This may be the most reassuring video I've seen outside of Dr. Gupta, why? Because you're describing everything I go through on a daily basis. I do have an extra level of anxiety since I'm turning 65, though I do have a structually normal heart. Thanks for pouring out your reality, because it's a lot of our reality as well.

It was lovely coming across your video. I have now suffered from PVC's for the last two years and often feel like its only me. You have described how I feel every day and its comforting to know others have the same feelings and worries as me. Ive tried the usual suspects, no alcohol, no caffeine, reduce stress, start relaxation classes etc without much success but one thing that did help (just a little) was stopping all MSG (monosodium glutamate). Stopping this from my diet has caused a very slight reduction in them but any reduction is worth it. Ive never heard of the magnesium so thank you for saying about it oh an congratulations on your baby. Take care.

Thanks for sharing your experience as well, as I am finding out, you are not alone! Interesting about the MSG, I have noticed certain foods set them off, I will be more conscious of MSG now and see if that’s a possible culprit.
I would recommend magnesium at least for a month or so, Magnesium Taurate is the recommended.
Wishing all the best to you!

I’m 25 yr old Male, i was diagnosed with PVCs too last week and i have major health anxiety. I was scheduled for an echogram and that whole week while waiting for my appointment, i fell into minor depression and i had constant worry. I lost 2kg as i had no mood at all to eat and i felt as if no one understands my situation. So the day of my appointment came and i did my echogram, and thank God i have a normal structural heart. Funnily enough while i was doing the procedure, the nurse told me that she too has PVCs and seeing her being positive and strong gave me strength. I was super relieved to hear the good news but from time to time, i do worry about the pauses or the skip beats. It feels nice to finally meet a community where we are all facing the same issue and that made me feel that we’re all in this together. I’m planning to take Mag taurate but i’m not sure how effective it is? Anyways, i wish you and everyone a healthy life and know that we can do this! 💪🏽

I can completely relate with your health anxiety, been there for sure. But to me, it seems the longer you deal with the PVCs/PACs and the more you read other peoples stories the more at peace you become with them and the better your health anxiety will get.
So glad to hear your heart is structurally normal, that is the first key thing to find out once you start having PVCs and a very good reassurance. Try to think about that anytime they really start to bother you, i think about that and what my cardiologist said “they are totally harmless for you, heart is structurally normal and you are otherwise completely healthy”.
And yes! Love that we have a RUclips community for this, the Reddit sub /PVCs is quite good as well, there is a cardiologist on there who also suffers from PVCs and is very reassuring.
Many people have found magnesium taurine or magnesium glycerine to be very helpful, I didn’t not experience any positive impacts from them, however. I believe getting control of anxiety (at least for me) will be the biggest game changer. I will be posting a new video shortly as I have found a few things in the past couple weeks that have made a huge difference.
      All the best to you!

Theres no better feeling than talking about it and letting it off your chest. It helps so much and I'm empathetic with you. I've been drinking alcohol for the last 5 years weekly as much as 15 drinks per week. I've even done cocaine too for the last 4 years weekly. Its been a crazy struggle but I've seen the light at the end of the tunnel and managed to completely quit both cold turkey. I developed PVC's for the first time at 33 and landed myself in the hospital because I did not know what was wrong with me. I too suffer from anxiety and worrying however I know that the heart is such a beautiful strong muscle and doctors have told me my heart is fine and to lay off the alcohol and drug use. Im currently suffering from PVC's the last few days however I've accepted that its okay and that it will last with more excercise and no alcohol or nicotine in my life.

Thank you for sharing your story and video. I was having 50,000 in 24 hours by event monitor. Scheduled for ablation. I started on magnesium and converted one week before my ablation. They returned 8 months again for several weeks. Then developed fast heart rate and started Back on Metoprolol. For past year. Now PVCs have returned. It’s a vicious cycle. Causes so much anxiety. I can seem to control it. Thank you for sharing. I will follow and see how things go. I too have watched hours of Dr. Gupta. He has helped very much. I kinda think the heart gets irritable, maybe from lack of magnesium and potassium especially since I am older. Also I think a good digestive enzymes may help. Wow, 50K in a 24 hour period is a lot, that might shock me into scheduling an ablation as well. So the magnesium had that big of an impact on you? Did it essentially stop the PVCs altogether and thats why you cancelled the ablation?
I couldnt agree more with you, they cause so much health anxiety and worry, i just cant help my mind from thinking the worst unfortunately.
What is your path forward with PVCs? Are you trying anything else like diet change or exercise? Is an ablation still possibly in your future, what are your thoughts?

