If only I could see a video like yours specifically for us Indians while I was applying, it would have been so much smoother. I just got mine today and the whole process took 6 months for me. Also if you are not a citizen or PR holder, you don’t get a card. I asked the officer, he said that known traveler number is all you need. You can use that for complimentary TSA pre check and in older global entry kiosks that are not face recognition based.

I did go through the same thoughts myself while applying, and that is why I decided to create this video.
And yes, learned pretty soon after, that there won’t be any cards for us. Yet to use the TSA Precheck benefit. Hopefully soon 🤞

How long did step 3 take in India for you to get conditionally approved?
@@catdevil01 This was unfortunately the longest wait. Police verification happened in Nov 2022 and I received conditional approval in Feb 2024. So over 1 year.

You won’t get global entry card if you are here on a visa from India . Just known traveler number needed though.

Regarding your question, I am not quite sure, so I think it’s best to contact a helpline on the Passport Seva portal. Hopefully, there is an email address/phone number for this. You can try asking if you can provide another address where your folks are living.

Loved your content.. I have couple of questions hope you can help:
- In the application form, do we need to just provide the signature or both (the left thumb impression/signature)?
- While sending the application to vfs (via mail) do we need send any cashier check ?

Re. your questions - 1) I don’t think you need to add a thumb impression. I didn’t do it when I submitted my application in 2022. I am thinking this is only a requirement in specific cases.
2) I ended up going in person, but doesn’t VFS collect all the fees at the time of application completion? A cashier’s check for what fee exactly?
Hi, your video is helpful thanks. But it would be nice if you have shown or talk about how the status look like right after applied and before police verification and after.
Can you tell me, what is this mean? I have applied from US. Is it police verification or after police verification?? (GEP Verification Process has been initiated on your application. Once inputs from all the concerned Government Authorities are received, the Report will be shared with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). No queries would be entertained in relation to your GEP application status at the Passport Offices and PSP Call Centre. You may contact CBP for further updates on the processing of your GEP application.)
@@PushparajKrishnan Hi, it looks like the Indian authorities are trying to say that they can’t help you with ongoing status of your application and the final result will be shared with the CBP straight. This will be a long wait, so you can try following up with CBP after 3-4 months. Although from my experience, you will only get generic replies.
Time saved by enrolling to Global entry: 2 hours
Time spent for the entire process: 20 hours
That's why it makes the most sense if you travel internationally 3-4+ times a year. The membership is also valid for 5 years, so I think the effort becomes justified with that.
I know that you went through with the in-person application process, but do you know anything about the mail application method? I’m specifically trying to figure out what kind of return label I need to provide to VFS. They said it must be prepaid, not fedex, and no expiration. Not sure what most people do and whether I need to include an envelope/package for them to use with that prepaid label.
@@elizanfisher Hi, I cannot say for sure but usually you do need to send a return envelope for such things. This envelope would have your prepaid return label on it and it would go in the envelope that you would use for sending your documents. Have you tried emailing VFS? That would be the ultimate source of truth, I think.
Hi Anisha. Thanks for such a detailed video... I completed my application and submitted my documents via mail. My police verification is also done in India, which is what I heard from my parents. But I dont see any communication from the Passport Seva/Police about completion of Police Verification. Do they not send any notification ? Also, at what stage did you get your documents back from VFS ? Thanks

Regarding your question, there is no notification about the completion of police verification. Your next communication should be the conditional approval, which takes the longest. This is what my experience was.
You don’t get your documents back. They were just copies, so VFS retains them. All you get now is the decision from the CBP.
I registered on this website but did not have the info for the GES/GOES Application ID. How can I get this info?
@@sunnypatel-c3c Hi, what I’ve noticed is that it takes 24 hours from application for this Application ID to get activated. It didn’t take that long in my case but others have reported that for them, it did. The App ID would be the same as indicated on your TTP account. Hopefully it works after 24 hours! I don’t recall getting a specific email with the App ID. I just grabbed it from my TTP account page.

Do we need a green card to apply for the Global Entry program. Can we apply for global entry on an H1 or L1 Visa.
@@abhaygyl1 You do not need a Green Card to apply for Global Entry. However, the process is easier for Green Card holders.
I applied with my H1 visa. Pretty sure the process would be the same for L1 too.
Hi, great video. Do you know if H1B expiry date plays any role in application? My current stamp expires in Dec 2024 but I will eventually get an extension in couple of months so wondering if I should wait until I get the new stamp?
@@lordcthulhu8928 Hi, thank you :) I don’t think H1B expiration date plays a role here. If you change statuses, then you do need to make sure your GE profile reflects the most current status. This is done by seeing an officer in person. To be safe, however, you could see an officer about your new H1B stamp (after you go through GE lanes at an airport, post-approval) and make sure that everything looks good.
thanks for the detailed video, would you mind helping with one question? What documents did the police officer ask for to your parents in India? I have all my documents with me here in the US..
Hello! Happy to help! I think they just check for identity and address proof so if your parents have your Aadhar Card, I think that should suffice. If there is a passbook/checkbook with your name and address, then that could help too. Other than that, the police officer would likely ask basic questions on your whereabouts. You won’t need to present any other key documents that you have with you in the US.

