Loads of lessons learned, which you can take into all future races! Thanks for sharing Stevo. You'll come back stronger 💪
Good lessons there for the full marathon🤞🏼. Looking forward to that a lot now. Cheers
Stevo just something I picked up on what you said. You said that you would never run 1.25. I want to say that this IS within your reach. I went from 3.51 marathon to 2.57 so far using maf. Now I now you use maf or 80/20 but its all about having targeted sessions that make you ru faster. Stay consistent and honestly mate in a few training cycles you won't believe how fast you can get. Keep at it budd
That’s just what I needed to hear, cheers. Great progress for you there too which makes me hopeful! Nice one 👍🏼
I just subbed👌🏼
Absolutely agree with that. Steve, look at Nigel Berrymans MAF pace and his splits from his recent 1:27 HM. No reason why you can't do the same. As you say, run YOUR race, YOUR pace, not your mates.
Thanks for the video. Well done for turning the negatives into lessons. Your poor sleep will certainly have been your excitement/nerves, in part. Do stick to pace come the marathon. I don’t mind feeling hungry for halves or shorter as I hate feeling full or heavy. Feeding en route is good practice for the marathon, though. Taper for the marathon - it is difficult as it’s tempting to run in your highly-trained state. You can definitely do 1:30 Half. If the rest of your marathon training plan is completed and you stick to lessons learned from Oxford Half you will be much nearer 3 hours than 3:30 for the marathon. And great that you persevered and got the PB on Sunday!
Thanks for the advice and optimism, Henry! Lessons learned for sure.
Congratulations on the PB!
Cheers bud 👍🏼
Well done on your PB! No matter how hard you train we all have good days and bad. There are lessons to be learned from every run.
Thank you! Yes absolutely and I’ve learned a lot over this past few weeks!
Congrats on the PB mate. I think you mentioned after that 9 mile run that it might have been a mistake. Live and learn. I'm sure you'll fix all these issues for the next race.... and get a whole new set of lessons like we do in every race lol. Keep pushing mate 👍🏻🏃♂️
Thanks Mark. Yep i overcooked this week but yes every day is a learning day! Looking forward to the next one
Great video Stevo. You still did well and I can take stuff from your experience also.
I ran a 10 mile race in a similar way. I had to drop my pace big time with a mile to go but you live n learn :)
Thanks Gilly. It happens to everyone at some point I guess so we just have to learn from it for next time. Thanks for writing and good luck with yours
Congrats on the pb, I was looking out for you on the out and back sections when the faster runners were coming past, great event really enjoyed it 👍🏻
Cheers! I hope your race went well!
Steady as she goes at the start maybe slightly behind race pace, get to race pace and then hopefully try and do a negative split for the second half of the race......lessons learned and fix forward. Great running and keep up the good work.
Love the running content. Keep it coming as i am really enjoying watching
That’s great to hear thank you
Congrats on the PB Stevo, nice analysis too. Always good to pick out the good and bad parts and learn from them. I’m sure that sub 1.30 is in close reach
Thanks a lot Liam. Stick at yours too my man, I’ve seen your 5k TTs and I think if you base build over the winter months into new year I’m sure you have the time your after in the bag… keep at it mate 👍🏼
@@StevoRuns that’s exactly what Im going to do mate👍🏼 I’m feeling a bit worn out from all the speed work so I’m having a little bit of downtime before I get back to the long easy runs. Been thinking a lot about your Maf strategy, it seems like the way to go for me at the moment
@@liamliosmyth yes mate start up when you’re fresh and ready and I would find the perfect HR to run at for you and I’m sure you will have great progress then. T
Let me know if there’s anything I can help with
@@StevoRuns nice one bud appreciate that 👍🏼
It sounds like the half was a great success purely for the amount that you learnt! I know that you will totally smash your goal when the time is right 🤩
Hopefully Julie! Yes I’m kind of glad it happened this way. Thanks
Well done on the time mate, I was there to and ran it in 1:33:09. It was my first half-marathon race and it was a great experience.
Thanks Tirian! That’s a brilliant first half time, well done. We must have started in the same 1.30 pen? It was hard at the beginning to get going. It’s a great day out though. Same time next year!?
Dont know about you guys, but I'm shattered after watching that!well done Stevo...Penultimate sleep is more important .Seems odd being hungry before a race!!?maybe low blood sugar due to breakfast and you had a crash or you werent nervous enough.lol
Everyone sleeps badly the night before.
Yes mate, I’ll need some sedatives next time. Glad it’s not just me though
