NO WASH N GO - How I Define My Kinky, Coily Natural Hair (WITHOUT GELS OR CURLING PRODUCTS!)

  • Today, I’m showing you how I define my type 4b/4c natural hair without using any gels or curling products. Instead, I’ll just be using a detangling product and my DIY Shea Butter Cream.
    I’ve used lots of gels in the past to define my natural hair, but always had issues with knots & tangles which has reduce how often I use them on my hair now. But by chance I happened to try this combo when moisturising my hair and sealing my hair and loved the results.
    My hair didn’t come out exactly how it did the first time I tried this method, but that’s ok. The main thing is showing you guys how I did it in case someone wants to give it a try!
    Hope you enjoy this video 💗

      My daughter mixed race and hers is exactly the same tight coils at back and loose on top. I can't seem to de frizz it even with products.

    Nice! I usually done use gels. I used the method you showed in this video, water, cream and Shea butter.
    Gels are usually messy for me and cause a lot of flakes. I have to wash my hair more often.
    Your hair is beautiful!

    Great results! For definition I use mielle pomegranate and honey custard and then Camille rose curl maker on top, it stays moisturised for days, I use ant leave in before that. I always stretch with a bit of heat to use my single strand knots

    I've noticed shea butter define my curls a bit of late but I didn't know how to reduce the shrinkage I get, but I'll try the banding method like you did. And it gives good results when I take my out my twists. I'd love to see the DIY shea butter mix tutorial.

      Healthy Afro Hair I am in the same boat. I’ve always found Shea butter to be too heavy for my fine strands. I have my holy grail shampoo and conditioner, but am looking for a styler and hate gel!

      There’s quite a few curling and twisting products out there that might be worth trying. Some that I’ve found good are; Creme of Nature Twisting Creme, AS I AM Twist & Defining Creme & Kera Care Twist & Define Cream.

      Thank you! Yeah, some products won’t always work as well for everyone, but it’s a great method for sealing moisture into the hair, so you can always use it for that too.

    I love the results and would love to see a video on making the mixture. I have been able to nail my wng's with Eco Olive or gels so thick they don't spill out turned upside down. But this is not favorable longterm like you said.

    The definition the shea butter mix gave you is incredible! I'm going to buy amsome shea butter and try your recipe. I'm trying to see which products can define my 4c hair without gel. I'm currently using eco styler and I find it too drying, even when paired with conditioner and oil. How long did the definition last for on your hair? Thanks

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  3 года назад +1

      Thank you and yes, it’s really good. I remember using the Olive oil eco styler gel years ago and found it to be drying as well, no matter what I paired it with. But my hair will last for about a week like this.

    Do you also have an issue with your coils being shorter in the front than the back? The front of mines won’t grow while the back does.

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  3 года назад +3

      Yes, my hair appears to grow slower at the front and slightly faster at the back.

      The main 3 methods I use are; bands, flexi-rods or twists. But it’s twists most of the time.
