Same. I heard this on Philly public radio when it came out. Googled them and realized that I also knew When My Time comes. these guys are full of good lyrics, catchy tunes that aren't predictable. one of my favorite bands.
Was a road warrior for 25 years. When I hear this song I think of flying into Houston before Christmas on some endless business trip. I see the swimming pools and the rivers and the freeways and the Christmas lights on the houses. I feel so disconnected to the world. I decide then and there to get off the road. That was 10 years ago. Every time I hear this song, I think of that moment, and that decision. Best decision EVER! When an excellent song perfectly captures a pivotal moment in your life, it kinda blows you away. Thanks Dawes!
Just got back from Atlanta visiting my son. Don’t wish Atlanta airport on anyone. Great song just wish they let the bass guitar threw it around a little more. Merry Christmas buddy
Dawes music can be rather unpretentious, except it has a tendency to really grab you and show you some true greatness when you least expect it. Don't get me wrong, I truly love this band. I think they are flat out fantastic most of the time.
"Rather unpretentious" is a fairly pretentious way to put it. How would we get you wrong? Would we be taking "rather pretentious" incorrectly as a dig? Or their tendency to grab you unexpectedly to show you greatness? They are great though, ain't they?
I have dreams of my father talking to me in times of trouble. He always calms me down...I’m sure he’s looking down at me & thinking how useless worrying really is. This video has that kind of a feel to it.
I wouldn’t go that far.... yes it’s reminiscent of that era but not quite that caliber to compete with the Dire Straits, zepelins and Steely Dans, Doors etc I can go on
@@feny8 This band is better than The Doors. The Doors is a great singles band, but they don't have that single album that's great start to finish, unlike Dire Straits, Zeplin, Pink Floyd, etc...
it makes me think of back in the day when you would hear a song on the radio but the disc jockey would not say the name of it and you would just wait around to hear it again so you could find out what it was.
"They are pointing out the exits, but it looks more like a prayer Or an ancient dance their bloodline reaches through These planes are built for sifting through the warriors from the men I've got time to sit and watch them for a while . . . " Just. Wow. Outstanding. Great words and story. I love the stream of consciousness feel of this song. Oh--and I hate flying too, Taylor (should you read this--ever). When I have no other choice and have to board one, I either sit away from the window or I close it and I tell my seatmate that I'm on a bus. People think it's funny, but it keeps the panic attacks at bay.
I'm 28 and listen to almost all hip hop and country. Saw them live last night at hardly strictly only because I'm helping my dad get around this year, it might be his last. This song was so infectious. There were groups of young and old people dancing. I was a fan instantly.
Just discovered this song on german radio in my car (feb. 2024). What a groove and what lyrics... makes me smile and gives me goosebumps at the same time. Awesome song. Can't stop listening to it.
for some reason this song makes me think of back in the day when you would hear a really great song on the radio but the DJ would not say who it was or what the name of the song was so you ended up just waiting to hear it again.
It's starting to happen more and more, I lose my focus. Trying to write and nothing seems to fit. Whenever that happens I look back at what got me inspired in the first place, put on some Dawes, or my favorite: Somewhere along the way, pink house sessions. Everything seems to come back then. Thank you for making such great music. Know that it means a lot, to a lot of people.
The absurdity of thinking we know what we’re actually dealing with…. We’ve defined so many, many things according to our understanding. Don’t stop trying to understand, but don’t let it dominate your very living. Understanding comes to us as we go about the business of living our lives, but the news gets better if we are living according to our calling, our God given purpose.
It is not. I have seen his dad up close when he came on stage at a concert (I was lucky enough to be standing in the front row). Side note: his dad in an incredible singer
Lyrics are uncreative, sounds like just a guy talking. Monotone singing. "I sat down in my seat and the plane takes off I look at the sky I go to the mens room etc". Instruments, especially the drums, sound they're done on a Casio.
Those are great studio musicians in what that drummer is doing is very difficult. Same for the guitar and keyboard and bass it's very difficult to control instruments like that apparently you just don't know this
Yeah you're an a hole is what the problem is,, The Daweser is a badazz songwriter and excellent vocalist and a pretty good guitar player,, and if ya don't like it,, too bad...
Remains their best track. It was love at first listen and continues to give me goosebumps!
Agreed!

The bongo break on this is one of the greatest moments in Latin Percussion history
You’ve got good ears…

Yeah. First time I heard this song I felt the same way.
That's awesome, songs can change our lives!

Still bummed you never won a championship.

"If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there." This group blows me away with their songwriting.

this is like the best song from the 70's that you never heard before. instant classic.
I thought it WAS a 70's song until I looked it up.

