I got kinda mad when he said people were reporting him for making pipe bombs.. How damaged does a person have to be to report Cody like that!?!? Like WTF!?
If the ATF is worth a damn they would have watched all his videos, or at least some of them, and they would see that he's not some extremist weirdo. However, white men aren't given a fair shake these days. I assume the ATF has to treat any report as very serious, so I don't blame them. The people who reported Cody should be investigated for wasting people's time.
That's what I wanted to say! I don't like the idea of adding aluminum to help get aluminum, haha. Though it seems it may not have affected the end amount of aluminum, it still seems cheaty to me too :p
I'm not a chemist but AFAIK fluorine bonds are generally very strong and hard to break. Since the aluminium in cryolite is surrounded by fluorine atoms, I think you'd have to put in a lot of energy in order to get the aluminium out of the cryolite. Also Cody said that the cryolite is not consumed in the process and can be reclaimed.
Not cheaty at all. The cryolite doesn't really break down in the process he used, which is a small scale version of the Hall-Heroult process. This process is one of the most common used to extract aluminum metal from Al2O3.
It's 2017 and he could still make himself rich if he wanted to. Hell he will likely end up doing it anyway as a byproduct of screwing around with science stuff on the internet for fun.
Next Episode Cody makes Iron Oxide and makes thermite... for reasons. Breaking Bad: Next Generation "Cobalt Cody" Has taken back the streets, brought back the Blue, and is determined to fight back against the growing threat of Demonitization with nothing but cold hard science.

I too hail from the land of Utah, and your pronunciation of 'lum'num is spot on.
Well written and presented episode Cody! It’s cool to see how your professionalism continues to grow. After watching this video I totally envisioned you hosting a show on NatGeo or some other science channel. Good work!
I got kinda mad when he said people were reporting him for making pipe bombs.. How damaged does a person have to be to report Cody like that!?!? Like WTF!?
Depends on how many of his pipe bombs succeeded in injuring them
HipposHateWater
xD
If the ATF is worth a damn they would have watched all his videos, or at least some of them, and they would see that he's not some extremist weirdo. However, white men aren't given a fair shake these days. I assume the ATF has to treat any report as very serious, so I don't blame them. The people who reported Cody should be investigated for wasting people's time.
i found it funny, because even if he wanted to make some pipe bombs or something his property is so huge no one would notice lol
Eion, don't talk like that, they were Kangz n shiet.
I love the safety protocol.Excellent work.
notification squad! love your channel, cody! :D
It seems cheaty to use aluminum (in the cryolite) to make aluminum. How do you know you weren't just getting the aluminum out of the cryolite?
by the ammount he its getting out, and also because there would be lots of iron contamination.
That's what I wanted to say! I don't like the idea of adding aluminum to help get aluminum, haha. Though it seems it may not have affected the end amount of aluminum, it still seems cheaty to me too :p
There is no iron in cryolite.
This process is one of the most common used to extract aluminum metal from Al2O3.
i could watch these videos for hours. you have the bob ross personality that's really calming
If this were the 1700's you could make yourself rich.
It's 2017 and he could still make himself rich if he wanted to. Hell he will likely end up doing it anyway as a byproduct of screwing around with science stuff on the internet for fun.
richhagenchicago well we didn't have a lot of these technologies in the 1700s.
richhagenchicago No electrolysis in the 1700s.
Or Napoleons best friend
Richard's Workshop or get stoned from being a witch... I'm joking I know they didn't do that in the 1700's.
10:25 And that's how they make Mountain Dew. :)
.༼ಠఎಠ༽

John Aldred high in minerals
That's where the fizziness comes from, and they great tastes ;D
No wonder they say it kills sperm count.
11:40 And that's how they make mashed potatoes :)
man the fact that you use dirt from you back yard is just insane awesome
Cody is making a mess in this one lol
Next Episode Cody makes Iron Oxide and makes thermite... for reasons.
Breaking Bad: Next Generation
"Cobalt Cody" Has taken back the streets, brought back the Blue, and is determined to fight back against the growing threat of Demonitization with nothing but cold hard science.
Your experiments are great, really creative and entertaining, but your comprehensive explanation of the underlying theory of what you're doing is what takes the prize. This video was awesome. The scenery you were able to choose to do the recording was a great way to illustrate the theory.
refine pure uranium from a cat plz
Why so low ?
i would have some pretty big questions about what that cat was eating if someone ever did that.
joke
you
Butter me up
well considering that cat shit smells worse than any other substance on the planet, I suggest refining it from a dog instead.

Classic humor embedded with an incredible amount of knowledge. Thank you for a great presentation, Sir.
Cody ive always wondered what ur day job is( or was) for you to own so much land
NOT SO PRO GAMING I believe it is his families land. He's mentioned a few times that his grandpa (maybe great?) bought the land and built a few mines on it, and it's just been passed down.
oh right thanks
his parents are farmers/ranchers
Wait why are people reporting him to the atf?
Alex Coutinho wat
I think it's because his neighbors think his pressure tubes are pipe bombs
Wow. I just watched someone conquor the earth itself while casually explaining the process. Thank you.
I'm early with very bad data please reply Cody it would make my day :) I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Hi!
★ TazerYT ★ lol he actually replied
Cody'sLab yo
Cody'sLab thank you so much I've learned so much from your videos and I appreciate that greatly

i miss you man. rest in peace. loved your enthusiasm. You inspired me a lot!
This tells me: Recycle your aluminum cans. It's a lot more effiicient to get aluminum from cans.
aluminum is the most recyclable metal in the world!
I would say lead
Aluminum is just as brain damaging as Lead and I wouldnt put either of those anywhere near my food. They are amazing in other uses though.
Lead is used for roofing and in solder.
@My middle name is regret you're just ignorant then
What do you estimate the efficiency was from this?
ets see 1/10th of a gram from about a kilogram of ore that has 38% by weight aluminum so about .02%
Wow! Just, absolutely blown away! To produce aluminium, at home, outside, in the snow, on a lump of cast iron using the Bayer process!
Seeing that shiny ball of aluminium popping out of the set cryolite had me squealing Cody!
That was one hell of a project! Masterfully done!
Nice one mate! ☮️😎
(Now, at $2,405.15 per ton... 🤔)