I have added 400 mg magnesium oxide and a digestive enzyme. One from health food store. I saw where Dr Gupta had a video on deep breathing for 5 minutes. It helped a lot. I want to add that I had 50,000 a day for over 8 months. I ended up in Hosp and noted in Er they gave me potassium and iv magnesium and it slowed them down. I increased my mag when I got out and they stopped. Not sure why they keep returning but I noted my magnesium level was 2.1. It needs to be above a 2 if history of arrthymias. The blood work is not precise as it can’t detect really accurately. I know they are back and I get concerned going into A fib. Which is dangerous for a stroke..

BeastMD, do you notice more PVCs/ectopic beats after exercise starting as soon as recovery time? I’ve started to exercise again after a long while of being scared of it due to the possibility of damaging my heart; currently slowly conditioning myself.
I’ve seen dr Sanjay Guptas videos where he doesn’t consider a few beats here and there to be worrisome. But I’m curious to know if you get them, how long they last and how frequent, and how you feel generally after exercise. I’ll be recovering from a run and I’ll sit for an hour just paranoid that the next ectopic best “will be different,” causing my heart to explode.

I’ve been getting them pretty rarely , like once or twice a month, and it seems to happpen after I’ve been inactive for a few days. Hello, I feel very close to this as I experience the same as you. Mine also started with the birth of my first child and right around that time it was bad anxiety I had never experienced before kicked in and the all the PVCs skipped bests thuds ETC happened. I became consumed with health anxiety and I think it all stems from a fear of dying early and leaving my child father less. As far fetched as it sounds it's the root cause I believe. I've been on anxiety medicine but recently was weaned off as I was on it for some years. I work out regularly but often have fears of sudden death I have instances were like clock work i reach 7 minutes on a treadmill and I have a good thud and then the rest of the run I'll be fine.. I've had all the tests in the past, ER visits, wore the heart monitor and even when I had what I thought were life threating thuds I recorded and indicated them on the machine and when they were gone over they were all but ahh it's normal given your heighten anxiety ETC. I have good blood pressure, normal resting and active heart rates. Even right now I'm having a bad time but I take it a day at a time. I've started magnesium and stuff but idk... I just wanted to share as the was your started off and mine it was too crazy to think what if that type of a life changing event can have this trickle down affect? Any advice, thoughts ETC would be helpful but really thankyou for this it was good to hear someone speak who had very close circumstances close to me to make me think this is not as sinister as I think.....

Wow, yes that exact situation (as you saw) is what has happened to me. I am sorry you are also going through this but it is a bit of a relief knowing I am not alone, especially with your very similar experience. I too have felt at least partially consumed with health anxiety and fear of sudden death, I too believe it can be the root cause and I am hoping the halter monitor results will help me with that conclusion (if I don't get PVCs while sleeping, my theory is its all in my head, once my mind is shut off I'm not worrying about it anymore and no longer getting the PVCs).
I am glad to see you also have a good bill of health all around (blood pressure, heart rate etc).
It sounds like you are doing basically everything I am doing, have you tried talking to a therapist at all? Working out every other day DEFINITLEY helps me, it reduces the frequency to about 1 PVC every 20 seconds. I have taken up wood working and a few other hobbies to help me keep my mind busy, and that seems to help at least while i am doing the acitivity. My mind stays off thinking about the PVCS/health anxiety etc. Also, talking with people and knowing others go through the same thing does help my. If you can afford it, talking with Dr. Gupta from York Cadiology may help you, you can book an appt with him online and do telehealth. I think its around $200 USD for an hour but just his reassurance can be very helpful.
How old is your first child? Has it been years since these PVCs first happened to you?
Thank you so much for the comment and I hope we can continue the converstion!

I have been having them since I was 18. Mine would usually come and go. I would have a couple and they would go away for 6 months to a year. I went to many doctors and ERs and had EKGs, XRays, ultrasounds, and a Halter monitor, and they never could see anything. It was brushed off, I was told I just had anxiety, heart was fine, nothing at all going on. Now I'm 33 and a few weeks ago, I got some that lingered, and still are. Went to the ER and they finally seen them on an EKG and told me it's PVCs. Nothing to worry about. Follow up with my Dr this Wednesday, and will hopefully get another Halter monitor, or likely referred to a Cardiologist for more testing. Mainly for the ease of mind. I'm not overly worried, but I don't want to not get it fully checked out and regret it. Thoughts and prayers with you. Mine are a bit sporadic, I couldn't imagine having it every 4 beats. It is very reassuring knowing other people are facing the same thing though. It is comforting talking with people who know the experience, or hearing people tell similar stories.

@@gwheel3502 I think exercise not only helps your health but it also helps you overcome your exercise fear. And so the more intense you go the more you are certain that nothing will happen. And the less PACs you get.
I went running for ~30 mins, about 5,6 km, everyday I was not going to the gym. Which was every 2nd day. And there I spent about 1,5 h. But I also was not working or anything so my stress was gone (although I was pretty depressed).
But before that it was crazy. I had gotten PACs from doing everything basically. But I'm pretty convinced that exercising is the best remedy. Lots of people on Reddit who have PVCs/PACs say the same.

