- As soon as we received our Canadian Oath Ceremony Date, we had to travel to India! So what did we do? We managed to get all our paperwork in place quickly and travelled to India. While in India, we also submitted our Indian passport at a FRACTION OF THE COST!!

You can surrender in your city's RPO. You can check the RPO at the below link

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Did you fill in the Indian passport details while filling the evisa form? The application form asks if one holds a second passport other than the Canadian one.
We selected ‘No’ and did not put Indian passport details as we had no time to surrender before leaving for India.
Thanks for the video! On which website, did u find regional officer name?
Go to the website www.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/rpo and then select the RPO of state whose officer's you would like to view. The RPO site of that state will open and then on top you would see the RTI tab, click on it and a pdf will open, scroll down that pdf and you will see the list of all staff assigned to that RPO. Hope that helps

Applied for 1 year multiple entry e-visa and no exit visa is required. As we entered and exited on Canadian passport with India e-visa. Hope that helps
Hey! Could you tell me if we have to submit a surrender certificate to apply for a entry visa? and did you apply your entry visa through BLS?
No surrender certificate is required for e-visa. E-visa is all online and no need to go through BLS.
Did you apply for OCI WITH surrender certificate or a renunciation certificate required FOR OCI, any research from your end?
No we did not apply for OCI with surrender as for OCI an applicant has to stay in India for a minimum of 6 months and have to get the e-visa converted by visiting the FRRO office.
Can you tell me all the documents you provided?? As did you take appointment prior?? As I am not able to get the appointment online
Have listed all the documents required in the video. Also no appointment is required. You can walk-in to your city's RPO, suggest to reach there at the opening time which is around 10 am.

Is there a possibility to return a passport by mail to an office in India from Canada?
No, please don't mail your original pp to PP office in India. It will not be processed and you might end up misplacing it in the office.
Just quick question .. so its ok to carry indian passport along when travelling to india (within 3 months) after acquiring canadian citizenship. Do we need to show indian passport anywhere ,i mean immigration and let them know we are carrying it ?
Yes its ok to carry Indian pp to India, just don't show it to the Immigration officials. You will need to show the Canadian pp with India e-visa at the Check-in and also at arrivals in India to the Immigration officials.

No, you have to visit your city's RPO and submit in-person.

Could please make a short video on how to get an OCI Card in India?
I received my Citizenship Certificate and my Canadian passport was issued by the High Commission in New Delhi as I'm currently staying in India and it has been more than 6 months.
Please guide me on how to apply for an OCI card from within India. I'm going to surrender my Indian passport. I have received my Canadian passport. Do I need to get some kind of a visa or I can straightaway apply for the OCI Card?

Thanks. Apologies but we came back to Canada and applied for our OCI card. If you are in India you will need to visit the FRRO office and get your e-visa converted to X1 visa and stay for a minimum of 6 months before you can apply for OCI in India. Hope that helps

Can you pay fees at the RPO?
No, the fee has to be paid online and you have to take a printout of the confirmation at the time of visiting the RPO.
Can the passport be surrendered in Passport Seva Kendra?
No, the Passport has to be surrendered only in the city's RPO (Regional Passport Office)

Hi, we visited India on e-visa so we were not eligible to apply for OCI from India. We came back and applied for OCI in Canada, we have now received the OCI as well.

You can still use indian passport for 3 months after getting foreign citizenship as per ministry of external affairs
