+Can Gerek It's noticeable, but the game looks great, no matter how you run it. At its lowest settings, it's still going to look like many other top tier developers high - ultra settings. If your system can run it smoothly on low, go for it, there's not a ton you're going to be missing out on.

Your gonna have to overclock the the shit outta your potato and tomato. Cool em with the coconut water or you'll end up with fries and ketchup.

CrucialConflict i just downloaded the wither 3 with 2 expansions. Do you mean that it makes it look very good or do you mean that it takes a toll on the performs of your computer?
It makes the game looks great but decreases frames. I have a GTX 1070 and i'm able to run game just fine
I have a 970 and run the game fine as well with it on (30 fps but can't really see the difference between 30 and 60 in the game though on other games i sometimes can see it... still i don't think people need to rage over 30 fps games because that's really all you need, but i guess pc gamers like myself need to find something to diss on console gamers :P)

Just some games don't need 60 fps to be playable and I really don't see why people complain about it all the time.
Also no trouble at all with 3d games or anything like that, so nothing wrong with my eyes, I think the thing wrong is the mindset of people who think that every game needs 60 fps, and can't live with 30 fps.
I used to play starcraft at 20 fps and had no problems there with gameplay or really visuals at all, however once I got the better computer it was apparent that having it above at least 30 is best of course.
But once again gamers have it stuck in their stupid minds that every game needs 60 fps to be playable while it really doesn't need that.
Low is obviously better, it comes with a free sword!

It's the complete opposite. *Ultra still looks pretty crap actually.* You're just subconsciously comparing it the wrong way because you accept that "Ultra looks the best it could", and in comparison, Low is quite close.
Somehow, still can't match foliage detail of Crysis 1. Heck, modders with less than 1% of the devs' resources can make Skyrim look almost real. But the devs can't be half-assed to make such an effort, right?
Or maybe they don't want to, because "that would make the console version look bad".

Yes, it employs newer tech like HBAO and Hairworks, but apart from that, the environment looks like that of a 5 year old game. I know, it's been said before, but compare to the E3 version...
DoomnightK Yeah, what settings the console version runs should be irrelevant to the PC version. If they have to lower the details for more fps, they can be my guests. I just don't see why it has to affect the dynamic setting range of PC.
The only "reason" I can think of is, again "it would make the console version look bad in comparison".

@Doge the shadow doesnt have low settings its all "illusion" the low settings part are just particles that can be reduced that the game can have and the "low settings" doesnt affect the dialogue scenes cause its not in real time, you can actually see theres a transition in between actions meaning its a "cinematic" , cdprojektred are a+ with their effort here but theyre basically fraud, their games are so scripted to the point where they lied about it being a big open world game when witcher 3 is actually just an assassin's creed's open world ripoff

Darth Zoddo When it comes to shadows and terrain distance it's really negligible. If you didn't have the labels telling you which one is which, you would never know for sure just by looking at them. Textures and water quality definitely have the biggest variance in appearance. I'm not sure how calling someone a casual contributes to this discussion.

trust me i have play witcher 3 ultra settings and just because i was curious i drop the graphics down to low.. i got around 90+ fps but the game (compare to Ultra) looked awful!

+Rae Janiña Artates That is because on ultra I only had 30 fps while on low I had 60 :) when TW3 came out, it had huge performance problems. Later, some patches fixed this problem.

gtx 660 is not much ahead in performance compared to 750 ti ...do keep in mind the minimum requirement is for 1080p which should explain why so high...
Dani John i don't think the system requirement is 100% true. Ac unity required a gtx 680 and i play it in a 750 ti with medium setting on 1080p and high on 900p.

One thing I noticed, the visual difference is a lot smaller than I expected, and also it seems there was actually some slight framerates drops on the ultra settings, not to surprising since ask but the toughest rigs would be bound to see a bit of that when recording.
These effects are nice but IMO they are not as impressive as the companies who sell the graphics cards make them out to be, Nvidia's hairwork for example. I liked the water effect and the foliage visibility but everything else I can do without.

It may be more expensive but nothing close to those prices, I've never spent more than 800€ and my rigs last for 4 years if you know what to buy, and I can't remember the last time my DVD destroyed my PC or my PC having a red ring of death cause of shitty manufacturing.
***** Eh.....Sorry to burst your bubble. PC Gaming does have a slightly higher INITIAL Price, but not by that much. You can be fine with a $400-$600 PC. When I built my friend his PC we spent around 350 bucks. We were using a GPU from 2011 which was before these "next gen" consoles and his PC would be able to run most games at 1080p at 60FPS with medium to high settings.
PC Gaming CAN be expensive, but only if you want it to be. I spent a lot of money on my rig, but then again I do have a triple monitor set up and high end parts. But you can build a good gaming PC for anywhere from $400 to $600 and be fine until "next gen" consoles come out.

