X4 Foundations: 7.0 Beta 5 - The most OP race fleet the player can field

  • Hello everybody,
In this one, I make use of a fleet that I don't deploy often, because of how absurdly OP it is, an Asgard lead, terran fleet.
I would argue that this is the most powerful force "our side" can field, in all the history of sci-fi. Can you imagine a ship like the Asgard existing in Star Trek, BSG, the Expanse, Star Wars, Warhammer, etc? The Asgard appears, enemy fleet appears, the Asgard target the opposing admiral ship ... buzzz .... boom ...yay, for humanity....written and directed by......., end of the show. :D
So much for race balance in the X4 universe, lol. Guess is the reason why CoH, I suspect, is the DLC that have the most sales in the history of X games DLCs. :D
It is well known , that for most players, when it comes to fleet combat strategy, nothing beats the good ol' "Asgard smash". Well, until that nasty mission to destroy a VIG station, for those that have ToA, that show what would happen if the factions would make use of torpedoes just a little bit, but after that is bussines as usual. :)
At least, our good "friend", the AI, stop terran owned Asgards, to steamroll the entire X4 universe, even tho, if the player choose the story options that lead to war between the terrans and other races (and not hinder the terrans advance), it is still a steamroll . :P
That being said, do enjoy one of the rare ocassions when my terran fleet is not gathering space dust near my shipyard. :D
    About me:
I like to share my X4 Foundations experiences, some because they are really amazing, some because they are really anoying.
Like the video? Why not buy me a coffee?

You should do a playthrough bro, I'd really like to see your angle on how you play this game. My main struggle is getting to were your at now cause by the time I EVEN get started with a fleet that is noteworthy either the HOP or Xenon have taken over the maps, pretty frustrating actually lol.

The thing is, I don't like to start over, in 4.7k hours, I only have 3 starts, an argon one and 2 terran. I have a strong "why be sick and poor, when you can be healthy and rich" policy. 😋 That is why, my version of a custom start is a save file from the time I've first filled my Raptor with 100 Chimera. 😁
For early money making, I mostly take protect miners missions with a fighter, along with terran vs xenon, deliver ships missions, some can be as easy as delivering 1 Falx and 4 fighters and the reward is always the ships value + 50%, so even if you buy them from the shipyard, there is still profit.
As for fleets, early game, all money go towards getting the wharf BP, so that you can build fighters. At least, that is moment I involve myself in any meaningful large fleet action.
Until then try to get a powerfull destroyer, like the Syn (either via bording or terran plot), or board an Asgard. For the Asgard, in theory, you just need an M ship and an L trader full of marines, some players claim that they get one in just 4 hours from the start.

Except is slow, vulnerable to its only engine being blown up, and even a xenon N firing can drop it from travel drive. About the last one, I took a mission to destroy a xenon station once, at 300 km away, and it took me 1 hour to reach the location, because a constant stream of small xenon craft keept preventing me from engaging travel drive.
Much prefer a super carrier with full fighter complement, a lot more tactical flexibility.

@@ragnos28 I agree, those dropping you out of travel can be highly annoying. But with a full Terran beam setup (even the L turrets, which would be useless on any other ship), i cleared the sector of those pesky flies pretty soon. And after that there was barely any interruption.
You just have to clear the initial swarm fast enough.
I still have the OP main gun for everything else, just have to check the map to see if any capital is coming, because yeah, the asgard turns slow too.

While Asgard has the most devastating weapon in the game, it has never been the most devastating ship in the game. You can do much better than an Asgard and any of the subperforming terran L and XL ships (other than Syn, that is the single best Terran ship ever, period)
That said, there are two XL ships that vastly outperform Asgard in literally every aspect except for main gun power (mostly because they have none)
If you want survivability, Shark is literally invincible, but needs S class support to swat those pesky Ks and Is
If, however, you crave absolute domination by wielding the ultimate powerhouse, get acquainted with the mighty Raptor. You will never go back to the underperforming Asgard.
Bring this little baby to a fight and the only thing that will be left of your enemies is space dust.
What's that, I hear you say? Asgard can kill a K in under 2 seconds.
While that might be true, you need to first turn that bad boy to actually face the K head on (oh good luck trying to get an AI to do that). The Raptor on the other hand can single handedly (I mean it, no supports) kill a full Xenon battlegroup I2K without breaking a sweat. Now let's see you do that in Asgard.
Now add those supports (121 of them) and you are looking at a force that can clear a Xenon sector in one swift move, twice as quickly as Asgard ever could.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Asgard, I really do. But you can't compare it to Raptor, you really can't.

