Regarding the time between The Giggle and The Church on Ruby Road, I was thinking about that gap at the time, and while it certainly is open to interpretation, I think the implications are it is a relatively short time. Since the Doctor still seems to find all the magic and fantasy elements coming through very new, exciting and not something he has experience with. Where-as I think if it'd been say 100 years he'd have most likely bumped into it a fair whack and be more familiar by now.
@@CulturePhilter Yeah, I agree with that. I think there's certainly a few years of wiggle room without breaking credibility. It's not where I personally lean but I don't think it's unreasonable a stretch. But the more years you put in there the more it sits ill at ease with the Doctor's wide eyed "this is all new" attitude to magic.
The free Comic Book Day issue was only the story's beginning, but it's interesting! If these comic stories are Canon, then I'm assuming they have to be between episodes 1 and 2 of the new series since it looks like visiting Wyoming during the dinosaurs is Ruby's first time traveling. Both Ruby and The Doctor change clothes by the second episode. It may be easy to track where stories occur with this Doctor because of his frequent outfit changes. I think the showrunners ignore whatever happens in expanded media and let the fans do the mental gymnastics to make anything fit.
Oh for the most part they absolutely don’t take heed of the expanded media. Apart from rare instances like where RTD stated that Liberation of the Daleks is officially what happened immediately after 13 regenerated into 14.
!PREDICTION THAT😅 I REALLY NEED TO TELL SOMEONE! So we know that someone is stuck in a drum in The Devils Chord. So on the “Hugs” clip in a newer trailer, the Doctor and Ruby are in the same room as the person that was stuck in a drum, and Ruby looks like something really bad just happened - so I think it was Ruby that got stuck in the drum, and in a recent trailer we saw Maestro pulling Ruby towards a drum using the music notes 🎵! However I don’t know how Ruby gets tangled up then, because the music notes could also be trying to tangle her up too. Also it’s worth mentioning that .A) The person stuck in the drum doesn’t seem to be in the same room as Maestro was in when she was pulling Ruby with the music notes. However… when Ruby is tangled up, she’s in the same room as when Maestro was her in using the music notes 🫤
The question is how does the trailer footage (him turning to the camera and saying “are you ready for this” & “and that’s just the beginning”) fit into it? In my own list of stories I had to put the 14th doctor trailers as non canon because of him addressing events which he wouldn’t know about (although it almost fits into the same canon as “once upon a time lord” from the start of the star beast), but I don’t feel like 15’s trailer directly breaks the continuity. There’s also the 15th doctor audition script which may be able to be worked into the canon.
5:21 that’s interesting, the doctor is wearing the main outfit from the Christmas special, but he changed his top at the end of it which doesn’t fit with the timeline because i doubt he would put on the same top again so soon
Yes, I only noticed that while editing as well so had to cut out a bit of my narration. Ruby IS in the same outfit though (if you can look past orange being red)

@@CulturePhilter Yea I am in the US. I've seen the Disney+ promotions for the new season but not for what was basically the Christmas special. So, I was just really confused at the beginning of the first episode thinking and feeling like I missed a few episodes prior, which I basically did lol.

Ooh, bad timing. The 15th Doctor on 'Match of the Day' with Robo-Lineker dropped last night and that's definitely canon.
I know 😄 that and the free comic book day issue will just have to wait until the next episode of the canon catch up next month.

My plan is to do an update every month. Adding in the things released that previous month onto the timeline.
