I just got a new mark 5 and the os version date Nov 2021. It seems to run pretty good. I don’t even know if I need the Sergey firmware. What’s your os version date? Just curious if aucar updated their system since you got yours.

And my 360 camera on 2019 q50 sport worked fine from day one. I’m wondering if they did some major patching? I actually paid for Sergey firmware but I haven’t installed it since it’s working perfectly fine for me, and don’t want the firmware to change any of this…have you heard anything on this updated version from aucar?
@@bjj5746 I haven't, but I do know they did a patch to fix the camera button on the 2018 redsports. There's a good chance they bundled lots of tweaks/fixes in with that patch thats shipping on all the new devices. I wouldn't worry about the sergey firmware making things worse - that would be the first I'd heard of that happening. Thanks again for your comment - that's awesome insight and really good to hear!

It's true, there's a new one coming (that listing has been up for a few months now). It's not ready for market release yet - the pricing on the listing is intentionally exorbitant to deter pre-release sales. They're getting close to having a prototype for me to test. Ordered the MK5 for my Q60RS (2017) after watching your video. Have you struggled with getting the MPH/Time/Fahrenheit to stick? I've done this change several times (then Save & Reboot) but each time, the changes aren't saved. I have reached out to aucar but have yet to hear back.
I can only speak of my experience, but I literally NEVER have to reboot this thing unless I'm changing system settings. Disclaimer: I do have the Sergey firmware which optimizes some stuff. But even before that, mandatory reboots weren't a thing for me.

I ordered my Mk5 13th July and it was ready for shipping on 16th July, but DHL have not been able to ship anything because of flooding in the area they tell me. Just had an update, DHL are shipping again from Wednesday 4th.

I am also in communication with Sergey, so once I get the hardware installed I am going to just straight up install the new firmware and I also asked for root access so i can install "setcpu" and play with the cpu performance.
@@SquareWheelsAuto So Update from my side. I finally got the screen in and installed it. I also went ahead and connected a little fan on the heatsink and do not have any slowdown issues at all. I connected the small USB fan to one of the two USB cables they provide. I can use my internal GPS as well and the 360 video works(ugly though cause of the 480p cameras). I split screened youtube and maps at the same time with no issues and very little lag , even after using it for 20 mins. I also talked to Sergey and he will provide a way to root his ROM once I get it from him so I expect the screen to be close to perfect with no lag. I think the fan is making the difference as it dissipates the heat very well and the cpu does not slow down to avoid overheating. I am going to use the stock ROM for a few days just to make sure things continue to work before I get Sergey's ROM. Thanks again for getting this in front of all us, it definitely makes the car way better. Also, my SirusXM works great!
I have an older model and it takes 15 minutes to just turn on when it’s cold outside. I’m tempted just to get a new model and junk this one cause it’s ridiculous
I just had my MK5 installed and everything works except there is no audio when using spotify, pandora, or the phone. The radio has audio, but that's it anything else audio related doesn't work. Do you have any troubleshooting, I fell like its something simple
Make sure your car is set to AUX source. That's how the mk5 gets audio out through the speakers. If that doesn't work, hit me at support@squarewheelsauto.com for support (include your order num in subject line)
How did you get android auto to full screen? Mines only works if i use the usb plugs behind the radio and not the armrest. Is this the same case for you?
1) in settings, there's an option for 'HD Display' - disable that to make AA fullscreen 2) no i've never used the plugs behind the radio. I use the included usb cables (routed them to my armrest), and they work fine for android auto, firmware updates, and playing downloaded music/videos
All of them are a little laggy compared to each other, they cheaped out on the memory and storage! 8gb of memory and at least 1tb of storage even if its ddr4 memory would be faster!
I just installed the firmware update and I’m experiencing issues with the wireless CarPlay. Is that just me and maybe I missed something because the CarPlay worked really well before I installed the update.

