Was there section 337. The energy of that crowd was something else. Weird as it may be the show was therapy for me after losing my father a month ago. He turned me on to metal and rock at a young age. Thank you Metallica for helping a damaged soul to heal. Forever a fan. R.I.P DAD
Sorry for your loss
🙏🙏🙏
Sorry to hear that friend
Sorry for your loss my brother, the show was definitely therapy for me as well, metallica has gotten me through or played a role in keeping me sane through very tough times, much love to you and your family rock on brother🙏🏼🤘🏻🤘🏻
Making me cry man! 🥺💚☮️🤘

Never have I seen my father happier than he was at this concert. So I glad he shared his love of metal with me
Kreator
My dad went to his first Metallica concert with me on the death magnetic tour when he was in his early 60s. He then went to the Hardwired concert with me and they played almost every song that he likes by them. I was so happy for him.
This is so good to hear some BASS on Blackened!
As a bassist, I have to say: I concur.
Ahem , hello bass players are not artist and second thing you have no right to say anything because you bass players are middle child . You guys got no value .
I didn’t really expect blackened or lightning at this show, but suffice to say it took me almost three days to fully get my voice back 🤘
Same! Saw them Sunday and I'm STILL hurting. Hurts so good 🤘🏼
I've luckily got to hear blackened in one of my 3 shows. I've seen them in 08 in omaha nebraska, 17 in Newton Iowa, 18 in Lincoln Nebraska. And they played blackened in 17 in Newton Iowa. But another cool one was they played unforgiven 3 in Lincoln when I seen them. That was sick.
I was there too. Same here with hearing those songs. And getting back my voice lol.
@@christinavthatsme8843 yeah it looks like you got a kickass show down your way also!
Same dude 😂
Crazy how much healthier and more energetic James is compared to 2019. Voice sounds healthier too, even if he doesn’t have the range he once did. Still puts on a fucking great show. I hope i’m still able to do something even 1/10th as demanding as this when I’m his age.
actually he got more range than ever. he lost grit in his voice but his range on this tour is impressive.
Ikr. He looks great and sound great as well. ❤️❤️
@@larryb4598 i ain’t falling for this bait. Have a great dang day bud
Seriously. At the S&M2 shows he looked and sounded like he was in pain. You could tell he wasn’t in a good place mentally or physically.
@@saiyajedi I was at night 1 of S&M2 and I have to agree, even though I’m glad I got to see it.
Blackened is one of my all time favorites and I literally lost it when I heard the intro! Incredible song, incredible night!!!
IK I was hoping that they would play it, on the set list it didn't say but then I heard the intro and I lost my shit
It’s my favorite of theirs
I lost my shit when they played this I’m so happy this is my favorite song 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Jason Newsteed wrote intro riff
I seen them in pittsburg last Sunday, it was fucking awesome
By far the best song ever. Remember the day I bought the cassette and went home and played it in my boom box. Im 50 now and l can still listen to this song everyday.
Vamos METALLICA 🤘🎶🖤
Good mourning black friday
yup, i'm 52...in my my top 5 metallica songs for sure!!! cheers all!!!
So many songs are like this. I am 26 but I'll be listening to the same songs when I'm 50.
Nice, I tell my staff that I pretty much listen to justice daily, awesome
My 12th show in 22 years, and I brought my 14 year old daughter this time for her first show. I hope you guys keep doing this as long as you can!
Now that's being a great parent right there 👍🏻 👏🏼 🤘🏼
i’m 14 and i want to go to a show SO bad, i really hope they tour again soon near me💔
Awesome! Carry on the tradition.
Can wait to bring my 14 year old niece to metallica. She grew up with me blasting her with metallica
Brought my 14 year old son for his first concert ever. He loved it!
Finally “Blackend” came back on the set list!!!
I think the Blackened opener is my fav, i get shivers everytime The spotlight hits james and he starts going off on the riff. The 89 Seattle show and the Nimes france show are two of the shows i repeat the most and the feel is so good.
