This was the 3rd time I saw The Darkness live (I was front row), and I can honestly say without a word of a lie, it was one of the best nights of my life. There's a photo somewhere of me bawling my eyes out as they hit the stage.
I remember walking past a tent at Download in 2015, thinking it looked busy for a tent. Then I thought to myself "that's some high singing, sounds like the Darkness." I popped my head in and there they were. Was an absolutely awesome set. Permission To Land was the first album I ever bought when I was about 9 (my dad was awesome) and I had it on repeat constantly. Was such a good day being able to see them live off chance.
I remember seeing the darkness support Def Leppard, just before Permission to land was released. They were simply incredible. Will always love these guys, and my baby will be brought up loving them too 🥰
It is deeply evocative that they have a mad, spindly Irish bassist with an Afro. No one can replace our beloved Phil Lynott, but it moves me that folk try, that that tradition is honoured.
Yes ! I thought that especially around 2003 when The Darkness played this track on Later Jools holland show . When Rap & RnB were becoming increasingly popular .
Can easily understand these guys being grateful to Def , Joe and the Band are a great bunch, loyalty and friendship is everything for them, so I imagine being onside with them is a great experience. 👍
Definitely one of my new favorite bands 4 sho man !! I just dont know how i missed these guy up until a few weeks ago ??? Id say the talant is up there with these guys $!!!! YET, I SEE THAT THEYRE WAY UNDERATED ????? ... Hope to see ,hear them live someday
Grathell Carias I wanna see them in concert too! I love the Darkness so much! Justin Hawkins is someone that inspires me to sing very well. I was inspired by his falsetto voice and it really helps me get my soprano vocals working well. He'll forever be one of my musical influences.
I definitely recommend it these guys are from my hometown I don't know them though although I have met them they signed my ticket but I lost it when I moved :(
Bands like this give dreamers a second chance at being that rock star , no matter if you let it go by years ago 4? Ever reason, heres your chance to go back and do it live 4 you and your dream making reality
i can't believe they are back together i love these guys ! i still have my original darkness t shirt i bought at hot topics back in 2004 !! hope to hear some new music from this great band
You guys are so so so so so good to this day you are my all time favourite band Christmas Time don’t let the bells end is one of my all time favourite Christmas hits
Alex Turner Probably because no camera man in the world can keep up with Justin when he's running about like a fruitcake. Cheetahs are fine, but a buzzing rocker.....no way! :P
+Alex Turner One of the (many) guitar players I've dated told me that NOT showing the solo being played makes it harder for another musician to copy. I'm not sure if that's true, then again, I'm now married to a different guitar player.
@HitsWithStyxx Alter Bridge with "Find the real" indeed! :D I met them all last year in Gothenburg, Sweden! Super musicians, super friendly guys. Total inspiration! :)
It was so awesome to see Justin healthy and back in form when these dudes came back together. A little sad now to listen to this and see how much his voice has degraded, but that's life, it has been 10 years.
The amount of videos I see people posting this is just insane. Apparently so many artists are one of the only artists who sound exactly the same as studio live 😂😂😂
Singer rock'n the 3 Musketeers look, didn't' catch on though. 1:18 if you wanna skip to the song. Singer rock'n the 3 Musketeers look, didn't' catch on though. Singer rock'n the 3 Musketeers look, didn't' catch on though.
Bands seem to have lost their purity. The Darkness still has it. I've just noticed that many bands have a guitar which you can't hear, and the song really consist of drum, bass and voacals - which cannot be produced live without a DJ.
Singer rock'n the 3 Musketeers look, didn't' catch on though. Talk about a stellar performance. Those vocals are 10/10 Rock is still alive!!!! Yes!!!!!!
These guy's are severely underrated!, Justin Hawkins's voice is fucking outstanding!
And guitar skills also!!!!
'severely underrated' is a refreshing change from the usual 'criminally'.
@@davidmatthews3131 I mean laws should be in place.😂😂😂

Weird flex.
i love these guys cause they bring back the feel of the 80's
Beg to differ, Kay -- They bring back the feel of the 70s!
A little bit Cheap Trick, a little bit Poison...
Absolute bliss.
I’ll be honest - they’re better than anything from the 80’s. The 70’s more like but with a definite post-Nirvana self-awareness and attitude.

