Applying Solar Colored Dusts with Tack It Method: WHAT??

  • Опубликовано: 5 авг 2024
  • Something I've really wanted to try is applying powders that change color in the sunshine onto a tumbler using the Tack It method, just to see what would happen -- it's one of my myriad experiment ideas! So that's what I decided to do in this video. To add a little extra to it, the tumbler I applied the powders to is also a glow in the dark sublimation cup. Oh, and there's a full-tumbler waterslide involved, too. Nothing is simple, is it... The solar gods laughed and laughed.

    My guess is the layer of solar dust I put on was just too thin. But it’s still a pretty pastel glow tumbler! 😁 🌸🌺🌼

      Did the final layer of resin have UV inhibitors in it? I did that once with a UV paint. Put it under a high UV inhibitor resin which blocked it from showing up in the sunlight. took me forever to figure out that was the reason the paint didn't show up in the sunlight. Just curious.

      @@emeraldluxuriesgreat question!

    • @Luxinda
      @Luxinda  Год назад +2

      @@emeraldluxuries in this case, no - it was the same basic resin as the first layer when it change had still worked. My guess is the dust layer just wasn’t thick enough underneath 2 layers of resin and waterslide film.

    I am seeing a lot of purple out in the sunshine and I dont remember you adding any purple powders so something changed colors. It turned out beautifully and that waterslide design is gorgeous. The glow shot is amazing. You create some beautiful tumblers. Thank you for sharing them.

    It's gorgeous! Doesn't matter that it didn't change. And that red glow was amazing. I wondered if they would still glow after all of the products on it. I spray painted acup once in pastels, similar to the placement of your pastel colors and then did a dawn dish spray and white paint over it. It came out so pretty and I got lots of compliments on it. Oh, and I put a large butterfly on it. Anyway, I can see all kinds of cool things to do with those powders. Thanks for testing all of these. BTW, when you said "we need to have a little chat" I got scared, lol

    I was starting to wonder if the UV protection in the resin was messing with the color change ability. But the glow in the dark worked so well, that seems less likely... Anyway, thanks for doing the experiment!

    I still love how it came out even though the colors didn't change the way you were expecting it to. I wonder if the waterslide you added had any effect in that, maybe the coats of spray sealants prevented the solar colors from changing. The glow in the dark looked awesome!

    • @Luxinda
      @Luxinda  Год назад

      Yeah, I remember you mentioning that - it’s too bad that it can freeze the color like that, but I’m guessing most folks don’t put theirs on a window sill indefinitely 🤔😁

  • @septarian3337

    I wonder if the water slide provided some kind of uv or solar protection unintentionally. Because if your tests worked up until that point maybe the combo of too little powder and a complete wrap (although clear) could have anti-yellowing in it and might be blocking some of the uv interaction. I sound like I know what I'm talking about, I do not lol. I don't even know if those are technically called uv reactive, that's how short term my memory is and I'm too lazy to go back and see if that's what you said it was 😅 but if that is what it is... That's my guess. The red/orange glow with the flower pattern is really f*ckin cool though. And it looks beautiful pastel as well. Two different cups literally night & day all in one 👍🏼
    Came from Ant's channel by the way. From your collab. Love your videos and satire, will definitely be staying ☺️