Just like their concert at Nîmes in 2009, seeing James taking position and then blowing the living shit of his guitar with this riff in this Roman arena.. never gets old!
James's downpicking is like a bee's wings fluttering, or a spaceship the speed of light, or a god's skill displayed for the mindless people to behold.
Our peasent minds have cannot fathom such power
My late Dad would have loved this collaboration!!!! Hell yeah baby!!!!
Hello, how are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
Metallica is an American treasure and should be cherished. The fact that they've been doing this for almost a HALF CENTURY is mind boggling. They won't be around forever, but aren't showing signs of slowing...
One of my favorite Metallica songs. I always liked live versions back in the late 80s- early 90s when Jason did backup vocals and in his monstrous voice yell "FIRRRRREEEEEE"
Can we start a petition to ask Metallica if they can let Kirk play the whole solo whenever they play this song? Please guys! We all love this song so much! Play the WHOLE song! It only adds like 30 seconds to the song, there is no reason to cut it out, it is one of your best songs! Please! Thank you
This was my first metallica concert ever. Definitely was long overdue.
Lucky
Welcome to the club!
Thank you everyone. I mean I've been a fan since I was 7. "One" was the first metal song I ever heard and introduced me to the vast, expanding world of metal. It's also the back patch on my vest I started back in 2014.
Same!
The Justice tour was my first Metallica concert ever. And I think they opened it with this song, but I admit it's a little hard to remember after 33 years.
I haven't seen them since 2007.. I was in section 143... great seats.... and the fact that the full moon rose above the stage was incredible!!!
That sounds amazing 🤘
Dude I was there too the moon was beautiful
BEST. BAND. EVER .
There is no doubt about it.
Yes
Just amazing how they still rocks after 4 decades! It took me months to learn this song and I'm more amazed because he sings at the same time. What a rocker!
Rock*
@@Taxable_Trophy No
Dude, EVERYTHING about this was amazing. Rob just absolutely RIPS through this song like the beast he is, Kirk's rhythm playing is TIGHTER THAN EVER, and James just totally kicks the crowds asses with those chugs. Everytime they play this song, the planet shifts, it's so epic
Exodus
I’ve been real critical of Lars in the past but I’ve got to give it up to him because he has been playing outstanding the last year or two. I mean it’s a very noticeable improvement. Meter is much more solid. He’s put some practice time in for sure. At his age, with this physically demanding music and long shows, that level of drumming stamina is very impressive.
I know right? Maybe all that hate made him think that maybe there is some truth to his drum skills decay. :D He definitely practiced.
He has been playing wonderfully since hardwired came out in 2016
@@BrandoRando667 he wasnt playing well in 2019 but he is definetly a much better drummer now
Yeah man no more random fills and shit
He still sux idc he never plays like the album and can’t do double bass for shit
Hetfeild has been on top form this year. Dude is killing it
@dolita windo 100% true
The bass is at the perfect level in the mix, enough to hear it through the guitars but not taking them from their spotlight
That reversed intro never gets old, so energetic!
The fact these dudes have been playing for basically 40 years and still putting on massive shows like this is something else. God tier
In my opinion this is one of the greatest Metallica song, ever, because it has everything (like most of there songs), slower but in the same time very heavy tempos, thrash tempos, fast and great guitar solos and so on, and all your senses go up and down at full speed when you listen this masterpiece...
One of the best live versions I have heard in a while. I like the tuning on this version too. Has a little more punch to it.
Definitely NO.
The most beautiful intro of all time!!
@J Slikbeer Why Newsted??
@J Slikbeer It sounds great even played forward. You can check on RUclips.
@J Slikbeer Agree.
When I see people's already like Metallica more nowadays..it give me a prideness to my soul.
It seems like Metallica is the king of metal music that had been recognised all over the world now!
As it's been said over and over, this performance is outstanding. I don't think i've seen such a clean live performance of this song. This performance finally did it justice for me. just purely on point.