Or would it be better if I apply to global entry after H1B lottery pickup and approval?
Hi! I believe it could be useful if you still have a few years left on your F-1 with the completion of your program and then the OPT period, but I am not 100% sure how the application looks for F-1 folks, so please check the TTP website to be completely sure about eligibility.
Do you know what address to fill for India verification, if parents have moved to a different city versus the address on Aadhar? Is it ok to fill address of parents location, with the risk that they won't have any of my address documents, but will have aadhar for a different city address?

Hi, Thanks for making the video. It is so helpful!! I applied for Global entry on the Trusted Traveller website. Now on the Indian embassy website it is showings as - Entered GES/GOES Application ID or Date of Birth is incorrect or not available with Passport Seva System. Did you face any problem with that?
Hi! I don’t recall facing this problem, but if I have to take a guess, could it be because it takes a few hours for the system to process the app ID? If you try after 24 hours, it might work. Worst case scenario, you can reach out to TTP folks to get this addressed. Good luck!

I’m facing the same problem. After how many days were you able to do it ? Can you throw some light on this ? I completed TTP on 04 aug 2024, but unable to fill the form on the passport portal as I’m getting the same error message
@anisha - thank you for your video it was very helpful. However, I applied for it on Aug 4th, 2024 and I got conditionally approved on Aug 6th, 2024. I haven’t done any step 2 yet on the passport Seva kendra. I’m a permanent resident of the US. Do I have to do step 2 to complete the process or just schedule the interview and go. Don’t I have to do the step 2 and step 3 with VFS I’m already conditionally approved. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you
@@mrkaushal444 Hi, since you are a permanent resident, I don’t think you have to jump through any of those hoops. You got your conditional approval already, so you are good to head to your TTP account and schedule an in-person interview. You should be all set after that!

"Permanent Resident Card number / A number" - Where can i find this? It is not same as USCIS#, right? Is it the last 13 digits on the top line at the back of green card?

If issued before 2023 it is next to USCIS# on the front and for the cards after 2023 first set of numbers(skip alphabets) in machine readable format in the back
Did you get a card ? I heard that if you are not US citizen or PR or Mexican you wont be receiving a card i got approved but i haven't received my card yet
@@ujvalbrahmbhatt535 Hi, I read the same thing. Haven’t received a card but it was a pretty smooth experience going through immigration without the card.
If no card, what do you present at kiosk/immigration officer?
@@lazerbud you don’t need to go to the immigration officer if you have Global Entry. You go to GE lanes, get your picture taken, and that is it. You don’t need to present any documents.
Do global entry includes free tsa precheck while travelled in USA domestically.?
Yes, Global Entry membership makes you eligible to participate in TSA Precheck! Once you are approved, you just need to enter your Global Entry Pass ID in the Known Traveler Number field when booking your flight.

Two years is a long time, I just applied for this in Feb 2024 from india. Hopefully it does not take me two years

I applied March 1st 2024 and June conditionally approved and July attended interview and approved. May be now it's picking up the speed. Hardly 3 to 4 months..

I applied in Feb and got the card in hand in july
I applied in End of July 2023 and got approved in mid July'24

Do we need visa stamp before applyting for global entry? Is it ok it I have I797A while appliying and then attend the in person interview after getting stamped?
Hi! I don’t think you’d need the visa stamp to apply. I applied for it based on my I-797A and after that, I traveled to India to get my visa stamped (my visa had expired and was due for renewal). The approval would anyway take months so I’m guessing you would have gotten your visa by the time you are attending the in-person interview. Hope this helps!

I have submitted the application today and paid fee. I have a trip to India in 30 days, can we get the verification done in india in person and avoid sending docs to vfs here.? If yes, could you please explain process
@@sandeepmaryala2035 Hi, yes, I think you should be able to do that. When you visit Passport Seva portal, you will see an option for doing this while being present in India. You can follow those instructions to continue. I won’t be able to speak to it further than that because I haven’t researched that option or experienced it myself.

@@sandeepmaryala2035 I don’t think there’s an email that gives you the Application ID. Can you not see the app ID on the Trusted Traveler Portal?
I applied at the ttp site and while entering the GOES/GES ID at the indian embassy page (New York) it says it’s incorrect, I’m confused as there are two numbers on the ttp site viz. PASS ID and Application ID.
My question is:
1) which number goes to the indian embassy (Step 2) ?
2) I tried with the application ID and it threw an error saying “application number incorrect, please wait for 24 hours if you have just submitted your application, advise?
3) Should we expect any email in the mailbox? I haven’t received any after submitting my application on ttp.
@@dilawarshaikh7556 Hi! Did you 1) wait 24 hours and try again with the Application ID, or 2) try Pass ID in the GES/GOES ID field? I don’t recall having a problem at this step, so it’s probably just the 24 hour wait that would do it for you too.
I don’t think the email should be a concern if you were able to view the application submission confirmation on the TTP dashboard. I am sure you have a copy of it. If you are concerned, you can email the TTP / CBP folks and get a confirmation from them. Overall, TTP says that they won’t email you updates so you should login and check your account, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