I mean Cmon it's not all PC gamers and I respect your opinion but some PC gamers across RUclips have bashed CDPR and the game just because the visuals aren't insane... Yet the game has a massive wealth of content, massive world to explore and 16 pieces of free dlc in the weeks after its launch... Give CDPR a break I personally think they've done an incredibly job and I can't wait to get my hands on my copy Tuesday morning (PS4 gamer... No hate on PC community, I just want everyone to game happy and on the platform they feel most comfortable with)

The problem is that CDPR promised the game to look MUCH better than it does and they just downgraded it and didn't announce anything about the downgrade.
The only thing they said about the graphics (on PC) is that it will looks like it did in the trailers.
maheenali94 buddy, this game looks worse than The Witcher 2. It's not about graphics in this case, It's about atmosphere. And the lighting and postFX in this game are unimpressive and make the world feel so stale. Go play the witcher 2 on max settings, then come back and tell me that this game feels as good and alive as that one. Simple things such as light rays and particle effects simply are not in this game. I'd rather a linear world with The Witcher 2's atmosphere than an open world with a bland one.

Yeah, Hairworks will work just fine, but you need to use your own hair.
I played this masterpiece in my old 2009 pc, with a 5850hd - q9550 (both overclocked), and still worked smooth even in middle-low settings except in the big city where I get some fps drops (solvable playing in low).
What a fantastic game, gorgeous and beautiful scenarios, full of live and realism, I've never seen anything like that in any other game, I could spend hours riding around the map enjoying the landscapes. Such a fantastic work done by CD-project.

I remember the days when playing a game in low vs ultra often meant losing almost--if not all dynamic lighting, no physics on cloth-like objects, grass and trees wouldn't draw far enough and you could see them materialize 15 feet in front of you, and the textures were so low resolution that it almost looked out of place on the 3D models they were attached to. Sure is nice that these days even the low settings are pretty and still provide a high level of immersion into the game world.

I recommend setting ultra with hairworks off and set game to 720p. Looks perfect to me. Little blur helps to hide few imperfections and lets our imagination repair it for us.
My low looks worse than that, and my ultra looks better, I know the RUclips compression, but I'm not sure your graphics were lowest and maxed.
But sure. Lets compare low and ultra and not go low and ultra....
This is before patches so that could also be a reason.

I have the same system but an older processer (I7 4970k) I don't mine not running ultra, I've just installed the new drivers from nvidia that came out today so I'm expecting that should improve your performance unless you already had them?
Ste Dunn On Ultra I had mostly 30 fps -.sometimes 40-50. But I did not have day one patch installed. It brings a huge improvement.

I have everything on ULTRA apart from hair to turn off, foilage to high, shadow to high, everything else ultra and am getting 60+fps at 1080p on a rig a little less than yours, so am guessing your rig after the patch is blowing this away! A very pretty game, though game play wise bores me, still very samey samey, heard it all be fore blah blah blah, it's not a skyrim killer... it's not even in the same ball park as the elder scrolls!

The only thing to notice on low is grass render distance and textures but only when we look at them closely ;)

Whoever saying it's solely the goddamn consoles holding back the graphics and without them we could have photo-realistic graphics, look at the results. If even highly capable upper midrange cards like 970 and 290 which most potential players don't even afford are having a hard time to barely break the 30 fps barrier on 1080p, let alone 1440 or QHD, and that is WITH the downgrade in place, I don't know how can I blame it all on consoles alone. zeebazu Speaking out of experience, programming a console is quite different from programming a PC. Even the simplest 2d game engine can run at less than 30 fps on a gtx 970 if its code is bad or naive enough. With a few optimizations a developer can easily make an engine run much, much better, but except for the simplest cases such optimizations require time and research. Thing is, we are spending most of our time optimizing for consoles since otherwise they simply can't run newer games, let alone future games. On the other hand, since PCs are much more powerful, developers often count on that superior performance to run bad, improvised code instead of making effective use of all that extra power simply because we spent most of our time optimizing for consoles in the first place.
In the end, the extra power we have on PCs is used to compensate for bad code. If all the effort put into developing for consoles was instead put into using that [vast] extra power effectively, gaming would be quite a few ways ahead of what it is today.
zeebazu I get around 40-50fps in 1080p maxed out - when Hair comes close to the camera, it may drop to 30 because of Game/Hairworks - if I turn that off i get 50 stable, with foliage cover on high instead of ultra fps goin' up to 60.

I think if I had an i5/7/e3 Game/Hairworks would be a even tinier problem :)
dante meriere And all console gamers (the majority) would get shafted so that those people who can afford to spend roughly $1000 on their gaming rig and hours researching parts/manufacters and putting their PC together while running the huge risk of wasting all of their time or money on a machine that cannot accomplish the specific purpose they had in mind for it would get graphics that would probably not be as better as some seem to think they would be.

In terms of overall look, most changes have little effect on the graphics, mostly multiply the quantity, even the AA isnt annoying at 1920 res. compared to a ray-traced scene the lighting is still bad, and different shaders would look good too. still looks very playable whatever the settings. and great graphics even if they arent differnt from normal.
