- Hello everybody,
I saw this on Beta 1 changes:
- Improved combat behavior of fighters armed with guided missiles or torpedos.
So, I run a few tests, this being the first, with my choice for boron S bomber being the Irukandji.
Conclusions:
- this update pretty much ended the Irukandji role as a bomber, the improved behavior mean that: one, they no longer use their speed to catch up with an L ship on the move, second, they linger near the xenon K and get killed by the turrets. I lost 5 Irukandji from 40 to a K, and that almost never happen before.
Welp, if nothing changes, RIP solo Shark gameplay.
In my next tests I will see how my other bomber of choice, the Chimera, will perform.
About me:
I like to share my X4 Foundations experiences, some because they are really amazing, some because they are really anoying.

Feel free to post your own save files related to these issues.
This behavior pattern is the behavior of a heavily armed combat helicopter targeting multiple small targets.
Throwing firepower like this at a large fortress would be suicidal.
Adding patterns is welcome, but application is disappointing.
If a torpedo bomber is dealing with a large target, it would be most appropriate to use speed to fire and then break away.
"If a torpedo bomber is dealing with a large target, it would be most appropriate to use speed to fire and then break away." - Exactly.
Attack helicopters tend to not be good at avoiding turret fire.🤨
@@ragnos28 I just noticed the egosoft forum thread was updated with the note that the helicopter attack pattern is a known issue and not an (intended) part of the improvements.
@@Troubleshooter11 Yeah, I saw. That's reassuring.
Welp, waiting for the next beta then, hope they do more testing next time around
I remember this behaviour when missile-only ran out of ammo (or no missile type was selected).
Even then fighters would not stand like a deer caught in headlights.
Oh well, even the devs admited that this behavior is a bug they investigate.
Why did it degenerate?
Oh, the speed was so fast that the action ended before locking on.
I had to rewind a bit...errr...I don't think that was supposed to happen.
Wtf😢
When they say improved, it usually means a massive nerf
Will you tell Egosoft about this?
Yeah, just getting the save file and clips ready.