I’ve found that caffeine, lack of sleep and anxiety are the main triggers for PVC’s. Without a doubt. Anxiety started my life with them. And the sad thing is, doctors don’t acknowledge that. They act like the PVC’s are ok & normal. They are not. The anxiety a person gets from them is a health concern all on it’s own. Bottom line, I’ve found that controlling the anxiety is the number one way to reduce the palpitations. We’ve got this.

Very similar here. On and off. The fact that they can go away for months, in some cases a year tells me my heart is structurally fine, had echo also. When at their worst every 4 beats like you. One thing I didn’t hear you mention was digestion connection. Mine always seem to come on with gas and bloating. I feel this creates a pressure in my chest cavity. I’ve tried all the tricks, magnesium, exercise etc, but for me what’s most helpful is reducing gas, bloating and even the size of my (very small) beer belly. Avoiding fodmaps and fizzy drinks I think have been more helpful to me personally than anything. I know it sounds crazy. Also stress reduction because stress for me leads to gas and bloating. Just my two cents.

Unless you get like 10,000 every 24hrs, doctors won't do anything otherwise they will perform an ablation. If i were you i would avoid medications, in my opinion they don't work, at least for me. Hi there! My hats off to you, 4 kids while nursing and home schooling, you are a superhero!
I think the Apple Watch or the Kardia Mobile home EKG is a good thing to have on hand, especially if your doc is involved and can monitor, I will just caution you not to become obsessed with it and always checking your heart rate and ectopics, it certainly can make them worse and intensify health anxiety.
Do you know how many you are roughly getting a day? Metoprolol does help a lot of people, I didn’t find it helpful at all and came off of it with doctors guidance (talk about it in a later video I made). I would certainly continue to pray about it and read others experiences, especially if you are nursing I would certainly look into that much more.
Magnesium seems to be the most common thing to help people and is definitely worth trying in my opinion, there are several different options, taurate, glyncenate and there is one other that escapes my mind at the moment. Med Diet is definitely worth trying but is a commitment for sure, especially if you don’t like seafood like me!
I am not from Michigan but it is one of my favorite states, especially the coasts and UP. I live in Upstate NY.
If you haven’t checked out York Cardiology on RUclips with Dr. Gupta I would highly recommend his channel and videos as well. Happy to answer any other questions you may have or just lend an ear. All the best to you and I will include you in my prayers!

Every day seems different with the amount of PVCs, some days I get a couple “episodes” where they’re very frequent for up to an hour, and other days I only get a couple here and there. So I wouldn’t consider myself a severe case, and that’s why I’m trying less invasive techniques to cope with them right now.
Yes, thank you for the advice to not check my watch continuously…I was falling into that habit and my husband encouraged me in the same way.
I will look into Dr. Gupta, thank you. I’ve watched some videos here and there of others who explain PVC or have it, and I’m very thankful to be living in a time where this information is shared because it brings a peace of mind hearing that it’s not as uncommon as it seems and that people are living long and healthy lives with PVCs. :)

I had all heart tests done in the past. one thing that does keep them at bay and it’s atenolol. 25 mg 2 x a day. They do tend to happen after a night of alcohol. And or when I’m feeling exhausted . Almost identical here.
I was diagnosed with PACs decades ago and they weren't TOO MUCH of a problem. Only sometimes, when they kicked in, would it "take my breath" away.
But in the last few years (just before Covid hit) I started having "other" flutter issues. It was during a time of super stress too.
I did go to emerg at one point and THERE the Doctor thought A-Fib.
But after seeing the Cardiologist, it turns out that it was PVCs (along with PACs).
At that time, he gave me Bisoprolol and Flecainide.
As it turns out, the very day that I started taking those 2 meds is the very day that the "super stress" situation was resolved (I won the case) LOL
My heart went back into normal rhythm!
So was it the meds or the removal of stress? I'm not sure. Probably a combo of both.
During that visit, the Cardiologist suggested Ablation and set up an appointment.
However, I tested myself by stopping the meds and the heart stayed in proper rhythm, so the Dr. cancelled the Ablation app't after another Echo/ECG that showed stability.
Now, fast forward a bunch of months (over a year, really) and PAC/PVS are back.
So, another Echo, with injection stress test which did show that the structure of the heart is just fine, but the Dr. doing the test did say that the heart was "fluttering" a lot. LOTS! The Dr. ordered a holter for 3-days. The report came back and did show a thousands of PVCs and PACs.
As for Flecainide, I am very nervous about that drug. It can have some bad side effects. So I hadn't taken that, but the Dr. did want me to continue with Bisoprolol.
But the PVCs and PACs where constant. 24/7 and hard to sleep at night with all that bumping going on.
At this point, the Dr. wanted me to go back onto Flecainide, along with Bisoprolol to confirm if the heart would go back into normal rhythm (or as close to it as possible).
By taking these 2 meds, IF the heart settled down, it would indicate that I'm a good candidate for Ablation.
So the Dr. set up a 14-day holter this time, taking the meds to compare that to the other holter and ECGs.
Well that was a good move, because that proved that what I was feeling was right.
With the 2 meds, the heart was calm, without, not so much.
So I talked to him yesterday and he is setting up an app't for Ablation. He feels confident that he can find the spot or spots causing the problems and get this resolved once and for all. After the procedure, no more meds needed! The Dr. does want me to stop the meds about 6-8 weeks before the Ablation to assure they meds are totally out of my system.
As for coffee, I did test going off coffee for a couple of weeks, as caffeine is often a trigger. But I saw no real difference.
So, I enjoy my coffees daily.
As for sugar, that's not something I use and haven't for decades anyway. The only actual sugar I get is what may be in some foods not prepared at home.
I did a lot of research on Ablation and now feel a lot more comfortable with it. ESPECIALLY these days with the newer, better equipment, 3D mapping and procedures. A lot less risky.
I just thought that I'd share.

