"The scapegoat being the most sensitive person in the family", that really resonated with me. Acting out the anger and the shame is something I've always done and everything is coming together it feels. Deep gratitude for this series and the uploading! ❤

"... functionality is dealing. . . If you're afraid it needs to be dealt with" Bradshaw says. As an adult in recovery from the wounds of childhood, I've been learning how to first notice, listen and then take action when my child self is in freaked-out. I am learning to practice attunement to my inner experiences (often just below the level of my consciousness), and then acknowledge without judging: "that was really scary" rather than dismissing the child's fear because my adult-self judges the experience to be relatively minor or manageable. Noticing that I'm feeling scared, terrified even, has taken a lot of time and care, as I was so used to tuning out and suppressing my feelings/ child self, and because my adult self has been so intent on 'overcoming' and 'being strong and capable', that I did not want to feel my vulnerable parts. But if I don't feel it, I can't take action on behalf of my scared child, and so I am learning how to be 'functional by dealing' with what scares me

"codependency is caring for someone at the expense of yourself". . . "this is the way that I learned to matter" and "believing that you don't matter unless you're a super-achiever." Yet in truth, "I cannot love you if I don't love me". . . and, "it is not too late to have your own life". You don't have your own life when you're in one of these roles (which take away our authentic self) of lost child, super-achiever, "that basically are there to keep the family system together."
"underneath the role are your real feelings, is your authentic self, is your inner child". "it was like if I wasn't taking care of people I don't matter; I have to do this!" "an addiction is a dysfunctional relationship." "to be in a rigid family role is psychological death." These are some of the nougats from this lecture that I hope to internalize and take with me.

Shiva nataraj is the dancing yogi, mystic, ascetic, householder, non-conformist god who resides in the Himalayas, who taught the people the gift of yoga, and whose love-making was legendary. Now that is a god that Nietzsche could have admired!