Brilliant songwriting and musicianship. This is great stuff. Reminds me of early Eagles...
And there guys: ruclips.net/video/ii7fg_iKDBQ/видео.html

Dawes is kind of this same genre, evolved.
Solid tune. Solid band.
Always come back to this song

Excellent comment. I'm there with you.
Danke Deutschlandfunk (DLF) Radio Show 14.03.21 for presenting me this great Song and Band! ♥️👍🏻
cause when you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there.
damn, that's some good stuff!
Truly, a timeless song. I am amazed constantly, by this number. As a musician of twenty plus years, a true "go to song"... Always.
I'm addicted to this song now

Slice of reality!
I just saw them do this song a couple nights ago in Denver. They killed it!

gawd! my all time favorite Dawes

I cannot understand why there is not a at least 2.7MM views vs 2.7k. Great song/story/video
Because Dawes is boring AF?
Badass lyrics and an awesome riff... cheers
I love this. I liked Dawes before, but I really really like them now.
Like a new age Dire Straits song. Clean solo!
Mert Özel Music I agree, I noticed this particularly because it had that old 70s type sound
Heard this for the first time last night. I thought the very same thing! Big Mark Knopfler fan. Liked it immediately.
Mark used absolutely NO gain...this has a little overdrive
Don’t insult Dire Straits like that! Give yourself an uppercut
Oh wow... I think there are definitely some similarities. That's why I like 'em so much.
Favorite song by them. Thank you so much ALV for introducing me to them.
Dawes is amazing
Love love love this song!
There are so many instruments in this song, this is a good example of a high amount of timbre! I love it!
This groove is so tight, catchy riff and a nice lyrical portrait of the ups downs of air travel...awesome song
Dig this song and video. My favorite Dawes. I hear Zevon, Browne, and the Eagles. That blistering solo.
Speaking of Eagles the old dude could pass as an unkempt Don Henley. Just saying...
@@dmamsquared5945 I could see that.
@@dmamsquared5945 That old dude is John Fogerty.
Such a great song.
such a great song
Great song!
Love it!!!❤❤❤
This guy is excellent,, allegory parable and fable mixed with folk rock,, 💯💯💯...
love this song when it was firs t release . and it's still great. keep it up dawes
Iove this song.

GREAT, GREAT SONG !!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
ABOUT TIME!!! This is amazing. Thank you for this. Can't wait to see you all in Nashville on Thursday!!!
this song and film clip has been out for almost a year. pretty sure it's a reupload
Just heard this song for the first time. I can't even get my thoughts together to form a coherent comment. Just... wow. Amazing.
Good stuff, gents! Excited about the new album!
I guess I love this brilliant song cuz I work for United Airlines... Thank you WTMD Towson MD for playing this to me 5 years ago I still love it
Great station!
That's ME sitting next to myself in the final verse. I love this song so much.
Oh how things change so quickly in retrospect. The world has changed quite a bit since this song came out.
Such a classic sound......5stars...
Tune lads

Fleetwood Mac plus CSNY
Underrated band as FUCK
Can't figure out why they don't get huge airplay.
God, this is so much better then when the tequila runs out.
Gonna take me a while to get used to the new sound
they didn't even play this tonight in Chicago. WTF?!
The tequila song is my jam right now!
It isn't, though..
hopefully they revert back on the next album.
Music class brought me here anybody from mentor college
Does this remind anyone else of the song Caravan by Utopia?
Lap baby dancing 😛😼😸
why did you guys repost this the view count is way low. i watched this way before aug 2016...
The part where he wakes up and no one is there reminds me of the langoliers
Love that film!! I never read the book.
Looking for the password.
If you like this, you might like Dave Nachmanoff's new release, Cerulean Sky.
Lmao the only difference I can tell from the original upload is they added a couple sound effects
Still one of the best songs of the decade
Mandy Moore has got a thing for underrated rockers from Ryan Adams to Taylor Goldsmith.
#tuesdaytunes
Is that Taylor's dad @ 3:20?
I wondered the same thing so I looked it up and I'm not sure it's his Dad (his dad's head is shaved sooo . . .).
It is not. I have seen his dad up close when he came on stage at a concert (I was lucky enough to be standing in the front row). Side note: his dad in an incredible singer
It's John Fogarty
Frank Ashmore, I think... [He appeared in one of those cop shows in the same red plaid shirt...]
Great song, but it was SOOO much better live!
Taylor really looks like Ryan Adams in this video..

Loved this album but I'll be damned if watching that old man jam out didn't make me uncomfortable for some odd reason.
The old guy is wearing the same shirt as Taylor, it is supposed to be him later in life...
Who the fuck is Brian Denehy?
And, I used to mix up Brian Denehy and Charles Durning...
The music in the song sounds like a rip off from the song I Am So Into You 1976 Atlanta Rhythm Section
Looks like Nick Nolte. But probally not.
Nice song. Bad and naive lyrics. chao
Bad lyrics?
For some reason Taylor G does not like his best song.
Meh. Too upbeat for the subject...kinda weakens it lol
Lyrics are uncreative, sounds like just a guy talking. Monotone singing. "I sat down in my seat and the plane takes off I look at the sky I go to the mens room etc". Instruments, especially the drums, sound they're done on a Casio.
