Cody's the type of guy who could turn a person into a beautiful pendant, a battery and a high explosive.
Well, humans can work as batteries already in some situations and there's plenty enough carbon, oxygen and nitrogen to make an explosive if you're patient enough. bit heavy for a pendant tho I'd say ;)

🤔 Humans actually worked really well as batteries in the Matrix! Lol Obviously that's fictional, and people will never be kept in "cells" as batteries. But since the 50s, the US govt, including the CIA and other bureaucracies, through private corporations and university research centers, have been developing various mind control technologies and "techniques". Always been one of my favorite parts of his content. A lot of his equipment is really DIY and Jerry rigged, and it's so cool what he's able to do with it
I feel like what is heavily underappreciated is the incredibly huge work that goes into the video, the research, the figuring out what might work, the preliminary tests, the first working reaction and then you have to FILM it too!

Explosions and fire/Extractions and Ire, comes in as the post-grad chemistry student who does his practical chemistry in the shed. RUclips has more excellent and relatable chemistry teachers than any institution!
As soon as I saw E&I do this yesterday, my first thought was "Hm, this seems more like a Cody project" And sure enough... lmao
Extractions&Ire's attempt was kind of a train wreck. He did not cook the organics and carbon off the bones. Of course Cody has a background more geared to metal extraction and he is not scared to get things hot to just burn off the junk he does not want. Or it seems using Mercury.

I'll just fuck it up royally in a shed instead!" and gone for comedic relief instead. He is actually a fairly decent chemist, and he's managed to produce some rather hazardous explosives and lived to tell the tale.

I got so scared when he started the electrolysis. Like yeah got this sealed container with hydrogen oxygen and alkiline metal and water. Very very safe don't worry.
Don't forget the mercury! Its role is to splash everywhere and release toxic vapor when the rest of the bomb goes off.
What I love about Cody is he's very smart, he can do some awesome things and he can also recognize the correct and safe way to do said things but he's ballsy enough to swiftly disregard it and let her wobble.

I love the juxtaposition of Cody's technique and NileRed's. Nile's would have started with buying bones from somewhere on the internet followed by answering a lot of the RCMP's questions.

Compared to NileReds clean white lab, this almost looks like a crack setup or something. Seeing Cody still being able to do things with this stuff is fun to see.

@Cody’sLab doesn’t need all the fancy equipment to put on a show to make you believe he’s the real deal, his knowledge speaks for himself, and the fact that he doesn’t need all the fancy store bought equipment and makes a lot of his own is just a testament to how awesome he really is

Something worth looking into for extraction is strontium. It's in most glow in the dark plastics! I discovered it when printing with GITD filaments, turns out it's extra abrasive.

A lot of his videos contain useful information in that scenario. I personally like the direction he is going with the mars base project, but I wouldn’t mind watching some apocalyptic Macgyver themed videos either. It’s a good idea. 👍🏼

I do like Cody's content because it's not done in a fancy lab with a bunch of expensive glassware. I mean look at his vacuum pump, it's a hand-operated brake bleeder pump lol. His stuff feel so approachable like anybody can do it, not that anybody should be doing half the things he does, but that's why I like him. He's the perfect combination of mad scientist and Evil Genius lol.
Heh...Finding base metals isn't a problem when your reagents and catalysts all run out first in mad science experiments.
He literally has hundreds of videos on exactly that. Metals from dirt, gunpowder from his own piss, actual mining, farming, numerous ways of fertilizing dead soils, including simulation of mars and regolith fertilization with human pool. What the hell do you want more?

I don’t understand most of what you say on the chemistry side of things but I still very much enjoy your videos. I wish I had taken a course in life similar to you. This stuff is super fascinating and it’s mind blowing the things you can accomplish with the right skills and knowledge.
After seeing what was left in the crucible, I worried the extraction wasn't the best. But seeing the vigorous bubbling the second it hit water... Music to my ears

Just now I watched only 3 videos of yours consecutively (this being the fourth), and you've immediately made a subscriber out of me. I know I should get over myself, but I find it hard to watch many chemist youtubers because their setups and methods involve nice, sparkly equipment and lab-specific feedstock, and their explanations are highly reflective of textbook educations, and unfortunately, much of it just isn't available to me, or (and this is the part I need to get over) just doesn't vibe with my cheap, kinda dirty, mostly-internet-educated way of doing things. You, on the other hand, strike me as an idealized version of what I've got going on- self-reliant, MacGyver-level resourceful, utilizing more generally available chemicals, relying on an encyclopedia of curated handy information between your ears. I have a new role model.

12:52 A hint for using magnets when picking up random powders. Put a small sheet of paper under the magnet so the stuff sticks to the paper. To clean the magnet just move it away from the paper and all the stuff will drop off leaving the magnet clean.
Codys next video is about demagnetise those magnets to remove the iron dust.

A Dixie cup works great for that. Drop the magnet in and then move the cup over the area. Then just hold the cup over the trash and pull the magnet out.

Not me. That would ultimately just come down to who has the best equipment. Plus, science is better when it is collaborative rather than competitive, like when NurdRage and others were trying to find the best way to produce sodium metal. And I love the full spectrum from NileRed's fancy lab to PoorMans Chemist's outdoor lab.

Lately I've been getting into arguments with people about how calcium is a metal. "Calcium is not a metal, it's a mineral" they say. I've tried to explain the periodic table to said people but they just don't listen.

I must admit, when I saw this video pop up in my subscriptions, I was like, "Wait, what? Didn't I already see this video go by?" only to realize the one I'd seen before was Extractions&Ire, and the new one was you. I'm guessing that if one is a chemistry RUclipsr, extracting calcium from bones for Hallowe'en is, like, an obvious, low-hanging fruit kinda deal. Or at least _was,_ now that it's been done twice. ❤

From one chemist in Australia, to another - nice reaction processes with available equipment. Drove past a place called Cinnabar where Hg was distilled from the mineral to assist in Au recovery in our early gold processing chemistry sets.
Phosphorous from bones would be more interesting/more challenging, at least the guys over at sciencemadness had considerable trouble doing that
