    I love Calvin’s awkwardness during these difficult crawls. This is a crawl, right? Because they can’t stand up and hike at any point. I love Jacob’s curiosity and innocence like saying “I don’t even know what pet peeve means” and then Calvin explains without making himself seem smart or Jacob seem dumb. Great people. Good content. I hope this channel grows big enough to change their family’s lives! Calvin, you deserve it.

      @@EvenDarkerI think that is such an awesome hook, or motto, or whatever it's called. It has both mystique and a draw to it. In terms of marketing and stuff it's one of the best I've seen on all of youtube!- not that a random commenter from Ohio's opinion matters, but still, seriously, its really good. I'm not sure if there's a merch store, but I can definitely see shirts with that on it selling- I'd buy one lol

      @@JstPF-93similar situation here. I just don't have the funds to do the things I want to do but I'm working on it. And I'm way too big and not in good enough shape to do something like this although there are caverns and caves close to where I live in Tennessee but I'm working on things. I've been in recovery for about 7 years and was an addict for 5 or 6 years been on Suboxone this whole time. Also something I want to work towards not needing at some point. I'll always use it as long as I feel I need to though but I definitely need to get in good shape and get myself in a good position in life before I'm ready to try to get off of it. Still tremendously better than being in addiction but it is still a hindrance.

    I hope to see some videos where you show the maps you draw of the caves Id be really interested to see the result of the work afterwords I think thats pretty neat that you have the ability to map it out. Wait you have your ability to scan from your phone? I have no idea about how lidar works.

    • @EvenDarker
      @EvenDarker  Год назад

      I show most of the maps that I make. Either on this page or the main page. At the end of the video I almost always show the map.
      I use a 3D modeling app which works pretty good. I back up the measurements with a laser so the distances are accurate but for small caves the 3D modeler is very effective. And I transfer it to 2D to make a map. Most of the apps are new technology but they work pretty good.
      Lidar is just an active laser scan. It's like using a laser to take pictures.

    These guys are crazy going into these holes what about if for some reason a big rock falls and trapped them inside. I wonder if people previously went in that one. If starts raining and water flooding the hole. God bless them because they are doing what they love to do. I see on the tunnel walls like cracks, do you all see the lines. At least I hope they told someone where they were going if they didn’t return. Every time he’s like breaking rocks is going to make the tunnel collapse

    How do you manage if you get leg cramps when you can't straighten your legs out?

    • @EvenDarker
      @EvenDarker  Год назад

      I used to get leg cramps quite a bit. I started working my legs more at the gym and that pretty much eliminated it. Gotta keep those muscles in use.
      cramping often comes from weakness. Lack of hydration lack of active proper nutrients. So if you eat well and exercise well, it can be less of a problem.

    Interesting philosophy here too. You got it backwards though. It's not the fact that the caves are often body sized that is key, it's that humans are cave sized! We evolved as cave dwellers. Of course we fit caves, it's not the caves that fit us!
    The environment doesn't foot animals, animals evolve to fit the environment.

    • @EvenDarker
      @EvenDarker  Год назад +1

      Animals are the environment.
      As for the direct correlation between caves being Fit for humans I would agree that we simply only go in caves that we fit. So it only seems like caves are always human size.
      But as a general philosophy as to what has to compromise for the other I'd say there's some fair play between everybody compromising. We could say water must fit the bowl. But the bowl was made for the water. They have a relationship. Their purpose is interconnected.

    I can ALMOST fathom the appeal of it. Hes said it in another video but you must remain in the moment at all times. Theres no time to to question the past or worry of the future, you cant just raise the white flag and say you quit. You must put everything you have into each inch, each millimeter, from both body and mind. The parts of the brain that arent focused on that simple message must be a gigantic mass of conscious fortitude to not panic and remain calm. There must be a certain serenity to it all...
    I mean if you get stuck you'll have pleeenty of time to regret your life decisions..
    I don't think the going in would get me, but the crawling through all that and then having to turn around and retrace your steps? Especially when its a bunch of tight long squeezes and rock climbing. Id be afraid of running out of energy or having to defecate or urinate.
