Jon I just picked one up the same color and style man am I proud it looks awesome and I'm keeping the trd delear tires they are off road enough for me I'm a no mods guy and seeing this video made me so happy to see someone who just reviewed it as I bought my voodoo blue trd pro tacoma 3 days ago and drove it on the interstate from day 1 to day 2 and today 3 days driving it and it is fast and smooth tires are great on the freeway if a tire change comes around I'll get the same trd pro factory tires since my delear is friendly to have another set of trd pro tires deliverd

So the crazy thing is I mentioned this in recording but edited it out. It’s very similar but less metallic. That v8 x runner would be insane.

They use drums bcuz with regular disc when you’re off-roading they get scratch with sand

Would not pay for a TRD pro, but would definitely go with the limited. I can actually live without power seats for $40,000. I would rather have a reliable truck then a chevy colorado that falls apart around 3 years old. I heard some talk about Toyota adding another interior color this year for the limited leather, is that true?
I haven’t heard anything yet. I know for the exterior of the 4Runner there is a new trim for the limited. The Nightshade. All chrome is blacked out.
Like the Voodoo color. If you want to stand out for sure. I have the Cement color which I love but it is more neutral in color. Wish Toyota would put led headlights in the Tacoma as well as electrical seats and if possible vented seats for us here in Florida.

$600 for the steps?! That's why when I got my 4runner, I got no options and added everything I wanted for half the price. I found some N-Fab tubes for less than half of that.

@@TRDJon I've literally seen those steps bend for someone on a trail. The part where you put your foot in just folded down like aluminum foil. Steps are NOT sliders and if that's what you need, get the bars made specifically for sliding on rocks.

I keep hoping the market won’t support these high prices on tacos and 4runners and people will stop buying them so the price points will get more competitive. But Toyota is not the only auto maker with higher prices. They gotta pay to build them to.
A pretty loaded fj cruiser was 29,999 new at the dealer 10 years ago
I remember tacos topped out around low 30s in early 2000s at dealers
All dealers with new models are just jacking prices up. People are now in this phase where they always have to have new so I feel the companies know they will always have a payment and can just slowly raise the prices more. My dads 05 duramax fully loaded was about 40k and now a fully loaded duramx is like 70k. Early 2000’s and now though, the main difference is just ALL the features you get in a vehicle now.

The market would prove you wrong. When I was searching for a 4Runner the TRD Pro models were going for $5K OVER sticker. More than I was going to pay, but lots of folks pay it.

I just waited, one popped up close to me and we spotted it before it was even entered into inventory. Bought for $44K and I'm very happy with it.

You can buy a 3/4 ton base model for less, and it will barely have less options than this, it looks nice but it's not worth 50k that's a hell of a mark up.

Tundras aren’t as rare.
Why are drum brakes in the rear a bad thing? Someone educate me.
It’s just very old technology. They are still effective. But for towing, lots of breaking with off roading, they just make the front ones wear that much faster.
Drum breaks are better for off-roading because the dirt doesn’t effect them as much. Really there’s not much difference. Disc breaks look better. The rear doest break as much as the front. But I can understand towing is better for disc. But whatever you’re towing should have breaks on it.
It’s not a bad thing. 70% of all breaking is done with the front breaks. Get over it.

I like it... but it is a hard no for me. I am content with my 18 TRD sport 4x4! The prices are getting ridiculous for mid size trucks now, or for any truck for that matter.

Yes I’d highly recommend doing that so you don’t put money down on something your potentially not even going to fit in
Lots of comments about the price. This is a very limited run truck that they have no trouble moving. Chevy does the same with the ZR2 with similar pricing. Toyota sells 200k Tacomas per year so people want these. Trd off road Version is very similar to this pro trim and can be had in the 30k range.

Here in our area, we have way too many trucks that are simply loaded up better and cheaper for 50K+. That is why this truck is still sitting here. Nice try though.

It's been super reliable, I'll never get rid of it even when I do decide to get a tacoma.

I like my 2017 SR5 just fine. Especially since I didn’t pay 55k. That truck is nice, but not 25 k nicer than what I’ve already got. I could do a lot of upgrades for that kind of cash that would put the TRD to shame...

Wow, no headroom at all in that thing, and no power seats? Surprising for what you pay. I'm 6'5" and would never fit in that thing, glad that my 17 SR5 has all the headroom in the world even with the moon roof, it's like sitting in a living room, so roomy!
I do like the Voodoo blue though, a bit too bright for me for a daily, much happier with my Nautical Blue

Looked at one yesterday, $47K. Which is about $10K more than I'd pay for it. Here the TRD Off Road model 4Runners/Tacoma are only about $3-4K less than I paid for a TRD Pro. I don't know where they are $10-15K less. Cheapest 4Runner in this area is about $36K and that is an SR5. My daughter has been shopping for a small truck or SUV, so we've been pricing several different models.
My 2014 Toyota Tacoma cost $30k brand new. That’s $20k less! So for an extra $20k (nearly double the price) you get 4WD & a sunroof. That’s a rip off in my opinion.
This is marked up. You can still get it for 40. And it’s a whole new generation, all the 4x4 features, way better suspension and underneath protection. In addition to all the features inside.
