I was a serious metal head back in highschool. This was back in the late 80s, early 90s. I hated most of the "popular" trash on the radio. I like my music hard, fast, dirty and raw. But I think it is impossible to not love Ray Charles. The man is simply incredible. He makes you feel and believe everything he sings. And this duet with Willie is pure class. An incredible song, serious emotion, beautiful music and you can see the love and respect these two legends have for each other. It does not get any better than this.
Willie Nelson has some great songs. Here are a few more you should listen to if you haven't yet: - She's gone - Always on my Mind - A Womans Love - It gets easier
Man Ray Charles was one of the best I'll turn 52 this year and still listen to him all the time. Willie Nelson has got that surtin kind of voice you want forget. And together it magic
I have one for all us Ray Charles fans, how about the cameo he did on 'We Are The World'...he may have just set himself apart on it even amongst all those stars.
That's music royalty right there. Two absolute legends. Willie Nelson has been a leading country singer since the early 1960s, and is still going. Ray Charles basically invented soul by combining blues with gospel music, but he could sing the phone book and it'd still be worth hearing. The first soul hit was Charles's "What'd I Say", which, 60 years later, is still as hot as it gets. You should watch the biopic "Ray", starring Jamie Foxx - a great depiction of his life and music.

Ray Charles could sing songs of just about any genre, give the song his own, unique twist, and make it his own. And, Willie Nelson showed that he could slide into different genres, as well, when he released his album, "Stardust" (the title track is pure Willie Nelson, and, amazing). Great reaction to a pair of true musical legends!
Ray Charles is a legend. Willie is a cool guy. When he played at Mountaineer Casino, he invited all my friends who worked there to drink some whiskey and have a toke.
This us a beautiful song. They blended together so well. Ray Charles is a soul sooner and had so many hits. Georgia on my mind is another beautiful song he does.
Willie!!! RAY!!! Wow! Willie had a huge country following. For him to be at a piano with a soul legend like Ray was no small thing. Young country fans watching Willie hanging with a Southern Black man was a great thing. At the same time, Ray was letting young soul fans know Country people are alright. The world could use a whole lot of this right now.
Saw Ray Charles live at the Princess Theatre in Decatur, Al. 1992. He was doing a benefit concert for Alabama A&M U. It was a lifelong dream come true. It rates as one of four most BEAUTIFUL times in my life. The other 3 were the births of my girls.

Ray Charles was my grandfather's favorite so I grew up listening to every Ray Charles LP on his old stereo. A great song to listen/react to is You Don't Know Me- he released it in the 1960s and white people all thought it was a love song and it was #1.
