Unfortunately, when I'm living with my parents, I don't do anything proactive. When I lived alone, I felt the need to be proactive. I did my own bills, my own laundry, and went to the gym.
The issue is, I can't afford rent anywhere else. Their prices range from $800-$1,200, while I'm paying my parents $175/mo... What do you think is the better choice? I make only $1,800/mo. Half of that is on food.

Courtney: After your 10 - 12 hour shift go to the gym for an hour or so and then go home and fix a nutritious meal.
Also Courtney: Don't be boring, have hobbies and that make you interesting.
When? That first statement including drive time is all but the 8 hours I get to sleep. I even participate in hobbies (bodybuilding, latin dancing, martial arts, firearms training, hiking, and gaming) in the slim margin of time I have outside of work, the gym and food prep. There is no level of hoop jumping that will peel these harpies away from their Instagram & TikTok. I say let them be and just follow up in 10 years when they, like so many others end up crying in their car about the life they squandered.

I stick to my original comment above. Be as you are is meaningless. It says that "you are as you are today, and that is for ever". Change is the only constant. Learning enables change. So there is no be as you are as we are all constantly learning and chaging in the process. Change, whether driven by self or sometimes by external inoput (comments and even criticism), is always good as long as you analyze the input and do your best to correct things. I am fat, no amount of be as you are is going to change that, but the simple step of eating smaller portions will fix it. Should I get offended if someone calls me fat? I can be, but I usually say, yup I know it and you have keen observation (sort of a backhanded slap for calling me fat). Then I just move on to eating less. People are too senitive, just hear stuff and move on to doing what you need to do for your own betterment.

No. There's a bright line difference between being tough on yourself and being a masochist. The difference is that being tough on yourself means shaking the monkey off your back. That monkey being lazy and cowardly habits which you do to avoid the things you yourself know you want and/or need to do. Being a masochist is denying yourself what you want and/or need. So, literally, NOT doing the hard things equals being a masochist. You're welcome.

re: the hard things, it's about balance. If your job requires a bunch of physical labor, you need to be mindful about integrating intellectual activity into your free time. If your job requires a bunch of intellectual or emotional labor (ask anyone who works customer service how much emotional labor their job is), then you need to be more mindful about integrating physical activity into your free time. Per point number 1: I strongly recommend all men read “Effortless” by Greg McKeown. Yes, I said ‘read’ not ‘listen’. The capstone point of the book is that the most important decision in life is the one you make right now. It’s a pretty short read, and the follow up to ‘Essentialism’ which was another fantastic read.

I guess us average lookers have no choice BUT to do the hard things in life. It's only the good lookers of both genders who live life in easy mode.
They get higher raises, get promoted faster, get more dates, are generally more popular, and we are just scrambling - often unsuccessfully - to catch up.
Don't get me wrong - I am an effort guy. You're not gonna find me lacking. But it sucks when someone half as deserving as me who was born with better genes gets all the credit for simply existing, while I put in the time and get close to nothing in return.
And they don't seem to become uglier if they live life in easy mode - would have been nice if they did though :D

I guarantee that there are men's channel's that you watch where the guys running it are not the most handsome. Now ask yourself if that is the case for the top whymen's channels. Probably not. If Ryan was 250 lbs, do you still value her opinion, at least when it comes to topics of dating? Probably not. And I doubt this channel has the number of subscribers that it does. Don't take my word for it. Go look up the facts. The numbers speak for themselves.

    • @slylockfox85
      @slylockfox85 4 месяца назад +3

Also, attractive men don't live life on "easy mode." They live life on "easier mode." The experience is still not comparable to an average whyman. I worked many retail jobs where average looking whymen got promoted to middle-management jobs despite not being as hard working as other men. But the men are ultimately to blame because it's usually a combination of corporate culture (whymen quotas) and "limps" that are responsible for this.

