  • Welcome (Bienvenidos) to Neil’s Spanish Fly Box, where we take a look at some of the flies used in Spain and elsewhere.
¿Hola, que tal? En principio, este es un video diseñado para pescadores que entienden inglés, pero por supuesto, ¡cualquiera puede verlos! Si eres un pescador de habla hispana y te gustaría comentar en español, te responderé en español. ¡No seas tímido!
Learn about some new (some, not so new) and interesting fly patterns, that can be found in every Spanish fly fisherman’s armoury, including some ‘must haves’! Real flies for real fly fishers.
I have fly fished in Spanish competitions for over a decade, on rivers and still water, learning a great deal about the Spanish way of fishing and the flies that
    are used.

Hello Burton, thank you for your kind comment. As I have previously said, there are now many variants, but the original still holds a strong position in my fly box.👍

Hello Alan and thank you for your generous comment. It is definitely one of my favourites for still water fishing, but becoming increasingly used on the river.😉

Very similar to an American PT soft hackle. Great dropper when fishing a dry or Euro nymphing. I even use it as my point when Fishing a three fly cast of Spiders.

Hello Michael, yes, similar. As I said, this nymph is very popular on the still water fly fishing circuit. Although this is based upon the the original tying, there are many variants, creating a broad spectrum of nymphs. It is used as a point fly, with maybe some DB’s above or on a dropper with a larger fly on the point.👍

Nice tie. Im from PA and the Walt's worm is a staple fly in our boxes. Personally i tie the original one, and the sexy Walt's as well. The original i use a light hares ear dubbing, and 5he sexy Walt's i use a dubbing blend of light rainbow scud dub and light hares ear with a pearl or opal rib.

Hello there. Not sure whether you think the cruncher or Walt’s worm is a ‘nice tie’? Either way, I am grateful for your kind comment. As I said in the vid, I’m aware that there are many variations, as there are with most flies. It’s all about confidence and if your versions regularly catch trout, stick with them for as long as they do! Good to hear from you and thank you for your insight.👍
