You may have one in your back yard.
@billsanders9387 Well, there could be, but it would take just a bit of digging to find it. Lol
Good stuff. slide in !
Would love to join!

I've heard you say a couple times on many videos say "the main channel"... what is the main channel's name?

@danwesten2771 Exactly! A few days ago a Brit jumped off a hightower and his parachute didn't work.