You’re right, very similar experiences. I too had severe reservations regarding flecainide but glad the two meds seem to work for you, but know one wants to be on meds for the rest of their lives.
My hope is I can get health anxiety under control (though I feel fine it must be subconscious) and this will relieve me of the PACs. If not I’d say I’ll go ablation route in a few years, still very nerve racking regarding the ablation even tho I know how safe a surgery is.

My PVCs happen when im walking around or standing up. Sitting down helps relieve them and deep breaths. My heart has a normal rhythm and bpm throughout the day, but typically when the sun goes down and or when im in a very stressful situation, theyll start up. Itll feel like my heart is skipping every other beat. I mean its not actually doing that, so its like beat THUD beat THUD beat THUD. and itll keep doing that for a few minutes straight. They are terrifying. But at this point ive grown pretty used to them. Whenever they happen i still get nervous but i can work through them better. I dont drink caffeine, i never really have. No alcohol or tobacco. I dont get dizzy when they happen. No pain, no labored breathing. Just the skips. The only thing that makes sense is anxiety but obviously i still think in the back of my head that it could be the start of something bad.

If you have a high burden rate, the ablation is usually very successful since they can pinpoint where its happening relatively easily.

I have never had PVC when my heart rate is elevated, only while at rest. Glad you got all checked out and had EKG and Echo done. For me, an Echo is KEY, helps put your mind at ease that your heart is structurally normal. Metoprolol has not worked for me and I’m actually weening off of it right now (under Doctor supervision)
It sounds like yours are caused by anxiety (I think mine are too), especially since you said they went away for a while. Have you tried jogging/running for 30 min a day or every other day? I find that to be the most helpful, helps with overall health and anxiety. I would focus on getting your anxiety under control and I would bet your PVCs will improve (just like I am doing). Also, I used to take my pulse all the time and I believe it only makes things worse, it exasperates them even more. I stopped taking my pulse a few days ago I feel a lot better already. It’s tough to not do it, but its helpful NOT to unless something very weird comes up.

What I did to help control mine along with my medications is I take Potassium Gluconate 595mg, I drink Pedialyte advance care and the key is to take Magnesium Taurate 400mg with Coenzyme B-6. The brand name for the magnesium is KAL the B6 is combined with the magnesium, the taurate with the magnesium is the key. Regular magnesium doesn't work as well for PVC. You must take potassium and magnesium together because they work in conjunction with each other. I drink the Pedialyte to also make sure my electrolytes are not low which could also trigger rhythm problems with the heart.

Hi Nikki - first thing to do is get checked out and cleared by medical specialists (cardiologist) - If you are getting chest pain or constant chest tightness it is worth going to the ER.
The PVCs subreddit is a good source of information as well, but this is just for info and not a replacement for being scene by medical professionals.

The cost of an echo is a perfect example of what is wrong with our medical system. It's just an ultrasound. It should cost you like 20 bucks out of pocket because nothing complex or invasive is being done. It's just a sensor rolled over your chest, but I'm sure they'd charge your insurance something outrageous like 10k and that makes them not want to pay due to your low risk factor.

    • @gwheel3502
      @gwheel3502  Год назад

Couldn’t agree more, and that’s exactly why they wouldn’t pay I’m sure (low risk), just like I’m sure they wouldn’t pay for an ablation if I choose that route. I’m very thankful I have coverage with the VA as I only paid a co pay with them, but most US citizens don’t have that option.
