It was so good and greatly educational! Thank you Sonny for sharing this amazing story! Loved the lobster man ! The vinegar was a new twist for me! TY for sharing I’d love to see the lobster man on magnolia channel!
I’m loving the new trend of the people catching or raising the food selling direct to consumers. We have been buying beef from two ranches and have only bought from the grocery stores 2-3 times in the last year. Getting it from the ranches is better for them and we get superior beef. I encourage people to check it out.
It's not really good for the ranchers. Selling to grocery stores is way more profitable for them. As they can move more meat at a higher price than directly selling them to consumers.
I totally agree. My son works at a small, family owned farm & meat production and packing company. They process deer, cows, pigs, lamb, mutton… pretty much anything that the local farmers and hunters bring in. They have a small retail store at their facility to sell whatever the farmers/hunters want to sell. I buy all of my beef, venison and pork through them. Not only is the meat so much better, it’s less expensive and I’m helping a local business that’s been around for as long as I’ve been alive. My father and brothers have always taken their game to them to be processed and I’m proud that my son now works for such a lovely family & company. Plus they treat him right… way better than some big corporation would. He got sick just a few months after starting there and he found out it was a pretty serious condition. The doctor kept him out of work for 10 months. When he called his boss to ask him if he could reapply he was told that he was still an employee and his job was waiting for him. Then, he cut off half of his middle finger due to a faulty ban-saw. It had just had some routine maintenance and wasn’t safe for use. His employer immediately called 911 and before my son was even done at the hospital they had filled out all of the insurance paperwork and filed a claim for him. A week later it was deposited into his checking account. All he had to do was sign his name. And they did it because they cared, not because they were trying to scam him out of something. I’ll never buy from a grocery store again. ✌🏻😊🥰
@@amirhaikal6672 I don’t know who told you that but it’s abjectly false. There is the lowest margin to sell straight to processors who distribute to large grocers and a dozen middlemen to pay. Selling DTC is more profitable once you get the logistics in place. The investment is high, yes, but long term yield is winning for the ranchers.

Wow. I wanted to visit the fancy seafood place in Manhattan and looked up the Chef. And he's the famous chef that passed away recently. RIP Chef James!
I'm a big shrimp fan because they're so versatile and easy to get, and there's very little seafood I don't like (I'm meh on shark, and I once had a _terrible_ fried softshell crab sandwich that I blame more on the restaurant going downhill than on the crab, that entire dinner was a bit of a disaster), but my absolute favorites are spider rolls (fried softshell crab leg makizushi) and mackerel sashimi (as far as I'm concerned, it's basically dessert).
In Maine, I had dug clams, raked blueberries, and at a blueberry processing and packaging . Besides living all over the state, I mainly was a CNA in nursing and rehab facilities to assisted living, home health and hospice. Thank you Sonny!

48:28 This is so true!! I lived on the eastern shore for 12 years and I still go back to visit friends and just to eat good, fresh seafood. A couple years ago I took my bff down with me and the first thing I did was take her to a local restaurant that makes all local, all fresh seafood. We ordered a couple platters and I told her that she had to try the crab cakes. She was actually amazed. She’d only ever had crab cakes in landlocked places and they were more filler than crab. She ended up loving everything and I ended up buying a couple hundred dollars worth of fresh seafood to take back to PA with me. But what really blew her mind was a small place I took her to for lunch on about the 4th day there. Just a small diner in town…it looks like a hole in the wall place. They had crab cakes on the lunch special that day and she asked me if they would be as good as they were at the Clam Shack. I just laughed and told her that no one in Maryland would make anything less. So, she ordered the special and couldn’t believe how good they were…especially with the price. I explained that this little place caught their own fish every morning and the special would be whatever they ended up catching the most of…so you can always find excellent fish and seafood for a good price there. I got spoiled and I miss it so much now that I’m living in PA. I miss sitting at a table covered with brown paper, crabs dumped out in the middle of the table, little hammers at each seat, licking the old bay off my fingers, talking & laughing with a bib gracing the neck of every adult and child sitting at that table. It’s not just about the food…it’s about the friends, the conversation, the joking around and laughing, the sounds of everyone slurping the butter and old bay off of their fingers. It’s about community when you go to a crab feast or boil. It’s something I miss everyday and I’m so glad you got to experience it, Sonny & Sonny’s wife. 😊❤ 🦀 🐟

When i see how excited and pleased people are about the area of the US they live in, & how happy they are about the abundance of fresh fruits and veggies, the livestock and sea/lake life. How Wealthy this has made certain families & their employees. Also how Proud their are when they come from up to 6 generations connected to certain areas & industries...I can't help to think how disappointed, heartbroken, lost & monetary swindled the Native Indigenous people experienced & felt!...Well fairness, equality, honesty, empathy, consideration & concern were never common in life itself, so we just continue to make the best out of it right? Yes!...We repeat a lot of the same mistakes from the past constantly as a whole and individually...that's why it's such a blessing to have loving families, friends, acquaintances, bosses and country officials who truly want Us to Succeed in this Journey We call Life!...Fantastic Video and Yes, the Whole East Coast of the US is Definitely one of the Great Treasures of Our Earth!💯❤️🤍💙✌🏾💪🏽👍
Funny part is we only sell tails in the grocery stores mainly, unless they are big brand with alive ones, but now I'm going to see if they sell some "pistols" now that I watch this.
we eat a ton of pomfrets in Hong Kong, most often simply salted with a splash of alcohol for about 10 min., then panfried in plenty of oil/butter (not deboned). the fatty meat is so delicious. (pomfrets are common fish throughout Southeast and South Asia, although our kinds here are more silver with tiny scales)
The best crab cakes in the best crab soup I ever had was in Maryland and also Delaware you can also get some really good crab and crab cakes in eastern Pennsylvania and of course New Jersey

Oh snap you got @jacob Knols and that other young lad that has a crab fishing RUclips channel as well.. right on.. good collaboration! I love the content Jacob puts out. His energy he has is just the best. Like yourself Sonny! 👌

🌺 Aloha Sonny, I was so happy to click on your “Seafood” vlog! OMG! 🍤🦪🍣🥠🐟🦐🦀🦞…. Mahalo (Thank You) for sharing the beautiful people you have interviewed from generations to generations. They not only love what they’re doing but share their insights about the food they enjoy eating. 😋 I have to say, You are so hilarious, Sonny! This one got me laughing, if the missionaries came knocking on my door, with this seafood, where do I sign up? 😂 Actually, you practically threw out punchlines jokes, every now and then, that me laugh. 😂🤣 Keep it coming, Sonny! 🙌🏼 🤙🏼 👍🏼✌🏼
I’d never thought to see Jacob on your channel! He’s amazing!
jesus that place in south carolina looks beautiful, it's kinda sunny but there's a mist covering the place, how is that real
This channel excels at bringing the human element to the supply chain of food.
As a New Englander, I approve of this episode. 👍
we eat a ton of pomfrets in Hong Kong, most often simply salted with a splash of alcohol for about 10 min., then panfried in plenty of oil/butter (not deboned). the fatty meat is so delicious. (pomfrets are common fish throughout Southeast and South Asia, although our kinds here are more silver with tiny scales)

Add fresh lemon juice to butter, way better
And 3 tbsp of heavy cream, or raw organic milk
