hi thank you for the video and when i checked the website there are double woofer designs and there is no single woofer design like in the video, how do i get it
Mark I hope you see my comment. I want to build an enclosure of 4 subwoofers 10 inches each. With a diameter of 33 inch length and 21 inch height. What about a port dimension!?
Building my second enclosure now. First dual subwoofer enclosure - center slotted. I love watching you build and design. Learned so much from your channel. Jealous of the tools you have lol, but you are seriously an artist and a craftsman. I love love how you balance the look and precision of everything with the functionality and performance. You truly take car audio to a whole new level of artistry.
Been in this game for a looooooooong time and it's nice to see someone include all the little details in their builds that really separate your backyard builder or cheap manufacturer builds. Explaining the air oscillation over the rounded parts and through the brace/port is awesome to see. Been preaching this to friends for decades and so many of them just roll their eyes lol
They don’t make people like you very often. Most people are all about $ and greed over quality. Thank you for doing this the correct way. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻 Well done.
You are amazing as always. I have been watching your videos for a while now, they are always so educational and valuable. I have been doing very minor car audio work for myself and friends for well over 10 years, I have never built an enclosure though until recently , my Kicker L7S15 blew out the screw holes in the box. The enclosure was very poorly made with particle board, they built it almost to spec but not the best. I have been watching you video a lot lately and have started my build with confidence thanks to you. I am so excited with how it is going especially for my first enclosure.
I'm building a new enclosure for mine. 2 cu sealed. It sounds very boring, but I am going to make mine in a U shape and invert the sub. I plan on isolating the trunk from the cab, using the sub box as the main isolating wall. The sub basket open behind my rear folding seats. The other side is acrylic, so you can see the W7 face inside the enclosure when you open the trunk.
I know it's probably a lot to ask but can you make a video one day where you go through the entire process from measuring trunk space to final install of a sub? I know you've done many videos in parts but I always feel like I'm missing something. I'm about to build my own sub box for a sundown x v3 12 inch and I think my box is rather meh in design. I think it will work fine and I've double checked everything twice but I'm still not confident it will be a great box for that sub. That being said your videos are a great resource for anyone interested in car audio and I'm glad we have them here to watch.
This is exactly what I have been searching for to add a sub to 2019 300S!! I wanted 15” performance but only have room for a 12” with space to spare! Now I just gotta save up for this monster. But I really really dream of owning this exact box for it!! Maybe without the extra detail but def the thicker flush mount baffle front! Please make and sell these if you can! 🎉
I’m gonna have to build a ported box myself I like the factory sealed it’s nice but ported will get me right where I want to be! I got tons of room no problem doing a bigger box. I think I’m gonna go slightly over like you did! Makes it more efficient to just gotta watch the gain and subsonic not over throw it tear or break something!
Nice work. Do you not like to use aero ports or pvc ports? Do you have a video comparing the pros and cons of the different types of ports if not I’m interested in seeing one.
Aero ports typically are too long given a low tuned enclosure to fit inside, slots are a better alternative because they are used with the provided wood inside and can be angled and long as needed to fpget the proper tune
Mark great work as always! I think you would definitely benefit from a CNC. Nothing too big. It would speed up your process for sure. It could work on more simple cuts like the baffles and braces while you focus on the detail of you beauty panels.
I do recommend his blueprints for sub designs. 45s bracing and double baffling. My box/fi team 12 impresses the biggest systems. Flexes everythung in sight. Ill be purchasing another blueprint for dual 12 teams. Always want to go bigger
Hi Mark, I enjoy watching your videos. It sure would be nice to see some fresh videos. For example, how to set up an amplifier that is oversized for the load. A 500w rms sub and an 800w+ rms amp. Or tips on determining the crossover points when using 6 1/2” mids, tweeters, and 8” in the front doors along with one 10” or 12” sub in the rear. Or tips on incorporating a subwoofer enclosure into a custom center console.
It would be really cool if you could post a video on how to design a box for a sub that you don't have the factory specs for. How to take a sub your buddy just gave you and you might not even know what it is, find the T/S parameters and then design a box for it. Like all the videos you make, they pertain to not just car audio but all speaker fabrication
Great work as always one qeustion i have which is bugging me im looking at building a twin 10 inch enclosure ive noticed that some company have there subwoofers close to the port outlet on the box and others put the subwoofer away from the vent externally which is correct please
Id like to experiment with an all metal box or making a metal skeleton that squeezes the mdf. The skeleton would be welded together around box, no screws. I know this would add lots of weight but wouldnt this produce tighter bass?
Vehicle will definitely make a difference as well, I had the spec Atrend 2.375 34.6hz box for my 13w7 and I built a 2.8 32hz box and it was significantly louder and lower on the same exact amp.
Mark, all ur videos are brilliant but there is one question unanswered. How do you glue or join the resign part to the wood part? Or how do you join two pieces of a box to make a closed structure? Does the resign glue to another piece of dried resign? Or do you need another technique to join hardened resign with new resign or MDF? Thanks for all the vid you share on RUclips.
I love what you mentioned about tradeoffs So you can increase volume when you scale back some bass well what about high frequencies and tweeters? Is it safe to play your system a little higher when you tone down the treble?
Hey Mark. Love the channel. Been following you for quite a while. I'm not sure if you have ever covered this topic before. I want to build a fiberglass enclosure to replace my factory sub in my SUV. What I wanted to know is how do you figure out proper air space for such an irregular shape? And to add an extra level of difficulty. How do you figure the port of you wanted to build it in? What I have seen here on YT is people just building into the shape and not being concerned about proper air space. Never seen one ported. Is this just a pipe dream?
My unk had thse subs for bout 10 years in a 96 Ss Impala …. On two jl 1000 man bass ten years til holds up to today bass til runs this setup today in that same car …. But that setup was like 7k 10 years ago prlly the best quality sub i evee seen
What do u suggest for volume vs what the manufacturer says And whats your rule of thumb for sq inches of port per cube ? For the average 12 inch subwoofer
You have sub woofer videos like no other. But what about speakers for those mids and high range? Looking for something that can give a smooth synth come to life!
I wish I understood the tuning frequency and the measurements of making a box. Like what does each measurement mean when it comes to the sound, and the tuning frequency of the box. I don’t understand much of it. I love audio and just got the Alpine X-W12D4 and got Adire audio 12” performance ported box and the alpine mono amp that puts out 900 watts that’s discontinued. I wanna learn and understand it all ):
Keep the videos coming Mark. I’m about to install my 13.5 W7 this week. I’m running it on an HD1200 that will be controlled with a VXI 800/8. Will you be doing a video on using a VXI as your DSP?

