Miss Patti!! That girl can GO OFF!!! Listen to any of her live performances. Over the rainbow is a good one. I also love her 80's hit, New Attitude. THAT woman has SOUL!! She can make you FEEL her songs!
The 80’s was the decade of great duets. Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers, Stevie Nicks & Don Henley, Patti Austin & James Ingram, Phil Collins & Phillip Bailey, and check out a trio hit with Kim Carnes, Kenny Rogers & James Ingram “What About Me”
It was written and produced by Burt Bacharach and his former wife Carole Bayer Sager and originally recorded by singer Dionne Warwick for inclusion on her album (1985). Eventually recorded by LaBelle and McDonald for her eighth studio album (1986),
I have had the pleasure of seeing Patty Labelle sing in person Twice and her voice is even more powerful in person and sometimes she doesn't even need the microphone
I love how each one is reined in and little by little lets loose their powerful voices. I think when she throws her arms open, it is so expressive. I love the overlaps in the video halves, where she crumples the paper and then he picks it up and where the same boxes are stacked on the floor in both halves
Anita Baker. You want a voice you can get lost in???? Then Anita Baker is your lady. I love Anita Baker! Sooooo smooth and soulful. Check out “Caught Up In The Rapture” & Sweet Love”!
Two suggestions: I don't know much. It is by Linda Ronstandt and Aaron Neville. So beautiful. The second is phil collins and marilyn martin and is called separate lives. Both are so good
This is one of my favorites! This song reminded me of the time when I was travelling from NC back to Baltimore with my family as a preteen listening to this song on my cassette player. Cherished! Memories! #80sforlife ❤
Patti Labelle has a powerhouse voice!! Not many songs can bring out her beautiful range. First time I heard her sing was at an awards show on tv. She sang “Amazing Grace” a cappella. No music whatsoever. Just her. It was awesome.
Let's be real here for a moment... Is anyone really surprised that this song is EPIC?!? I mean, you put together *TWO LEGENDS* with unsurpassed vocals-- What else could we get?
Great freakin song. JV u gotta do 'Woman In Love' by Barbra Streisand. Barry & Robin Gibb wrote it. i believe u did the song 'Guilty' off same album. 'What Kind Of Fool' is another off that album & Barry sings on it as well.
Patti Labelle is amazing and has an incredible range. I once saw a video of her singing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' live in NYC that blew me away. Also Patti and Luther Vandross Having Fun!
I used to play this all the time, now I’m divorced after 40 years of marriage and every word cuts like a knife and breaks my heart because I know this is my story, I thought I would love him forever but time changes everything and the love was gone and never came back I thought I could never survive on my own but I’m doing it, and I know my son will never forgive me but once the love has gone you become destructive .
It always feels SO good to hear Patti!!! Thank you. Trust me when I tell you - I ain't asking - you gotta play Patti and Joe Cocker singing You Are So Beautiful (live stage version) Puleeease
This was my break up song! I used to mime to it like Bridget Jones. We got back together, then it was 'Reunited' by Peaches and Herb. We have been married 21 years, but if it ever comes on the radio - I always give my husband a dirty look... x
That was a funny story about Patti LaBelle and her pies. I had forgotten that she had them on the market. Besides being a great singe and entertainer, she has always had the reputation of being a phenomenal cook.
❤❤❤❤❤ them both! I saw Patti in concert back in 1986 when her song There's A Winner In You was out. I was in the 10th row and she brought a 10 year old girl in a wheel chair on stage who was in the first row. She wrapped the girl in a fur coat and sang the song face to face with her. The whole place was crying (I am now writing this) and a standing ovation for 5 mins after she finished. That little girl had the biggest smile I ever saw...that's when I fell in love with Patti forever! One of THE classiest people in the business! ❤ U Patti
MY DUDE ! If you love PATTI, you must check out LABELLE " Lady Marmalade " Plus, they wore crazy costumes. Maybe you can find a Soul Train performance.......... PEACE !
I never noticed it before; but she and Dolly Parton have similar singing styles. You should try Aretha Franklin and George Michael I knew you were waiting
I remember recommending this song to you, I knew you would love it. It always gives me the chills, their voices blend so perfectly together. They sound as if they have been through a split up yet they had never met and each recorded their parts in different places. I have loved this since I first heard it and always will, thank you so much for playing it sweetheart, I think this is my favourite duet. God bless you love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK
TWO LEGENDS ON A BEAUTIFUL SONG.
FUN FACT: "On My Own" is ranked #11 on Billboard's list of the Greatest Duets Of All Time.
#1 is "Endless Love" by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie.

Toto - I'll Be Over You with Michael McDonald
Check out Josh Groban and Brian McKnight- "Bridge Over Troubled Water"

They'd never met when they recorded this song. Each sang their part in different places. They met for the first time at the music awards that year.
Wow!!
It's incredible how such great chemistry can come out of these very separate recordings.
@@robdaviesprogm Both are unbelievably talented. People with less probably couldn't have pulled it off.