    • @ragnos28
      @ragnos28  4 месяца назад

Oh, I agree with your assessment. And all familiar with my channel knows that I'm all about Raptor supremacy.😁
And I do have some relevant combat scenarios tests for the Asgard and the Raptor:
      - initial test for the Asgard: ruclips.net/video/jYJUw9uavzg/видео.html
      - same scenario test for the Raptor: ruclips.net/video/1ds6Law5FEs/видео.html
      - second test for the Asgard, employing my best tactics: ruclips.net/video/dVsOtMrBUOc/видео.html
So, I can win the scenario with the Asgard as well, just need a lot of tricks, while the Raptor with fighter complement have a much easier time.
Then again, the Asgard can pull absurd things like this: ruclips.net/video/KlbGiqHdwrk/видео.html
and even more absurd : ruclips.net/video/6_oUlmhifI4/видео.html with the short burt trick.
Things like these are the reason my Asgards (never had the need to have more that 2 per game) tend to gather space dust. Because it kills any joy I might have from fleet combat, no tactics required, just buzzz...
I don't agree on AI controled Raptor with no escorts being such a powerhouse. The AI in X4 is the great equaliser, all ships get the "dumb and dumber" treatment, and Raptor under AI control is more likely to behave like so: ruclips.net/video/KAvEZjb-FKE/видео.html hell, even the point that I was making with that clip was that split as faction should focus on building fighters (VIG style), in order to not get wiped by the xenon, in almost every start, w/o the player intervention, not on building Raptors.
When it comes to the Raptor under AI control, where it really shines, is when you have bombers and interceptors under launch condition. In that instance, its superiority over the Asgard is more evident. For example, I can take an Raptor, take it in the middle of my most heavily defended xenon sector in my game, select launched status for my usual 60 bombers 40 interceptors, leave the game runing, go for a walk in a park for an hour, come back, and that Raptor and most of its escorts would still be there. While an AI controled Asgard could die to a single xenon K that comes from above. Against capitals, I can trust an AI controled Asgard as far as I can throw it. 😜
The Asgard has many weaknesses, compared to the Raptor:
      - small craft can prevent you from going to travel drive, which is a problem when you try to kill that defence station that is 300 km away, while small craft engage you as soon as you enter the sector. So, you must stop, kill the small craft, try to enter travel drive, get pew pew again, stop again..and so on. While with the Raptor...small craft tend to not last for long, to prevent travel drive.
      - if the Asgard lose its engine, and a K is coming...welp, its scrap. But if the Raptor has its birds around, a blown engine does not mean squat, its "birds" will kill anything around.
That being said, a player controled Asgard, can mitigate those weaknesses, by using deployables like LTs.
So, in conclusion, I do prefer the Raptor over the Asgard, especially if I give it its full fighter complement, hell I don't even need to exceed the capacity, 100 fighters are just fine, for any combat scenario I might encounter. But Asgard is a solid second, because it can reduce any number of capital ships the xenon can muster to the field in wrecks in seconds. Bonus, is absurdly easy and consequences free is to board an Asgard, some players claim to able to do this in just 4 hours from the start (not happy with that myself, imo, Asgards should self-destruct when borded, does not make sense to gain a game end ship, when you just start the game, but single player game, what do you care what other ppl do in their game...etc), while it takes time to develop the infrastructure to fill a Raptor with fighters (which, imo, makes it more fulfilling when you achieve it).

Also, that save slot is also my version of a custom start, lol. 😋
Unfortunately, you can't help the xenon directly. I've made my xenon strong: ruclips.net/video/M0wWo_GEch4/видео.html by dismantling my defence station in Familly Zhin and not allowing terrans to build ships at my shipyard. Also, I choose the "bad" option in the Yaki plot, because the xenon sectors that they want cleared are some highly productive sectors for the xenon. Lost the chance to get the Moreya BP, but gain strong xenon.😁
The beta, with the new xenon ships, seem to have increased small ship production for the xenon: ruclips.net/video/UECz2yneZ30/видео.html so, maybe beta can revive your xenon.🤔

I encounted my first asguard the other day.. It soloed and entire xenon system. It had 4 destroyers with it. Those didn't even make it to the first base. I went back to the system like 2 days later and it was still just destroying everything. Hundreds of dead fighters made a line where it had been flying. I made SO MUCH money just sitting on the edge of the battle then flying it to collect all the loot. Like Im still pretty new at this game, and I made about 30 million just from scraps the asguard was leaving behind. (yeah I know 30m not much, but thats a lot for me so far lol)Now im using all that to build my first large factory complex.

