Oh dude, what about the Seattle 89 version of this? With James baring his fucking teeth and Jason throwing his head in a circle like a madman...... DUDE. Literal goosebumps head to toe. I'm 29, got in trouble for singing enter sandman during lunch everyday in 1st grade. Parents took me to Crüe when I was 10 in 05. I live and breathe rock and metal. Now beings I just foundnthat live performance a few months ago, maaaaan. Let me tell ya how silly I feel for overlooking it, but oh so fucking happy to know MY kinda headbanging existed way before my generatkicked in. It brings my heart joy to know that sort of wild, EXPLOSIVE, MOTHER FUCKIN RAW energy was displayed to the older generations.i have soooooooooooooo much more respect for the perfect yet So unexpected stage presence you guys witnessed literally the birth of modern thrash stage presence..... no.... modern thrash ATTITUDE. that put yall in like God tier to me hahahaha

In the Netflix doc you can see the crowd going absolutely bonkers with the Nu-Metal bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit, not so much here, only goes to show classic Metal was out of fashion at the time. Still, great performance here, apparently Lars could still resemble a good drummer.

This was the 3rd encore. People didn’t expect them to come out a 2nd and then a 3rd time so they started leaving. I was pretty far out but thanks to that by the time Battery started I was 50 feet from the stage.

There was barely any mention of Metallica in that doc. I recall only a single 5 seconds-ish scene in which Kirk (during an interview at the festival) makes a tongue-in-cheek comment about how Woodstock became a capitalist venture. I don't know if the filmmakers reached out for more statements. They probably tried to call Fred Durst. Imagine how hilarious that would have been.