❣️🔥Well nice enclosure for sure this gear it going to sound great in ported enclosure, you didn't add those Groves (notch) spot that give nice spot for upholstery carpeting well I was expecting it😅😅
Actually thinking about it now, seems like it's probably fine since it's only a single baffle on the area under the mounting flange which isn't very large

Going Old School with the jigsaw and the trashcan for the rough cuts!!! I remember when the trashcan was basically your workbench.
This version has dust collection to catch that extra ambient dust :) Thanks for being an OG viewer!
@@CarAudioFabrication what table saw do you have?
What you mean was? I still use the trash can as the universal workbench!
Great video. All your enclosures have such a professional look even when they're unfinished

I am so glad you went with the ported encloser........
It's been a while since we've seen you building an enclosure from scratch... it seems so easy when you have the talent and the right tools.
Emphasis on "talent". Pretty sure he could do it with a chainsaw and crazy glue.
Good morning, which speakers have the best sound and clear with bass JBL or Sundown speakers? And which brand?
They don’t make people like you very often. Most people are all about $ and greed over quality. Thank you for doing this the correct way. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻 Well done.

Sounds like a cool build! Definitely let me know how it turns out! Tag in some pics on Instagram @caraudiofab if you want!
The all mighty W7. Costs more than a nice amp but imo the holy grail of subs

Sick build Mark 👍🏼 The Box I had you design for my w6 was incredible, it was daily for three years!
The subwoofer GOAT! Jlw7!
Been wanting to put a ported box in my car for a while now, I think I'm going to follow along and get the same sub
Do it! Going to be some amazing bass... Let me know if you need a more tailored design! www.caraudiofabrication.com/box-designs

Mark great work as always! I think you would definitely benefit from a CNC. Nothing too big. It would speed up your process for sure. It could work on more simple cuts like the baffles and braces while you focus on the detail of you beauty panels.
I have one, I try to show multiple different construction techniques on the channel.

You mean like measuring? I talk about measuring in several of my videos on the channel here: www.youtube.com/@CarAudioFabrication/search?query=measure
Nah. I mean like. I just got a car and all I know is I want a clean setup. Where would you start. Deck or integration. Mids n highs. Sub and box design. Measurements for deadening and wire runs. Upgrades in the batts n alt and those wires. Amps and dsp or eq.

Which one has better sound quality between JL audio and Audison..?? I am super confused
JL audio, the W6 if you want an all sound quality subwoofer (this, in sealed enclosure is better). W7 if you want a Loud subwoofer (this work better in a ported box).
Audison is good if you choice only the THESIS series, but the subwoofer is only in 10inch version (if i don't get wrong). I'm italian and i live in Italy, and i know audison very well. The Thesis speaker are very good (The amplifier, thesis or HV VENTI, are insane Hi-end for very rich people) but in terms of subwoofer, use JL AUDIO. Have a great day!
Bro i wanted to no how to tune the box @ 30hz 0:43
The MDF its not to thin ?!!
I have an jl audio 8w7 Anniversary edition
What dbs level is expected out of this thing
Box with sub is gonna be over 100lbs….
And it’ll be the best 100+lbs you’ll ever lift for quality base.
Haha my build table is flexing from holding all the weight.
You could give me an endless supply of wood, tools, instructions, and years to build this enclosure, i couldnt do it. It would be a disaster build and sound like a woopie cushion everytime the bass hit