Important things: 0:34 First Thing ÷ Never Doing Hard Things; 3:10 Second Thing ÷ Not Eating Enough Protein; 5:51 Third Thing ÷ Staying Indoors / Getting No Sunlight; 8:52 Fourth Thing ÷ Your Laundry Habits; 10:09 Fifth Thing ÷ The Wrong Glasses; 12:20 Sixth Thing ÷ Being Bored Or Boring; 15:10 Seventh Thing ÷ You Have Jump Scare Hands; 16:46 Eight Thing ÷ Poor Posture; and 18:27 to summarize all the told here.
Additional things would of been these things: Ninth Thing ÷ Keeping Our Place Very Poorly Arranged (not keeping it clean, and tidy); Tenth Thing ÷ Lack Of Self Confidence (but this can be also considered to first thing that you have told there Courtney, since it happens that someone is not working on their self confidence and also on self esteem).
What you have told there Courtney, it is all correct. I can add couple of things that you have told. When you told about too much exposure to sunlight, I agree it's not good too much to get exposure there. I've heard somewhere that when exposing too much to sunlight, that can bring us to get skin cancers. Also birthmark are very sensitive to too much sunlight as well (the doctors can correct me if I'm wrong). When you have told not eating enough proteins, it's not just that. It's not enough intake of vegetable fiber, and also fruits that are good for our health. As for glasses, the most important thing is function than form itself. I agree that right frame is suppose to chosen wisely, but I don't think that wearing glasses is ugly. I also wear glasses as needed (when I use PC, or when I drive car). The important thing that they are here for a functional purpose. Maybe you can do additional thing to your glasses. And that is that you ask the optician to make a protection layer for glasses so they can have a purpose of protection of eradiation when you use either PC or laptop or phone (since today's work are done by either computer's or either laptops).
The deeds and actions will say many things, either that you work on yourself, care on yourself, or perhaps showing or not showing interests in many things. Conclusion is: For doing many things you have to have faith, believe, desire, will, goal, and wish to fulfill many things. But mainly to fulfill yourself in a healthy way, either men, or women. All of these thing we are doing cause of ourselves and if we are good to ourselves, even the people will want to be with us. And that's the whole thing.

The left half of his face looked like melted ice-cream. Look up recent pictures of Robert Redford if you need any motivation to protect your face from the sun. By far a lighter face looks better then a face so droopy you can't recognize yourself. Skin color tone is just a mater of taste anyway. It's no indicator of health.

I'm sure good genetics plays a role, but I took what I was gifted with & ran with it. It's second-nature for me to do all this stuff. I was carded at a beer booth at a festival last night. The girl was blown away when she saw my Birthdate on my license. In two weeks I'll be 64 yrs. old. Listen to Courtney guys, the details make the difference between average or exceptional.💫

I will confess that I have been very sedentary lately, but it isn't necessarily laziness. I'm a full time work from home software engineer and I frequently work late. Then when I get off of work I'm doing solo game development basically as a second job. And I'm doing EVERYTHING; 3D modeling and animation, programming and scripting, writing, design and documentation, even learning to play the piano in conjunction with vocaloid and DAW software so I can synthesize the game's music tracks. I play games online with friends and family every so often, but indie game development has become somewhat all-consuming. I find myself having food delivered way more often than I should because cooking or going out to get something eats my already extremely limited time. I'm trying to find a balance so I can at least start going to the gym and archery and taichi regularly again. I don't really care how girls view my lifestyle of late because making these stories I've written into games has been my life's ambition and I'm proud of the work that I'm doing. It would be super nice if long-term, my game work could become successful enough that I can start doing software engineering part time and focus on game work full time. But doing both full time (as I have to if I don't want to fall off the horse) is very difficult to balance...

Courtney, I completely agree with all your points, I was going to add that going to the gym/exercising often will not only benefit your physical appearance but it will benefit you inside as well. You'll feel a lot more energetic and confident about yourself. Then with the takeaways as well, it's such an important skill to be able to cook - plus I've heard many women find men who can cook more attractive haha. It'll feel more rewarding and fulfilling if you make your own food, of course you can still get takeaways but do it within moderation, ultimately you don't want to become too dependent on them.
Though on another note I do find that at times I can spend a bit too much time on my phone, currently I'm working on improving that by finding more hobbies and learning more skills be that DIY, Sports or even anything Tech related. The key is that you should try to avoid being bored. Being bored unfortunatlely leads to bad consequences, where people become more apathetic, lethargic and unhealthy due to bad eating habits and spending more time scolling on your phone compared to normally.

Another excellent video, Courtney. You speak precious wisdom.
Question, what if one of your hobbies is making memes and photo edits to social media accounts on your phone? Even though our faces are buried in our phones, we’re still engaging in a hobby (though weird and nerdy) on our mobile devices. It’s kind of a catch-22, as it facilitates being antisocial. What are your thoughts? Is there a middle ground? Thanks. 😊
