I like the trio of Legends. "A song for you" with Leon Russell; Willie Nelson; and Ray Charles. Done for Willie's 70th birthday. Reportedly not long before this was recorded Willie found out that Ray was ill. You can see the years of friendships, respect, and relationships between them. There are better technical musical versions in their younger years - all of these musicians are aging - but this one has the 'feels'.

Oh I have to suggest "Highwayman" by The Highwaymen. The members are country music royalty... Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash. I remember when they came together and the results speak for itself.

Willie is an Icon, and he's a fantastic songwriter and singer. But Ray Charles is a World-Changing Singer who changed music and created a genre.
Ray Charles is SOUL like James Brown is FUNK. Willie is a giant in Country Music and a close friend of Rays, beloved by all. But Ray is THE MUSIC.
The Altar of the Sun is a large pyramid structure in Teotihuacan Mexico which dates back as far as 100ce. It is said to contain, deep within it's tunnels and chambers, a statue of Huehueteotl... the Aztec God of Fire.

I think Willie got the top heading here because it was his show that Ray was a guest performer on. I don't believe either man wrote this song either.Both Charles and Nelson were approached about the song at about the same time and it was suggested that they do a duet.Ray did release a solo version of it and Willie used to also sing a solo version on tours.

This song appeared on Ray's album Ray Charles and Friends. Surprisingly, as good as it is, it's not the best song on the album. He does duets with Merle Haggard, George Jones, Lacy J. Dalton, Ricky Scaggs, Johnny Cash, etc. Truly, one of the best albums I ever owned. You should definitely check it out.

Ray Charles came out with two albums in 1962 called (modern sounds in country and western music volume one and volume two) that went gold outside of the country music charts, lots of people outside of country music were wondering if he had lost his mind, haha!, but hey, great music is great music.
As you can see, he occasionally did country songs throughout the rest of his career, and they were damn good!😊

Ray Charles (Before Chuck Berry, Elvis, Little Richard, Big Mama Thornton, and Rosetta Thorp) there was Ray, inventing rock and roll from 1946-1952. Then perfecting soul, country, jazz, and pop.
I totally disagree I think Willie did more then just fine . The beauty of this song is how they both complemented each other.
A white legend and a black legend setting side by side, singing about 7 Spanish angels! You see the problem? These 2 singers are known around the world and here we hate on each other because of our skin color