    • @ragnos28
      @ragnos28  4 месяца назад

I have strong xenons and my save is an old one, so the intervention Asgards in my game tend to not make it far in the xenon sectors...which is fine for me. Back in the day, version 5.0, if memory serves me, the Asgard was basically invincible OOS, and was forced to kill them myself or port IS, to save my remaining xenon. 😋 Now, the OOS calculations are more balanced, and they will die w/o my intervention being required.
About your plans to build your large factory complex, remember that you can steal production modules BP with emp bombs, in order to avoid spending your starting cash getting those. Alternatively, you can use your 30kk to get started on some terran vs xenon deliver fleet missions, small ones, like delivering 1 falx and 4 fighters, the reward is always the ships values + 50%, so even if you buy them from the faction shipyard, you can still make a profit, and use that profit to complete new fleet delivery missions and so on.
Factories require a rather big initial investment, and takes a while to them to recover that investment.

Yeah right go to Warhammer 40K: Asgard would suddenly become Ragnarok as it exploded into a million pieces because there are the Necrons, Imperium, Chaos, Orks, Tau, Eldar, Tyranids, and much more, Halo: there's the Covenant Lance Canons, UNSC Railguns, Forerunner Hardlight and Singularity Beam.
Star Wars yeah the Asgard would probably dominate that Universe since the Asgard can Shoot first and Shoot far, but heavy dis-advantage in FTL Tech because there's no Gateway System in Star Wars and Asgard has a slower FTL than in Star Wars.
Star Trek is a bit tricky since in comparison to X4 Foundation and Star Trek Technological level gap, Star Trek has way more advanced tech and their power generation is quite good. Their shielding system is modular as it is adaptable since it can change wavelengths and frequencies to cater to changing battlefield situations. Every faction has them, while X4 Foundation, on the other hand, may have an energy shield but is typically like any other sci-fi energy shielding tech. Star Trek weapons could also change wavelength and frequencies to bypass shields.
Star Gate yeah right Asgardian energy shields may not be as modular or adaptable as Star Trek but heck they are durable as it is strong thanks to their multiple power core powering their techs, then theirs the Toilet Ships of the Ori, their ships are powered practically by a Psuedo Singularity without the Gravitational Distortion Field of a Black Hole, an Infinite power source that feeds their main and sub weapons and their energy shields, The Lanteans have also quite good Energy Shielding Tech but not as good as the Asgardian counterpart but they have an OP Drone Torpedoes that would slap Asgard Heavy Armors like it's not there.
BSG definitely would be a massacre in that Universe but BSG has a major advantage as it could instantly teleport across space to get away quickly.
So Terran be damn, not all Sci-Fi verse this ships could fit in the well of be toyed like a toy, Like the Xeelee and the Downstreamers for example.
I know u mentioned a bunch of words sarcastically, and I know u must be a HARDCORE Fan of Huminity Fock Yeah! But it's better to understand every ScienFfictional World has its own advantages and disadvantages, but to make a comparison without comprised is just wrong. So make sure u read deep into each and every lore and understand that not all that u see, is what u get.
TBH there are a lot more Sci-Fi Ships that could curb stomp this ship without fail because some sci-fi ships are built to be dreadnought with way more weapons of different sizes all over the hull and way more advanced weapons installed and way larger than the Asgard but still classified it as Destroyer Class even though it is multiple kilometers in sized, so Humanity Fock Yeah, will become Humanity Your Screwd.

Do any of the ships in the franchises you mentioned have one shot assured destruction of any admiral ship of any fleet it might encounter? Because this is what the Asgard does, apply the most powerfull first strike available, with a weapon that is, quoting from the ship's description, "In terms of raw single-shot damage, it is currently the most powerful gun in the known universe.".
In short, if you are leader of a fleet facing an Asgard, you better be in the smallest ship in the fleet, because if you are in the biggets ship...you will not last long. Its only vulberability are S torpedo bombers, will die to those, but will kill the carrier that launch them.