The fact that they’re still playing this and it sounds this good is mind blowing 🤘
I took my son to this show, the energy there was incredible!! 🔥
🥰
One of the best Metallica song in my opinion
Damn Metallica has been sounding so fucking amazing recently!!! Hope Papa Het is in a peaceful place right now.
Yeah.
Why your comment sounds like he just died.. XD
Well he's going through a divorce now
@@utu_be What?! You’re kidding! 😳
@@utu_be oh shit… I didnt know
This has got to be the most difficult of their songs to play live
You can see the tension in Lars face
@@derdampfhammer6652 kirk couldn't nail his own solo to his originality
@@Cslimo4you actually, they now play it like that, so they don't have to get to the strange drums part
I think ...And Justice for All and The Shortest Straw are harder (hence why they haven't played them live in so long).
@@SigTheSauceMan didnt think of those two
Yes! I was at this concert and was so happy they played Blackened! First song of encore set
First album I ever bought and yes it was casette, become fan immediately and will be till I die.🤘
...and justice for all is the Best Album from Metallica!!!
I was 9 years old when my soon to be step-dad moved in... helped him with his boxes n stuff moving in and there was one box that was open that was filled with CD's and on top was ...And Justice For All. Changed my young life and everything to come. Favourite metal album of all time.
Glad they played this song, Justice is one of my favorite Metallica albums. The band has been sounding good lately, look forward to see them in the future.
Don’t get me wrong blackened is an an insane song but seeing and listening to this in person was something i wish i could explain to someone.
Thank you so much Metallica for playing this song at my first Metallica concert!!🤘🏼
Congratulations 🎊
Shit, my jaw dropped as soon as James started playing, that guitar tone is menacing!
Nearly 60 years old and still amazing!
They should play Blackened as the first song in the setlist everytime they do a live concert.
@@Racar420 In this tour the setlist begins always with Whiplash, check in their social medias where they post everytime the setlist of the city where they did the live show. Also they played Blackened as one of the 3 last songs (the last ones are One and Master), in my case in Italy they played Damage Inc instead of Blackened, another amazing song... one of my fav.
Blackened with bass , oh my goodness!
❤️🔥 Blackened has more power, more expression, more emotions in a song when anything else I know of you. And this has been the case for over 34 years. How do you do that? Guys, i have my deepest respect. Awesome. 😎🤘🏻🇩🇪

My favorite Met song. I completely lost my shit when the intro started playing that night. Absolutely insane energy.
Went with both my kids, it was my sons first concert. He was bouncing while walking to the car after the show. My daughter, not really a fan of metal, still loved the show. I saw Metallica in 1989 and 1992. Still killing it. Loved every second of this show.
I still miss Jason in the band. He really did out a metal edge to the band and his backup vocals ripped!
I screamed like crazy when I heard the intro at the show, glad they played this!
So did I i went insane at this concert 🤘🏻
did some serious head banging for this one.. what a great show!
wicked concert
greatest night of my life
That fire was hot as hell up near the stage. Been a fan since I was a kid/raised on this kinda music and this was the first time seeing them for me. Best night of my life.
takes me back to 87 when i saw metallica at the spectrum in philly, the cult opened for them. the cult was playing and someone in the audience threw a beer bottle and hit the singer in the head, he jumped in the crowd and beat the shit out of the guy. they halted the concert and said no more throwing things. the cult was good, then metallica opened with this song and the place exploded, greatest concert ever, at midnight james said are you all tired?! the crowd said no, then they played another five songs, those were the days man. tough days but great concerts.
Awesome version! They cut the solo short though, one of the best parts of the song!
The solo and the cool riff variations that follow it, yeah.
Was at this show in front of the screen to the right. Was going through a lot at the time, so this concert was a HUGE breath of fresh air. Good times.
their music saved my life many times over and still does will be a fan for life
I've felt a stronger connection with this band every August for 35 years.
Sold out stadiums worldwide and in great shape after 40 years….