Did you go to a festival without looking at the band scedule? Just wondering around, hoping to hit your favourite bands on random?
@@NiVoldiza it was a secret set, smart arse.
I wasn't expecting his voice to be so good live
IKR!!! After hearing the singer from Disturbed live I lost a lot of enjoyment of live shows
Word. They’re all serious musicians.
I remember seeing the darkness support Def Leppard, just before Permission to land was released. They were simply incredible. Will always love these guys, and my baby will be brought up loving them too 🥰
I just love watching him shred that solo at the end while skipping across the stage in a prison stripe unitard. Most metal ever \m/
uhh mate, justin is most definitely playing the solo, dan didn't even play the mid solo in this
@@TheCrashx The mid solo was played by Dan, watch his hands
Maintaining those notes for a whole show takes soooo much practice and vocal strength!
Talk about a stellar performance. Those vocals are 10/10
Bloody Hell!!! One of the best rock groups - EVER. That voice. That guitar! Thanks, Guys! Perhaps you know already...?
Love hearing the band express their gratitude for Def Leppard. And meaning it.
It is deeply evocative that they have a mad, spindly Irish bassist with an Afro. No one can replace our beloved Phil Lynott, but it moves me that folk try, that that tradition is honoured.
fuck, I need to see you live before I die!!!! You restored my faith that there are still some real musicians on this planet!!
*UPDATE*
I saw them live last week in Galway and Oh my fucking god it was amazing!!!
+candim4n 1337 they still tour love to see them live
Now I’m in this position. Next time they’re in the North America I’ll be catching a couple weeks of shows!

Got my respect! Amazing performance. Justin Hawkins is an amazing singer!
The Darkness should have been hugely successful, underrated!
100% Agree ! Unfortunately A Lot of the younger generation see this as Grandad & Grandmas' music .
This is the best rock and roll song of the past 30+ years, since "Rainbow in the Dark". And this version kills.
God, I really need to see them live!!!!!
They're on tour now with a new album!!! Find them & GOOOO!!

So good. Could have been the next Queen. Underrated.
my boyfriend gave me this song for valentinesday!!!! i know how hard it is to go from regular voice to falsetto. more power to ya xxxx
GOOOOOOOD his voice is so good live!
Thank you so much for coming back guys..Rock'n'roll missed you..me too!!!;)
I fuckin' love that 'stache. I'm inspired

Lead singer playing lead guitar!Everytime I watch this I smile ear to ear! Best male vocals in pop IMHO.
I've never been able to get this song out of my head..lol!
This could have been
Eric Forman - vocals
Steve Hyde - guitar
Fez - bass
Kelso - drums
I love the Darkness 😍😎
their like a cartoon of a hard rock band it's great
Loving it being played double time.
Justin's in full pirate mode here
Your return healed my depression.
What a great simple, sweet ,rock ballad.
Estamos en presencia de uno de los mejores grupos rock de la actualidad
brilliant performance guys!
Can't wait to see them at Download this year!!! A week to go! 🤟🤟
is really beautiful hear the crowd singing.
Queen + Suede + Metallica = The Darkness.

VH1 Classic lives ! , if only on RUclips and in our memories! Oh these wonderful festivals they would always play ! 🎸
O cara ainda canta muito!!!
Such an awesome and fun song to play on guitar. And also singing along is satisfying :) So cool.
Superbe voix !!!!!!! J’adore
Hooray, Hooray, The Darkness are here to stay.
I was front row at that stage all day, I saw plenty of bands and met plenty of people. Thanks for your concern though.
Ahhh love it......and that's the most AWESOME tash I've ever seen!
WHAT A PERFORMANCE, but the camera work is terrible. Why is it always focussing on the rythm guitar???
Because the solos are patented? :P
Yes, the director seems completly ignorant of who is actually playing the soloes.
Alex Turner Probably because no camera man in the world can keep up with Justin when he's running about like a fruitcake. Cheetahs are fine, but a buzzing rocker.....no way! :P

I know, right? Annoying, considering I wanted to specifically see Justin's second guitar solo!
AWESOME !! RIP IT UP
It makes me happy to see I own that same bass guitar.
now that's a real singer right there son
Still say they are the best band playing today!
…and still 6 years later.
That was awesome
Alter Bridge in the background during the interview, veeeery niiiice!

Okay I need to know where I can watch the entire set... Good Lord I've been waiting for this day for years... New footage, on youtube...
BEST BAND LIVE - EVER
They're back! Yehaaah!
they are speedin' so hard live
Sounds better a little bit faster …and adrenaline tends to make you speed up live anyway
Pure old fashioned rock and roll. baby.
Out of the entire audience singing along there were probably only 2-3 who could hit those high notes.
YOU ROCK!!!
So awesome that only one word can describe it: Moustache
JEZZZZZ THEY HAVE CHANGED ALOT XD
He’s one of the few singers thst sound exactly the same studio and live

He's trying to mimic Freddie in my opinion. I think the drummer is the son of a Queen member as well.
John Keys Nobody can be as good as Freddie, he knows that too, I've watched an interview about it. But I sort of see what you mean.
But since when did Freddie grab a guitar and rock like THIS? 🤘🏻🤘🏻😍
Jack M yeah, Roofus Taylor is the son on Roger Taylor, both drummers of their respective bands.
SUPER :)
Oldschool. great

It's as if the sound engineer forgot that there was a rhythm guitar being played as well
Update: since the last comment I discovered I actually have hearing problems. Sorry, mister sound engineer.