Before the Sergey firmware I found the settings for the guidelines. I can either have the factory guidelines that move with the steering wheel, or the units guidelines which are static. The Sergey firmware allows you to modify the guidelines (angle/length, etc) and add a line for trailers.

Dual know on center console only works as volume, camera button works sometimes. When is the newer unit coming out? Might just return or sell the unit and just wait but overall it's not bad and way better than the stock

I bought my MK5 about 2 months ago. Having issues with the time staying correct and android auto doesn't connect via wire. Unless I'm doing something wrong. Im using the plugs in the arm rest. Should I have added the usb plugs behind the radio instead? I didn't connect this during install because i was ok with just the 2 in arm rest.
@@SquareWheelsAuto I'm working with them now. Seeing if they can swap out the unit for me. They sent me a link to reinstall zlink. Still had problems. Also having issues with audio. Intouch works good but audio fades to the front right speakers on and off. Everything's installed correctly.
hmm good question not aware of anything like that. It is just an android device so you could temporarily enable the screen lock - it should be in settings -> more settings
Anyone with a Phillips head screwdriver, it's really easy (I documented the installation here: ruclips.net/video/Imqw7oa3izE/видео.html ) Not necessary to take it to a pro, but any shop that installs head units or stereos could do it easily
Not sure. I know the cars within the themes are configurable, but I'm not sure if the icon files are in accessible filesystem - you'd have to ask Sergey to be sure!
@@ThatguyLoso120 I don’t use AA regularly, I just set it up to confirm it works. Personally I’ve found the zlink app to be horrible. When I tested HUR, full screen AA worked, both wired and wireless

we followed the instructions,we copied the .ans file over to the flash drive, music player is default, we put the code in and music started up. however when we detach and attached the flash drive, nothing happens. We dont get the install pop up on screen What do you suggest?
Despite the update, these comments still highlight the problems inherent with this low quality hardware. The software side can be handled via update and isn't a big deal but this screen lag and a few other things is fully due to the super low quality cpu/gpu. The PX6 (RK3399, RK3399Pro) was introduced in 2016 and the integrated GPU (Mali T860) was introduced in 2015. This is exceedingly ancient by aftermarket tech standards and it's pretty absurd that this unit costs anything over $500. This same processor is/was in the Samsung Chromebook back in 2016 and that thing cost $500. It was significantly higher performance than this thing currently is. Software refinements will help but why bother? This SoC is severely outdated and the unit is overpriced. Perhaps the newer unit will have a processor from this decade, that would be nice.
P.S. most other items (tablets and din units with fold out screens) that use this SoC are priced around $200-$250. You can by the SoC itself for around $40 wholesale and about $95 as a consumer. It makes you wonder just exactly why the AuCar Mark 5 costs $800+.
Agreed, clearly underwhelming hardware. Appears you've identified a huge opportunity in the market that nobody seems to have filled! Grab the latest and greatest hardware, do the R&D it takes to integrate it with a specific vehicle's functions/telemetry/etc and price it better! I'd def buy it.
I mean, its a car headunit. You really dont need it to be able to game or run super fast. If you want that then go with an ipad dash setup. Its an inexpensive and tried and true board. As long as it can receive and play radio and run Maps, it is doing 99% of what it needs to. My phone is for everything else I would need to do👍

Android wireless only works with a with a short workaround. It's not straight up light the apple world carplay when seeing it up

Hold the power button at the top for a soft reboot, or hold the home button for ~10s for a hard reset.

Firmware has little to do with CarPlay. Carplay is enabled by an app, like the Zlink app u mentioned

Hi my name is Dee. I got the mark 5 for my q50s. Im a veteran that just started to get into this tech stuff. I got to tell u I found it easier managing a hustle situation when in the service and trying to figure this out. I have connected the mark 5 but haven't bolt it all on until I figure this out HELP I need someone to get my 6!

Really not sure man I’ve heard as early as November, and as far out as mid/late 2022. All speculation from vendors/resellers, nothing official from the actual manufacturer.

