I have owned a TG6 for a while now and I’m still finding features on it by just pushing and holding different buttons on in different modes that I didn’t see in the manual. Thanks for the great review, good to see a gentleman impeccably turned out too! Nice cuff links 😉
I'd never have considered this camera as something for me, but your review has given me hope. There haven't been any compelling new small cameras in years. This looks like it could actually be a lot of fun and will fit into my habit of throwing my everyday camera into my messenger bag with my keys and phone. I especially liked the gritty look of the flash shot. OM.
I know exactly what you mean - I felt the same. But once you fully embrace what it is at its core, it is actually very hard to put it down or leave it at home. The trick is to work with it, not against it - then it is spectacular. Also, I appreciate that you have to work a bit more for some shots than with the OM-1, which is so good that you cannot really mess up. It really is an everyday companion, from parties to hiking, it is really fun. Thanks for the flash shot feedback, btw!
I bought the tg-7 in september. It tok a while to get used to handle the small buttons, but I bought the wireless remote controll at the same time and it works really good now when it's cold and you have bloves on. The different modes are fun to test and the camera is always in my pocket so I don't forget to bring it whith me on my dog walks. Your tutorials have been a good help when learning to use this camera. Thank you! 🙂
Thank you very much for the feedback and for sharing your experiences! It is great to hear that my videos have proven useful so far. I'll try to keep interesting content coming. Yes, the buttons are quite small, and using the trigger for those scenarios is certainly a good tip. Haven't thought of that yet! Thanks 🙏
I am thinking of buying this camera as an edc for my purse, even though its "rugged", i have a toddler who will want to use it which might be fun and i wont have to worry. Do you think the pictures are okay for basic candid shots of family/friends while you are out in everyday life?
@ByeByePeachPie absolutely - that is exactly what I'm using it for most of the time. Take a look at my other videos - there is a lot more information that might help you!
@@ByeByePeachPie I have watched all of Tomas videos and that's a really good help to understand hov to use this camera. I shoot whit the OM1 normally and this camera is a perfect complement. Thomas, thank you for the in-depth guide. I was seriously looking to purchase the TG-7 but then came across a super deal on a TG-6. I went ahead and purchased a few accessories.

Yes, I utilized my TG-5 in very roughly conditons, on boats or mountains, and I enjoied its strenghts. Ok, it isn't like new now, but it works still well. After your ideas, I am using TG-5 more often, as second or even third camera during my activities. Sergio from Milano

Thank you Catriona for your comment. As I wrote, I utilized TG-5 quite exclusively as diving equipment but, after Thomas' detailed study about TG functionality, I started to use this little camera as walk companion visiting Italian towns. I'd say it is excellent for dental photography, especially with the FD-1 flash diffuser and/or the LG-1 light guide. If you want the best possible setup and budget is of no concern, I recommend an OM-1 with dedicated macro flash and M.Zuiko macro lenses. If you need specific details, send me an email 📨. Hope this helps, best Thomas 📸
Thank you! I used this guide for an upcoming vacation; my right hand shakes, and I had been unable to find any info in the remote until I found this. Your comparison photos are handy as well; I got a polarization lens.
Hello Thomas. Thank you for this video. I bought the TG-7 following your review, as well as some of the accessories referred to in this video, and your expert guide (because why not), but I sincerely struggle to get any super macro shot sharp, even with the Light Guide LG-1. I wish you would either do a video, or expand your guide, on how one should use the camera, and under which settings, to get the best results, because I find it quite frustrating at the moment. Thank you for all the hard work, cheers!
Hello there! It can be a bit tough with the LG-1 indeed. My recommendation is to set the ISO manually and use A mode. By doing so, you can force the TG to use a faster shutter speed. My recommendation is to ensure at least a shutter speed conforming to the 35mm equivalent reciprocal rule. E.g. at the widest end 24mm means at least 1/30 as a shutter speed. In super macro situations, 1/60 or 1/125 is even better, depending on how stable you can hold the camera. I'm indeed planning on doing a Macro Expert Guide video, where I will talk about these things. Hope this helps, and thanks for purchasing the guide! Best, Thomas

It’s really interesting that om systems flog a ‘functional camera’ with a ring that serves no function other than to be replaced with something that costs additional funds! Far better, imho, to include the cla to1 and a lens cap in the initial purchase cost.
Well, the bayonet has to be covered somehow, it would not look very nice cosmetically. I think given the low price point of the camera, the accessories would probably be a bit much to ask for - but you are right, it would be great to get them right away!
Tg5 was my first camera. I ruined my tg5 by keeping it in my bag with coins and other garbage on a 1 month vacation thinking its "tough" it was indeed tough but not the lens. Thought about getting it repaired but ended up selling it as broken

Hello! I recently bought the TG7. I have the LB-T01 LENS BARRIER attached to it and forgot to bring the original ring that came with the camera. Can I still use the camera underwater? I will just snorkel at maximum 1.2 meters more or less.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Yes, the ring is just for decoration and for protecting the bayonet. Happy snorkeling!
Thank you Thomas!
You don’t it again I have order one thanks love your channel sir.
Thank you very much, Sir! That is great to hear and I hope you enjoy the camera as much as I do. Best, Thomas 📸
Does the TG7 have a diopter adjustment?
No, because it has no viewfinder.
I’ve got a TG5 and the difference is minimal, I won’t be upgrading until there’s a substantial advantage.
Cool
It’s really interesting that om systems flog a ‘functional camera’ with a ring that serves no function other than to be replaced with something that costs additional funds!
Far better, imho, to include the cla to1
and a lens cap in the initial purchase cost.
Ah, I'm sorry to hear that!
is this applied to TG3 ?
recently someone gave me the tg3 model.
I recommend checking the manual to see which accessories are compatible with the TG-3 as well. Best, Thomas 📸
Hello 👋🏻! Can it work with a wireless remote that isn't Olympus? Ty.
I would recommend using the RM-WR1
Thomas, How do you connect the RM-WR1 to a TG6? Can't find any directions. Thanks for your help!
@barrybryant5741 that is unfortunately not possible, the RM-WR1 only works with the TG-7. Best, Thomas
what size are the filters in mm please?
40.5
Thanks for the awesome information
Most welcome, great to read!
Thanks!
Thank you very much for your generous support and many comments. Yours, Thomas 📸
Can you please post your Amazon affiliate links for us to buy this stuff? Thank you
Thank you - but unfortunately I'm currently I'm not an Amazon affiliate. Best, Thomas 📸
Educated guess is the standard term as a decision pertains to the domain of an expert which is for viewers in general not the case.
That is a very thoughtful comment indeed!