Their just in another level
Wow James suddenly sounds a LOT like he did in 2008-09, a lot more power in his cleans than he's had in a few years. His voice keeps gettin better and better again. Soon he might even sound as good as he did in late '16, that was insane.
Hetfields voice is amazing here. He's been killing it lately!!
First Metallica concert I went to. Absolutely amazing. I definitely recommend going to one if you haven’t.
Best show opening track.🖤
Sounded just as great as back in the And Justice For All tour!!! Fan since the 80’s and still amazed by them all the time!!!! True Legends!!!!!
Hahaha. No chance it did
if the drummer wasnt lars than yea it sounds better
Kirk cannot do the solo anymore
And half of the second part of the solo is missing.
@@jjohnson6514 I dont know why 🤷😢
❤️ this album always have
Hello, how are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
Рада очень ,что любимая моя Металлика даёт концерты,рвет всех просто,Джеймс своим космическим голосом, и парни гитарами и ударником!!!
Australia 🇦🇺 especially me, We are still waiting for our 2019 gig that was cancelled!
EMPTINESS IS KILLING ME 🖤
That was my first Metallica concert ever. I live in the far north of Alaska city called Utqiagvik, Ak formerly called Barrow, Ak. My friend brought me all the way to that place Buffalo, NY. I have to say that it was fricken awesome!! Wish i can relive the event.
God fucking damn that has to be one of the most badass live riff in history
I cant continue my life without metallica
I make this clear BEST BAND EVER
I was on the floor! Center center! You could feel the heat coming off those Flames at the back bar. Incredible show man wish I could go back!!
I was section 101 about middle and feel the heat. Awesome concert!!
Felt the 🔥 from Section 109. Best concert ever!
2:25 one of the best song bridges EVER
James' vocals are on par with the original sound track. Awesome.
Oh man the bass from 2:30 to 4:54 is *chef’s kiss*. That section is one of my favorite moments from that album, just sounds so nice here.
I listened so much to these guys over the years that I stopped listened for like 3 years. But last week I couldn't help it. I felt I needed to listen to Metallica, now I'm going all over their discography every single day. And lately, it's the only thing that makes me feel peaceful! \m/
Same here. Mainly lost track after Death Magnetic (although I did listen to HW once or twice), but these new shows are something totally out of this world. They give me the same energy burst Metallica used to give me in late 90s/early 00s.
5 rows back in the crowd for this whole concert, absolutely recommend seeing Metallica
Was at this show and my 7th time seeing them. Didn’t expect to be treated to Blackened but they rocked it as usual. They never ever disappoint
“METAL FAITH”
Our Blackened, Metallica! ♥️
That bass around the four minute mark was awesome.
Hearing that BASS makes me happy 😉
This was not the first Metallica song I heard, but this is the song that made me a fan :)
This is pure power.
Incredible. Everyone sounded great. I’m really kicking myself for not going to this show now
back in 1998 I was 11 years old a friend put on "Ride the Lightning". I turned to him and asked "what is this? Are ALL their songs like this?". My friend nods and we listened to ride the lightning over and over. Been a fan ever since.
never have i listened such a clean blackened performance for a very long time!
close your eyes, and at some points it does sound like it comes straight from 89. these guys are sounding radder than they have in years
It’s pretty incredible these dudes can still play this song like this.
Metallica forever!👍🤘🤘🤘
I was so glad to see this live blackened is one of my favorite songs
This song makes the end of the world feel so cool!
Forever Time Stamp memory hearing this in 88 blast out of the stereo speakers at 15 years old. Something changed that day.
I always wanted to go to a metallic concert one day I will lol✌️🇺🇸💜
Hello, how are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
I was there! That shot of the crowd from the stage pov is wild.
This was the most badass night I was at the front gate screaming my lungs out! The chills were insane!! We managed to come home with 3 picks!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Was on the floor for this amazing show. Came all the way from Albuquerque, NM with my 15yo Son the see Metallica and the Bills. Please come back to New Mexico soon.
That bass 🔥
Metallica is still rocking🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
