Excellent review mate ! I was looking at a point and shoot to take with me mountain biking, cycling, kayaking, fishing and 4x4 adventures. This ticks so many boxes. Had it around 3 weeks and taken already over 1000 photos and I love it. Photos are surprisingly sharp, and even sports photography is good with the 20fps. The attachments are also great. I no longer stress about damaging my main camera out on the trails or on my bike. 11/10 for me
Thank you. Fully agree with you. I have one and yes it's quality isn't great. It's a fun give to kids camera. I have had great shots. Especially the macro under water. Think the macro is the best

it is totally a camera to have fun with! I hope you are enjoy using it. Where in Norway are you from? I'd love to visit again and go a bit more north than Bergen
100% spot on analysis. I love mine as an everyday carry. It will never beat its big brother pro DSLR and mirrorless cameras, but it can go places those others can't go. And it fits in my pocket! The macro features are amazing! I'm a person who prefers cheap cellphones since they usually break after a few years of use. So I don't rely on my phone for good photos. This camera will last a lifetime IMO and it will take pictures that I would normally not get. The image quality is very good for the price and the other features of the camera (toughness and size). I like the silicone jacket and the light guide accessories. There is a twisting lens cover that OM sells, but the JCC knockoff does the same thing and is MUCH cheaper.
Your video review was spot on, and I completely agree with your assessment that the AF system is overly simple and almost very basic. Surprisingly, all the images I captured using the TG-7 were rejected by Adobe Market. Interestingly, shots taken with an iPhone were accepted without issue. OM System must consider upgrading the sensor, incorporating a hi-res mode, and rectifying the Auto Focus system. Addressing these improvements could justify the price tag and significantly enhance satisfaction for OM shooters.
Hi can you please explain what you mean by the photos being rejected by Adobe Market? I use a dslr and edit mostly on Lightroom but was thinking of getting this digital camera. Is it not possible to edit raw images taken on the TG-7 using Lightroom or any other Adobe software?
Great video review, thanks. I would like to quickly mention that a shorter focal length lens is required for underwater photography because water is a lot denser than air, so light is bent less when it travels from water to glass, than it would be from air to glass. It compensates for this difference. 🙂
Great video! I just bought one of these (in red) for some upcoming trips where we will be in watery, cold environments. I'll still take my regular mirrorless camera to use where I don't have to worry about it, but this should be great for the adventure part of our trip. Thanks!!
I have a tg6 and I bought it for exactly what you said! First off I got a great deal on one but I also have an older phone so it’s still better than my phone camera! It’s my all around camera to take on trips that doesn’t take of much space and no matter what kind of photography I want to do it will do it! I like to disconnect from my phone when I’m in a photography mood. I don’t get Instagram notifications on my tg6 it is only letting me capture the moment and that’s what I like! I want a mirrorless but the more I carry this tg6 around I’m worried that I won’t end up having anything much bigger with me when I go out!
Great review! It's like having a friend tell you what they thought of the camera, out and about in the real world. I was thinking of this one, for a once in a lifetime trip to Ireland, and wanted something a bit tough. This review really helped.
"It is the camera to take with you and have fun with" + "Great memory capture camera" That's all I need to know). I'm not an avid traveler or pro photographer, but sometimes I wish I have something better and more flexible then my phone to make city and countryside snapshots. And it seems I found what I was looking for. Thank you sir!
Superb review! Even if someone watches the review and decides that this camera isn’t a good fit for them, the review is just as successful because it helps reviewers make decisions about what camera path they feel is best for them. This can also be a good camera for employees who might be in a mud hole or working for a municipal entity where they need photos of underground utilities or plumbing where it is wet and dirty and definitely a place where you wouldn’t want to take a DSLR. Taking 4 wheelers into sand dunes could be a good use for this camera as well since sand can cause problems for non-sealed cameras. I enjoyed this review very much. I do construction type work. Thus far my phone has survived for photo and video but I have to be very careful with my phone. 😊 I do take photos for clients on a regular basis to show progress updates so this weather & water sealed camera is definitely of interest even though the price probably matches the performance. Higher outdoor performance = higher price so that is expected. 😊👍
Thanks. Great review. I've used the TG-3 for 10 years for medical photography, 90% is macro photography. Beginner level user. I use the LG-1 LED Light Guide and quite happy. Do you think the FD-1 Flash Diffuser might be better? Sadly with WIfi only connects to a phone, does not have FTP file transfer protocol to send to a network. If you know any macro camera with FTP wifi please let me know.
Good, very good and very interesting. Contrary to the official presentation, I learn here that there is no manual mode. At 4'40", you say that there's no mode dedicated to speed control; at 15'12", you say that this camera is good for water sports, biking and so on. So how can we be sure the image won't be blurry? How do we reconcile the absence of speed control with fast subjects? Thank you.
there is no full M manual mode but there is auto, aperture and shutter priority modes. You can control it to get fast shutter speeds captures but not fully manually like with bigger cameras
I bought this and sent it back, I use it for macro stuff and the picture isn't any better than tough-4 which ist a surprise when they use the same 12m sensor and upscale it to 4k.
Great review, Pav. Thank you for giving more attention to point and shoots. It was refreshing even though I'm sure you filmed majority of this video with your S5 ii(x). Kit 20-60 lens? The TG7 is a first-rate macro camera. You said it: "a camera to have fun with." I'm also sure if you put the files into DXO, a lot of the problems with noise would be eliminated.
Thank you very much! This was filmed with Sony a7IV and new budget friendly Viltrox 20mm f2.8 lens, only because I'm reviewing it now and didn't have room for two cameras when travelling. Otherwise it would be S5IIx
Like the old point and shoots, like the great Canon 310 HS, dust on the lens can get sucked back into the camera when the lens retracts. I highly recommend a non lint sleeve in your pocket. You can't get the dust off the sensor. Easiest way to see it is to shoot the sky in full zoom.
I used to bring my DSLR for traveling, but I was always stressed about not breaking it, and some places wouldn't allow it. I love the TG-7 for the convenience. It won't take the same photos as the DSLR but I can record my travel without worrying.
Same. I use my M50 as my main camera but use my TG-7 for mountain biking, road cycling, kayaking and camping and I know it will take a beating. Photo quality is very good, better than my phone. Won't match my M50 (especially bokeh) but it's a great quality camera that produces beautiful images and won't fall apart in the elements
Great review! I wonder how the TG-7 compared to an older iPhone or Google Pixel with the same price point, because of the same sensor size. It would be interesting.
Hmm..could this replace an action camera? Well maybe not if moving-and need video but otherwise perhaps and certainly for photos. Always enjoy your reviews!

@@PavSZ Thanks for your feedback. Tell me, does the TG-7 have an advantage over the Iphone 13 pro max only in shock resistance and moisture resistance???
An iPhone is primarily a phone. Even when you shoot in RAW on an iPhone it isn't as flexible in post. Also, it costs over 3 times this camera. I'd rather a cheap phone and a proper camera like this. Manual focus is much better on this camera, is very good at action and sports with 20fps and pre-capture. After over 40 yrs of Oly ownership & use, this is the 1st time that i am reconsidering my loyalty.