There's a nuance specifically with ONLY that year/model's camera button that AUCar resolves with a software patch before sending out.
Hello I’m having a problem with no sound at all
I bought my MK5 about 2 months ago. Having issues with the time staying correct and android auto doesn't connect via wire. Unless I'm doing something wrong. Im using the plugs in the arm rest. Should I have added the usb plugs behind the radio instead? I didn't connect this during install because i was ok with just the 2 in arm rest.
I only use the USB in the armrest! Have u tried AUCar support? They're pretty responsive
@@SquareWheelsAuto I'm working with them now. Seeing if they can swap out the unit for me. They sent me a link to reinstall zlink. Still had problems. Also having issues with audio. Intouch works good but audio fades to the front right speakers on and off. Everything's installed correctly.

hmm good question not aware of anything like that. It is just an android device so you could temporarily enable the screen lock - it should be in settings -> more settings

Not necessary to take it to a pro, but any shop that installs head units or stereos could do it easily

Not sure. I know the cars within the themes are configurable, but I'm not sure if the icon files are in accessible filesystem - you'd have to ask Sergey to be sure!

@@ThatguyLoso120 I don’t use AA regularly, I just set it up to confirm it works. Personally I’ve found the zlink app to be horrible. When I tested HUR, full screen AA worked, both wired and wireless

The way you explained bloatware made it obvious you are an apple user. Also you have to remember no one is going to put out the very best product possible. They will make it better next year just like you said.

I am not so tech savvy I have completed the first part the last part of it has been challenging to say the least
we followed the instructions,we copied the .ans file over to the flash drive, music player is default, we put the code in and music started up. however when we detach and attached the flash drive, nothing happens. We dont get the install pop up on screen

Despite the update, these comments still highlight the problems inherent with this low quality hardware. The software side can be handled via update and isn't a big deal but this screen lag and a few other things is fully due to the super low quality cpu/gpu.
The PX6 (RK3399, RK3399Pro) was introduced in 2016 and the integrated GPU (Mali T860) was introduced in 2015. This is exceedingly ancient by aftermarket tech standards and it's pretty absurd that this unit costs anything over $500.
This same processor is/was in the Samsung Chromebook back in 2016 and that thing cost $500. It was significantly higher performance than this thing currently is. Software refinements will help but why bother? This SoC is severely outdated and the unit is overpriced.
Perhaps the newer unit will have a processor from this decade, that would be nice.
P.S. most other items (tablets and din units with fold out screens) that use this SoC are priced around $200-$250. You can by the SoC itself for around $40 wholesale and about $95 as a consumer.
It makes you wonder just exactly why the AuCar Mark 5 costs $800+.

Appears you've identified a huge opportunity in the market that nobody seems to have filled! Grab the latest and greatest hardware, do the R&D it takes to integrate it with a specific vehicle's functions/telemetry/etc and price it better! I'd def buy it.
I mean, its a car headunit. You really dont need it to be able to game or run super fast. If you want that then go with an ipad dash setup. Its an inexpensive and tried and true board. As long as it can receive and play radio and run Maps, it is doing 99% of what it needs to.
My phone is for everything else I would need to do👍
@@Luckingsworth the reason you need a faster processor is due to the low quality coders who cant write efficient code to save their asses. thats why theyre coding for an alibaba head unit instead of somewhere else, they just arent any good at it.

Yeah you can still access it, but nav on the unit (Waze or Google maps) is 10000% times better than OEM nav in my opinion
I know; I was just wondering. I am going to pick up a used Q50 maybe a 14 or 15 and was looking at ways to add Apple Car play. I was going to get the JoeAuto way, but came across your video and it seems that the Tesla screen is a much better and easier solution to implement.
For sure. Check out my other top screen video. I've had the joyeauto and the smartautokits before this unit. I can definitely say AVOID the joyeauto. This and the smartautokits are solid options 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
